5. General education
• General education should be supplemented by additional
training to bring youth’s skills closer to those required by the
labour market.
• Our curriculum should be designed to embed 21st Century
Skills for 21st Century jobs.
• The Skills young people acquire should solve problems in their
communities.
6. Technical & Core Skills
• One of the major drivers of youth unemployment in Sub-
Saharan Africa countries is lack of both technical skills as well
as core skills.
7. 3 things we need to do;
• 1. Opportunity:
• By providing youth with basic skills and access to secondary
and tertiary education.
2. Capability:
• Making youth capable of making informed decisions which
could be achieved through access to better information.
8. • 3. Second chance opportunities:
• Giving at-risk youth who have dropped out of school an
opportunity to acquire basic knowledge and competencies of
the labour market.
• These skills should be able to meet the needs of the market.
