IT@school is an information technology project launched in 2001 in Kerala, India with the aim of fostering ICT-enabled education in schools. It made IT a compulsory subject in schools in 2005. IT@school implements ICT training and infrastructure for over 12,000 schools and 1.6 million students annually. It was transformed into Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) in 2017 to continue expanding ICT integration across the state's education system.

2. An information technology project.

Aim :To foster ICT (Information and Communications Technology)
enabled education in schools.

4. The first breakthrough of this project came in 2005, when IT was made a
compulsory subject in school.
The targeted group of this project is the dynamic group of students,
teachers and parents, but primarily the students.
Enhances the role of IT as a teaching aid for learning all subjects.
It is the nodal agency for implementing EDUSAT network and runs an
exclusive channel for education called VICTORS.

5. Helped to remodel teaching methodologies in classrooms through the
use of Information Technology.
Implemented in 12,000 schools in Kerala which follows the state
syllabus.
Provides ICT enabled education to 1.6 million students and 20,000
teachers per year.
It has a network of 160 master trainers and 5600 school IT co-ordinators
statewide.
ACHIEVEMENTS

6. It also conducts specialized training for visually challenged teachers in
the state.
In association with BSNL, the project provide internet broadband
connectivity to all high schools in Kerala.
During 2007-2012, IT@SCHOOL provided ICT infrastructure to 4071
schools.
In 2016, it reinitiated the ICT intervention in Lower Primary and Upper
Primary sections, by launching exclusive ICT textbooks viz; Kalipetti
and e@vidya.

7. Almost 1.5 lakhs teachers from std 1 to 12 have been enhanced with ICT
skills, making them to teach effectively with ICT tools.
Through ‘Hi school kuttikoottam’ programme, launched by IT@SCHOOL,
over one lakh students are provided with trainings in five different areas
like animation, cyber safety, hardware, electronic and Malayalam
computing.
Provide computer handling training to teachers.
Enhanced the unique scheme for the electrification of classrooms.

In August 2017, IT@school was transformed into Kerala Infrastructure
and Technology for Education ( KITE ).
