In 2015 a unique partnership 
between Leeds City Council and 
Voluntary Action Leeds will see 
the introduction of a new employer 
supported volunteering service 
exclusively for employees of Leeds 
City Council. Brendan Tannam will 
be starting work in January, 
providing employees and managers 
with a tailored service to support 
them to make the most of the 
opportunities afforded by 
volunteering. Watch this space for

and what help and support he can 
offer.

A new volunteering initiative for 
2015 sees Leeds City Council 
encouraging employees to provide 
short term support for the 
smallest of our local community 
organisations. Some of our most 
vibrant and important local 
organisations are small groups, 
with little or no funding, who 
make a HUGE difference to the lives 
of local people. But they also 
often lack access to some of the 
most basic professional skills that 
they need: perhaps, how to set up 
an accounts system, what plants 
will thrive on that wasteland they
i Volunteer Leeds 
are turning into a community 
garden, or how to write a successful 
funding bid. And we have a Council 
full of professional staff with all the 
skills they could ever need and more. 
From 2015 we will be asking 
organisations to tell us what help we 
might provide them for a few hours 
only that would make a HUGE difference 
to them making a HUGE difference for 
local people. And we will be looking 
for employees who are willing to offer 
those few hours to help a small group.

if you think that you have the sort 
of skills someone might be looking for 
and are willing to join a register of 
staff who would consider such requests,

  • 1. i Volunteer Leeds Latest news/1 In 2015 a unique partnership between Leeds City Council and Voluntary Action Leeds will see the introduction of a new employer supported volunteering service exclusively for employees of Leeds City Council. Brendan Tannam will be starting work in January, providing employees and managers with a tailored service to support them to make the most of the opportunities afforded by volunteering.   • 2. i Volunteer Leeds Latest news/2 A new volunteering initiative for 2015 sees Leeds City Council encouraging employees to provide short term support for the smallest of our local community organisations. Some of our most vibrant and important local organisations are small groups, with little or no funding, who make a HUGE difference to the lives of local people. But they also often lack access to some of the most basic professional skills that they need: perhaps, how to set up an accounts system, what plants will thrive on that wasteland they
  • 3. i Volunteer Leeds are turning into a community garden, or how to write a successful funding bid. And we have a Council full of professional staff with all the skills they could ever need and more. From 2015 we will be asking organisations to tell us what help we might provide them for a few hours only that would make a HUGE difference to them making a HUGE difference for local people. And we will be looking for employees who are willing to offer those few hours to help a small group.
