Elon Musk has sent an email to Tesla's executive staff stating that remote work is no longer acceptable and employees must spend at least 40 hours per week in the office or find work elsewhere. Consideration for remote work will be reserved for "exceptional contributors" and approved by Musk personally. Tesla's stance appears to go against the flow of companies adopting more hybrid approaches after the pandemic forced remote work. Musk said if employees don't show up to the office, "we will assume you have resigned."

WRITING TIPS 1. Start your writing by making an outline of what .docxambersalomon88660
WRITING TIPS
1. Start your writing by making an outline of what you want to say. Your paper should include an introduction, body, and conclusion. Basically, you say what you are going to say, you say it, and then you say what you said. Following an outline will help you stay on track and help your paper flow better.
2. Try to avoid beginning a sentence with this, that, these, or those. Pronouns confuse the reader unless the referent for each pronoun is obvious.
3. Refrain from using first and second person pronouns in a research paper (I, you, me). For example, if you write “When you talk about …..” Are you referring to me? Or you? Don't write like you are talking to me. Just rephrase and leave out pronouns. The use of pronouns makes your paper seem more subjective and less credible to the reader.
4. An organization is referred to as "it," not "they." Corporation and board are collective nouns, meaning they are nouns that describe a group, just like orchestra, team, and family. Collective nouns are usually treated as singular. It would be silly to refer to the corporation as he or she, so the only singular pronoun that remains is it. Example: Google addresses this problem by ensuring that 100% of the servers it retires are either reused or recycle.
5. Normally, the words because and is are not preceded by a comma. Here is an example of INCORRECT usage: “Good customer service is a strength, because the environment is highly competitive.” What follows the word "because" is essential to the sentence and should not have a comma before it.
6. Normally, you use a comma before the word which. Ex:Christmas is coming, which is my favorite holiday. Which introduces a nonrestrictive clause. If the clause is restrictive, use the word that and do not include a comma.
7. Do not use a comma before a conjunction (and, but, nor, for, yet) unless the phrase following is an independent clause (one that can stand alone as a complete sentence).
a. I am registered for next term, and the one after that. (WRONG)
b. The store sells clothes for teens, and young adults. (WRONG)
c. I am registered for next term, and I am excited about my classes. (CORRECT)
8. If you have two independent clauses joined by a conjunction, but the second independent clause has a comma in it, use a semicolon before the conjunction. Example: We have ten cats; and I love them all including Skip, John, and Alley.
9. Use a semi-colon to join two independent clauses. Joining two independent clauses this way implies that the two clauses are related and/or equal, or perhaps that one restates the other. Example: Seinfeldwas definitely my favorite television show during the 1990s; in fact, it is my favorite television show of all time.
10. When starting a sentence with a transition (however, therefore, otherwise, etc.), follow the transitional word with a comma. If the word interrupts a sentence, use a comma before and after. Ex: The game, however, was far from .

Business Ethics Midterm Review
Requirements:
1. This is the *review* for the mid-term. The test will be released through Blackboard about 5PM March 15. The test is due in class on March 17.
2. Answers to *each* individual question should be between 2 and 3 pages in length…double spaced! This will mean test totals should be 6 to 9 pages. Word process or type your answers! Though writing styles vary, much less than 2 pages will probably prove insufficient and anything much longer than 4 pages will likely be ignored.
3. All margins are to be 1 inch all around. All fonts used should be in 12 point type. Do not separate paragraphs with extra rows or returns. Begin each new question at the top of a new page. Do not repeat the question at the beginning of your answer. See the sample page attached for visual confirmation of the text format required.
4. The test itself will be open book and open notes. That is worth repeating: you may use any material from the class - your notes, my notes, or even the books on the test. You may prepare as little or as much as you wish. If you have complete answers to the whole review, then it should take you no longer than 10 minutes to complete the exam, including time to print and walk to class!
Note well, however, this is a test of your understanding of the material from this class so you would be well advised to concentrate on the material assigned. It is not a test of your ability to transcribe quotes. For example, do not simply list arguments advocated by one author or another. If you do list an argument in premise form, also write an answer that demonstrates you understand the premises and how they are justified.
5. The answers should be your work. DO NOT turn in any work that you did not produce by your own hand.
6. You are required to answer the underlined question or questions. The material preceding the underlined question is meant to direct you to the relevant issues.
7. You may answer any question, but DO NOT cut and paste any old material into your new answers. Take the time to read, understand, and rethink your old answer to make it better.
For the mid-term, you will be asked 5 questions chosen at random from among the following 10 questions. You will be required to answer any 3 of those 5 that you wish.
1. It is often claimed that Act Utilitarianism cannot account for moral concepts such as promises or justice. Rule Utilitarianism is an attempt by Utilitarians to account for these deficiencies. Does Rule Utilitarianism succeed as an attempt to improve upon Act Utilitarianism?
2. Nozick seems to think much of what Rawls's theory would require is actually unjust re-distribution. What is Nozick's argument to this conclusion? Is he right?
3. Freeman defends the Doctrine of Fair Contracts as his version of a "normative core" for stake-holder theory. How does Freeman’s argument work, that is, what theoretical device or structure does he employ to defend stake-holder theory..

BUILDING THE RIGHT CULTURE FOR THE REMOTE TEAM IN AMAZON
COMPANY IN UNITED STATES.
Introduction
The ability to work remotely, from anywhere in the world, is a potential boom for
businesses. It can help them recruit and retain employees and lower their costs by giving them
access to skilled workers who might otherwise price out of their markets. However, when
companies opt for remote work as their only option, they may find a workforce that does not
coordinate well due to differences in location or time zone. To build the right culture for remote
teams, the use of virtual workspaces can create a better work experience for everyone involved.
Objectives
This study investigates whether the right culture can be built remotely.
The specific purposes of this research are:
1. To determine what factors influence whether a remote team can build the right culture
for their organization.
2. To determine what factors influence whether a remote team can build the right culture
for their organization.
3. To determine how those factors affect the ability of the remote team to build the right
culture for their organization.
Research Problem
The main problem with this is that remote work requires communication between teams
across long distances, which means people need to be able to communicate frequently and quickly
(Davenport, 2013). If those conversations are happening over Slack or email instead of face-to-face
meetings and phone calls, then it is unlikely that team members will understand each other well

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Musk Says Remote Work 'No Longer Acceptable' at Tesla
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has sent an email to the company's executive staff stating that
"Remote work is no longer acceptable." Musk wants employees to spend at least 40 hours
per week at the office or find work elsewhere. Musk also added that under certain
circumstances, he would be willing to consider requests to work remotely. However, it
seems that this consideration will be reserved for "exceptional contributors", and that he
would review and approve those exceptions personally. In a follow-up email, Musk wrote
about his personal history of almost living in the Tesla factory as being one of the reasons
for the company's survival and success. He acknowledged that a lot of companies don't
require a visible presence, but he also compared their product success to Tesla's. After the
global pandemic forced many companies to rapidly allow their employees to work from
home, many are now assessing how they should bring their workforce back into the office,
or whether they even need to in the first place. Some, such as Apple, are testing a hybrid
approach that involves employees coming into the office for just part of the week. Tesla's
hardline stance appears to be going against the flow of the "new normal." Musk's
statement, "If you don't show up, we will assume you have resigned," doesn't leave much
room for a hybrid approach.
