Athens is a single sign-on system used by over 4 million users in higher education and healthcare to access online resources from 180 providers. Shibboleth is an open source single sign-on system developed by Internet2 that supports secure exchange of authentication and attributes between identity providers and service providers using SAML. The UK Access Management Federation is a UK federation for education and research that uses Shibboleth and delivers a WAYF service and shared policy. OpenAthens provides an outsourced identity and access management solution that supports multiple standards and federations to help institutions participate in federations while maintaining access to Athens resources.

JANET provides several essential network services and benefits for UK universities and research institutions, including a high-quality, high-capacity IP network; dedicated lightpath connections for bandwidth-intensive projects; videoconferencing services; wireless network access through Eduroam; and single sign-on access to online resources through the UK Access Management Federation. These services help enable efficient collaboration, teaching, and research both within the UK and internationally by facilitating communication, data transmission, and access to networked resources. Looking ahead, JANET aims to continue expanding these services to meet growing needs.

Intute has a catalogue of over 123,000 hand-selected web records organized by subject. It also offers the Virtual Training Suite which provides free online tutorials for over 65 subjects. Recent surveys found that students and faculty want improved access to electronic resources and better information literacy skills, which Intute aims to address through its evolving services.

We know we want to create products which our customers find to be valuable. Whether we label it as customer-centric or product-led depends on how long we've been doing product management. There are three challenges we face when doing this.
