The SWITCH Asia Network Facility was established by the European Commission to organize the sharing of sustainable consumption and production (SCP) project experiences across Asia, facilitate policy uptake, and network target groups. It supports projects that upscale proven SCP practices and approaches, reach large numbers of businesses and consumers, contribute to policy changes, and deliver measurable impacts on consumption and production patterns. More information is available on the European Commission and SWITCH Asia websites.

On Wednesday 15 January 2020 the OECD hosted a second webinar in the series of Adverse Outcome Pathways (AOPs). It focused on the importance of weight of evidence in the process of developing AOPs, the types and lines of evidences assembled, examples demonstrating the lines of evidence and understanding why quantitative AOPs are developed. The AOP framework is a collaborative tool that applies an innovative approach for collecting mechanistic knowledge from various sources that can eventually support chemical safety assessment. Magda Sachana from the OECD Environment Directorate introduced the presenters and scope of the webinar.

UNICEF has carried out sustainability checks of their water and sanitation programmes in East and West Africa, and in Asia. This presentation reviews what these checks have in common, the methods used and disparities in data aggregation. Key results for water supply (functionality rates and service provider performance) and sanitation (latrine functionality and open defecation) are provided. It concludes with an overview of the impact of conducting sustainability checks and recommendations on the methodology and and use. ENVRI-FAIR has received funding from the EU to enhance the accessibility and interoperability of environmental research infrastructures (RIs). The project aims to develop common data standards and services across 13 RIs to make their data FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable). This will improve scientists' efficiency and productivity by establishing harmonized policies and sustainable data management practices at each step of the data lifecycle.
