Common fish species raised on fish farms include salmon, catfish, tilapia, and cod. These fish are intensively farmed in many parts of the world.

2. What Is Pisciculture?
 The breeding, rearing, and transplantation of fish
by artificial means is called Pisciculture, in other
words, fish farming.
 It involves raising fish commercially in tanks or
enclosures, usually for food.
 Fish species raised by fish farms include salmon,
catfish, tilapia and cod.

3. Types Of Fishes reared
 Salmon Fish - It lives along the coasts of both the
North Atlantic and Pacific Oceans , and have also
been introduced into the Great Lakes of North
America. Salmon are intensively produced in
aquaculture in many parts of the world.
 Catfish – These are a diverse group of ray-finned fish.
Catfish range in size and behavior from the heaviest
and longest. Extant catfish species live in coastal
waters of every continent except Antarctica. Catfish
are most diverse in tropical South America, Africa, and
Asia.

4.  Tilapia Fish - Tilapia inhabit a variety of fresh water habitats
including shallow streams, ponds, rivers and lakes.
Historically they have been of major importance in artisan
fishing in Africa and are of increasing importance in
aquaculture. China is the largest Tilapia producer in the
world, followed by Egypt.
 Cod Fish- Cod is a popular food with a mild flavor, low fat
content and a dense, flaky white flesh. Cod livers are
processed to make cod liver oil, which is an important
source of vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E.In the United
Kingdom, cod is one of the most common ingredients in fish
and chips. It is also frequently consumed in Portugal and
Spain.
