The rusty crayfish is invading and causing problems in the Great Lakes region. It is pushing out native crayfish and eating fish and their eggs. The rusty crayfish was introduced through people using them for fishing bait, science classes, and as pets, and they are now outcompeting other species. Efforts are being made to stop further introductions and fight the rusty crayfish, which can grow large and aggressively pinch people.
