2. SYNTHESIS
• The control of size, shape and composition of
nanoparticles depends on the type of salts
used (e.g. chlorides, sulphates, nitrates,
perchlorates, etc.), Fe2+ and Fe3+ ratio, pH and
ionic strength of the media
3.
4. Co-precipitation
• This is the most conventional method and is
also used by several commercial production
plants for the synthesis of magnetic or black
iron oxides. This method consists of mixing
ferric (Fe-III) and ferrous ions (Fe-II) in strong
basic conditions. PH of the medium, ionic
strength and ratio of salts are the factors
which affect the quality of nanoparticles
prepared.
5. sSet up for Fe2O3 nanoparticle synthesis by co
precipitation method
6. • Ammonium hydroxide is poured in burette
and one flask containing deionized distilled
water & after reaching the thermal
equilibrium of flask heated over mantle at 90
degree celcius, add FeCl2.4H2O and
continuously stir the flask, now upon addition
of 0.7 mole of 100ml NH4OH with addition
rate of 0.007mole/sec Fe2O3 ppt obtained.
