The document discusses ISO 14001, an international standard for environmental management systems. ISO 14001 provides a framework for organizations to manage their environmental responsibilities and impacts in a systematic way. It helps organizations improve their environmental performance, fulfill compliance obligations, and achieve financial and market benefits. The 2015 version of ISO 14001 expanded its coverage of topics such as leadership engagement, risk management, and life cycle perspectives. Organizations can get certified to ISO 14001 by developing an environmental management system, undergoing a third-party audit, and demonstrating conformance to the standard's requirements.
This presentation highlights thirteen reasons why you should (if you haven't already) be looking to adopt ISO 14001:2004.

The presentation provides a basic understanding of the Environmental Management System certification ISO 14001 with regard to mineral based industries.
This is just an insight in to the std. It requires constant review inline with the regular amendments brought in by the regulatory body from time to time .
ISO 14000 bears the potential to revolutionize the environmental industry, which historically operated on "command AND control," by proposing to now operate it on a "self-regulatory" basis.
Introduction to Environmental Management Systems
The ISO 14000 series of International Standards emphasise the importance of audits as a management tool for monitoring and verifying the effective implementation of an organisation's quality and/or environmental policy.
Audits are also an essential part of conformity assessment activities such as external certification/registration and of supply chain evaluation and surveillance.
To obtain comprehensive and practical understanding and application of the ISO 14000 as well as to understand what is required in order to effectively manage the same and the benefits of compliance

Environmental management systems by Abu Khairul BasharAbu Khairul Bashar
An EMS is a set of management processes and procedures that allows an organization to evaluate, control, and reduce the environmental impacts of its activities, products, and services and operate with greater efficiency and control.
According to ISO 14001 - “The part of the overall management system that includes organizational structure, planning activities, responsibilities, practices, procedures, processes and resources for developing, implementing, achieving, reviewing and maintaining the environmental policy.”
ISO 14001 is the international standard for environmental management systems (EMS) and the most widely used EMS in the world, with over 14,000 organizations certified in the UK and over 360,000 ISO 14001 certificates issued globally.
ISO 14001 is the principal management system standard which specifies the requirements for the formulation and maintenance of an EMS. This helps to control your environmental aspects, reduce impacts and ensure legal compliance.
This implementation guide will help you run through the benefits, PDCA Cycle and Annex SL structure in detail for implementing ISO 14001.

Characterization and the Kinetics of drying at the drying oven and with micro...Open Access Research Paper
The objective of this work is to contribute to valorization de Nephelium lappaceum by the characterization of kinetics of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum. The seeds were dehydrated until a constant mass respectively in a drying oven and a microwawe oven. The temperatures and the powers of drying are respectively: 50, 60 and 70°C and 140, 280 and 420 W. The results show that the curves of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum do not present a phase of constant kinetics. The coefficients of diffusion vary between 2.09.10-8 to 2.98. 10-8m-2/s in the interval of 50°C at 70°C and between 4.83×10-07 at 9.04×10-07 m-8/s for the powers going of 140 W with 420 W the relation between Arrhenius and a value of energy of activation of 16.49 kJ. mol-1 expressed the effect of the temperature on effective diffusivity.

Micro RNA genes and their likely influence in rice (Oryza sativa L.) dynamic ...Open Access Research Paper
Micro RNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs molecules having approximately 18-25 nucleotides, they are present in both plants and animals genomes. MiRNAs have diverse spatial expression patterns and regulate various developmental metabolisms, stress responses and other physiological processes. The dynamic gene expression playing major roles in phenotypic differences in organisms are believed to be controlled by miRNAs. Mutations in regions of regulatory factors, such as miRNA genes or transcription factors (TF) necessitated by dynamic environmental factors or pathogen infections, have tremendous effects on structure and expression of genes. The resultant novel gene products presents potential explanations for constant evolving desirable traits that have long been bred using conventional means, biotechnology or genetic engineering. Rice grain quality, yield, disease tolerance, climate-resilience and palatability properties are not exceptional to miRN Asmutations effects. There are new insights courtesy of high-throughput sequencing and improved proteomic techniques that organisms’ complexity and adaptations are highly contributed by miRNAs containing regulatory networks. This article aims to expound on how rice miRNAs could be driving evolution of traits and highlight the latest miRNA research progress. Moreover, the review accentuates miRNAs grey areas to be addressed and gives recommendations for further studies.

Diabetes is a rapidly and serious health problem in Pakistan. This chronic condition is associated with serious long-term complications, including higher risk of heart disease and stroke. Aggressive treatment of hypertension and hyperlipideamia can result in a substantial reduction in cardiovascular events in patients with diabetes 1. Consequently pharmacist-led diabetes cardiovascular risk (DCVR) clinics have been established in both primary and secondary care sites in NHS Lothian during the past five years. An audit of the pharmaceutical care delivery at the clinics was conducted in order to evaluate practice and to standardize the pharmacists’ documentation of outcomes. Pharmaceutical care issues (PCI) and patient details were collected both prospectively and retrospectively from three DCVR clinics. The PCI`s were categorized according to a triangularised system consisting of multiple categories. These were ‘checks’, ‘changes’ (‘change in drug therapy process’ and ‘change in drug therapy’), ‘drug therapy problems’ and ‘quality assurance descriptors’ (‘timer perspective’ and ‘degree of change’). A verified medication assessment tool (MAT) for patients with chronic cardiovascular disease was applied to the patients from one of the clinics. The tool was used to quantify PCI`s and pharmacist actions that were centered on implementing or enforcing clinical guideline standards. A database was developed to be used as an assessment tool and to standardize the documentation of achievement of outcomes. Feedback on the audit of the pharmaceutical care delivery and the database was received from the DCVR clinic pharmacist at a focus group meeting.

16. How do I get ISO 14001 Certification?
Organizations that have already achieved ISO 14001 certification are encouraged to transition to
the 2015 version. Organizations will have a three-year transition period to update their
environmental management systems to the new standard.
To get started with ISO 14001:2015:
Review existing quality management system (ISO 9001:2015)
Purchase ISO 14001:2015
Get ISO 14001 training
Consult with a third-party registrar/auditor: for more guidance, read When should you bring an
ISO registrar on board?
Certify to ISO 14001
ISO International Standards ensure that products and services are safe, reliable and of good quality. For business, they are strategic tools that reduce costs by minimizing waste and errors and increasing productivity.
The ISO 14000 family of standards provides practical tools for companies and organizations of all kinds looking to manage their environmental responsibilities.
ISO 14001:2015 and its supporting standards such as ISO 14006:2011 focus on environmental systems to achieve this. The other standards in the family focus on specific approaches such as audits, communications, labelling and life cycle analysis, as well as environmental challenges such as climate change.
