This document summarizes a research study that investigated whether urban Indian consumers would be interested in and willing to pay more for clothing with eco-labels. It provides background on eco-labels and the textile industry in India. The study surveyed consumers in major Indian cities to identify different segments based on their environmental consciousness, views on certification, and willingness to pay more for eco-labeled clothing. The results suggest there is a segment of Indian consumers who are positively motivated toward eco-labeled garments and willing to pay a premium.
Environmental effects and waste management practices of materials for local f...Premier Publishers
Food packaging materials serve as a means of protecting, distributing and marketing foods. When the wastes from these packaging materials are not properly managed, they affect the environment in several ways. This study was conducted to assess the different materials for packaging local foods, their environmental effects, and the management of the waste from these packaging materials in the Birim Central Municipality, Ghana. Data were collected using a semi- structured questionnaire administered to 300 randomly selected respondents. Data collection was complemented with field observation at public places and analyzed using SPSS version 16 software package. Results showed that about 9 out of 10 (88%) of the respondents used plastics for packaging local foods. A large percentage (85%) of the respondents did not practice source separation of the packaging waste prior to disposal. More than half (53.7%) of the respondents dumped the waste into communal waste containers, about one-third (33.3%) burnt the waste, and few (13.0%) buried the waste in the soil. Most of the respondents, 9 out of 10 (95%) reduced waste generation, 41.2% of the respondents reused plastic packaging materials to repackage other food and non-food items, and 32% sent the waste to recycling companies. Plastics packaging waste deteriorated the natural beauty of the environment and blocked sewage drains.

Development of Wood-Plastic Composite at Dedan Kimathi University of Technolo...IJERA Editor
Disposal of plastics and other solid wastes has been a major problem in Kenya. Most of these wastes can be
recycled through various ways and methods to produce new products. Plastics can be combined with sawdust to
develop composite materials for applications such as in building. In this project, a wood-plastic composite
(WPC) was developed from sawdust and plastic solid wastes.
The composite bore the advantages of both wood and plastics which can be applied in various sectors including
interior design work and in automotive among others, thereby curbing the problem of garbage accumulation in
the environment. The project provides eco-friendly solutions by making best use of the available resources
(wood and plastic resins) thus, finding sustainable solutions to the problem of limited waste dumping sites and
deforestation in the country. The composites were made from PP and HDPE thermoplastics and mahogany
sawdust obtained from our wood workshop in Dedan Kimathi University. From the tests carried out and results
obtained, it was found that, the composite has more advantages than the individual constituent materials.
Water absorption test revealed that all the samples took up water though not as much pronounced as for plain
sawdust. Additionally, the rate of water reduction was found to be excellent. They took less time to release the
absorbed water to the environment meaning that they can be applied in humid or wet environ. The composite
samples were easy to machine since they were easily shaped using a handsaw.

Consumer’s Attitude towards Environmental Sustainability while Purchasing Cov...AI Publications
Environmental sustainability is a term that is of huge relevance to the current as well as the forthcoming generation. It primarily attempts to avoid actions that deplete natural resources in order to maintain ecological equilibrium. Sustainable practices enable a person to consider the future needs of the resources being consumed today. It influences the consumption patterns exhibited by a person. Covid 19 pandemic triggered the demand for a wide range of Covid 19 essential products like N95 masks, sanitizers, etc. As these products are in a huge surge, it is also important to understand the effects they have on environmental sustainability and the attitude of consumers towards the idea of green Covid 19 goods. The goal of this study is to determine the attitude of consumers towards environmental sustainability when purchasing Covid 19 products. A quantitative method is adopted for the study with a sample size of 200, collected using a convenient sampling method. After a detailed analysis of the data collected, we concluded that Environmental Protection, Perceived Availability Barrier, Perceived Quality/Performance Barrier, Perceived time barrier & Personal Norms have a significant influence in consumer’s attitude towards environmental sustainability. We believe that our research findings will build on the existing body of knowledge by addressing the way consumers prioritize their eco-friendly purchases.
A Review of Issues in Environmentally Conscious Manufacturing and Product Re...IJMER
Environmentally Conscious Manufacturing and Product Recovery (ECMPRO) has become an
obligation to the environment and to the society itself, enforced primarily by governmental regulations
and customer perspective on environmental issues. This is mainly driven by the escalating deterioration
of the environment, e.g. diminishing raw material resources, over owing waste sites and increasing
levels of pollution. ECMPRO involves integrating environmental thinking into new product development
including design, material selection, manufacturing processes and delivery of the product to the
consumers, plus the end-of-life management of the product after its useful life. ECMPRO related issues
have found a large following in industry and academia who aim to find solutions to the problems that
arise in this newly emerged research area. Problems are widespread including the ones related to life cycle of products, disassembly, material recovery, and emanufacturing and pollution prevention.
Environmental policy implications of packaging waste disposal practices in Ni...Premier Publishers
The study was conducted to assess the practices and technologies of disposing packaging wastes generated within and outside food processing firms. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire that was administered to 40 randomly selected food processing firms in Oyo and Lagos State of Nigeria. Data were also collected through key formant interview and participant observation. Data obtained were analysed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 16. Results showed that packaging materials of various types, design and volume were used by the firms studied, most of which get accumulated in the municipality due to eat and throw habit of the users. More than 62% of the firms used polyethylene/plastic packaging materials which have high implication for environmental pollution. A minimal percentage of between 1-5% of the packaging materials used became waste at the end of the production processes. In selecting packaging materials, product attractiveness ranked highest (4.05 ± 0.29) with little consideration for package disposal, biological degradability and environmental consideration. A large number of the food firms (94.6%) manage wastes generated within their premises mostly through burning / bury and are not responsible for waste generated by their products in the municipality.

Understanding User Needs and Satisfying ThemAggregage
https://www.productmanagementtoday.com/frs/26903918/understanding-user-needs-and-satisfying-them
We know we want to create products which our customers find to be valuable. Whether we label it as customer-centric or product-led depends on how long we've been doing product management. There are three challenges we face when doing this. The obvious challenge is figuring out what our users need; the non-obvious challenges are in creating a shared understanding of those needs and in sensing if what we're doing is meeting those needs.
In this webinar, we won't focus on the research methods for discovering user-needs. We will focus on synthesis of the needs we discover, communication and alignment tools, and how we operationalize addressing those needs.
Industry expert Scott Sehlhorst will:
• Introduce a taxonomy for user goals with real world examples
• Present the Onion Diagram, a tool for contextualizing task-level goals
• Illustrate how customer journey maps capture activity-level and task-level goals
• Demonstrate the best approach to selection and prioritization of user-goals to address
• Highlight the crucial benchmarks, observable changes, in ensuring fulfillment of customer needs
