Seismic vulnerability of flat plate column joint with out slab shear reinforc...eSAT Journals
Abstract During an earthquake, a brittle punching failure can arise in flat plate-column connections due to poor transfer capacity of shearing forces and unbalanced moments. To increase the shear capacity of the slab, various types of shear reinforcement can be used in the slab around the connection. The aim of the project is to study the response of slab column connections containing without slab shear reinforcement when subjected to combined gravity and cyclic lateral loading. At first a calibration model was developed to simulate the tested flat plate-column joint using finite element analysis program MASA. This model was used to predict the load displacement behaviour. The predicted behaviour was compared with the observed behaviour as reported by James Lee & Ian Robertson (Ref.4). The comparison showed that the model predicts the load level excellently but significantly over estimates the stiffness of the joint compared to that observed by James Lee & Ian Robertson. Since the present study is to compare the relative behaviour of slab-column joints provided without slab shear reinforcement, the error in the estimation of joint stiffness will not alter the comparative conclusions drawn. Thus, the developed model was validated for application to various types of column slab connection behaviour. Keywords: Flat plate, slab column joint, punching shear, Drift and cyclic lateral loading

Assessment of seismic damage of multistory structures using fragility curvesIJERA Editor
Performance-based design, PBD, is gaining popularity and its concept hasbeen applied in many international
seismic building codes. In this research, five real structures designed according to the Egyptian Building Code,
which does not consider PBD, are considered and modeled in a three dimensional way using the software
SeismoStruct in order to assess their performance under expected earthquakes. The structures are 2-story, 4-
story, 6-story, 8-story and 10-story reinforced concrete framed structures. The structural system of these
structures is of the moment-resisting frame type, with and without shear walls. The structures weredesigned
under dead, live and seismic forces of “Zone 3” with a design acceleration of 0.15g.The models were analyzed
using incremental dynamic analysis, IDA, considering 12 real records of historical earthquakes. IDA curves
were developed for all analyzed models, considering four damage states. Fragility curves were subsequently
developed to provide an overview of the expected seismic performance of a typical low or mid-rise multistory
reinforced concrete framed structure in Egypt as designed in accordance with thecurrent Egyptian Building
Code.

Abstract
Misalignment and unbalancing are the most possible causes of machine vibrations. A misaligned rotor always causes more vibration and generates excessive force in the bearing area and reduces the life of the machine. Coupling misalignment is a condition where the shaft of the driver machine and the driven machine are not on the same centerline. The non-coaxial condition can be parallel misalignment or angular misalignment. The more common condition is a combination of the two in both the horizontal and vertical direction. We are forced into this situation of coupling alignment because equipment from different suppliers must be mated together. Misalignment is temperature dependent. All materials expand with increasing temperature, and metal is no exception. Motors warm up several degrees, and the driven machine may warm up or cool down from ambient depending on the fluid it is handling. Understanding and practicing the fundamentals of rotating shaft parameters is the first step in reducing unnecessary vibration, reducing maintenance costs and increasing machine uptime. By the term two planes in our work, we mean that two rotors are used for the analysis of misaligned vibrations. If only one rotor is used then this system is called a single plane system. In this paper, experimental studies were performed on a 2 rotor dynamic test apparatus to predict the vibration spectrum for rotor misalignment. A 4 Jaw flexible coupling was used in the experiments. The rotor shaft accelerations were measured at rotor speed of 30 Hz i.e. 1800 RPM using accelerometer and a Dual Channel Vibration Analyzer (DCVA) under the aligned (baseline) and misaligned conditions. The experimental frequency spectrum was also obtained for both baseline and misaligned condition under different misaligned forces. The experimental results of aligned and misaligned rotors are compared at two different rotor locations.

Grinding wheels are made of natural or synthetic abrasive minerals bonded together in a matrix to form a wheel. For manufacturers, grinding wheels provide an efficient way to shape and finish metals and other materials. Grinding wheels are the only way to create parts with precision dimensions and high-quality surface finishes. At this time, grinding wheels are used in almost every industry. Manufacturing of a grinding wheel consist of mixing abrasive grains, binders and bonding materials. Three important components, abrasive grains with binders and bonding materials, make up any grinding wheel. The, additives are mixed to create a wheel with the properties necessary to shape a particular material in the manner desired. Abrasive grains include the central part of any grinding wheel, and the toughness and friability of the grinding materials will significantly affect the behavior of a given wheel. In the next step the ingredient mix is poured into the mold and compressed by a hydraulic press. Most grinding wheels are manufactured by the compression method, in which a mixture of components is pressed into shape at room temperature. The wheel is then fired at 200 0C-1260 0C depending upon the type of the bond. The purposes of the firing are to melt the binder around the abrasives and to convert it to a form that will resist the heat and solvents encountered during grinding. Variety of furnaces is used to fire grinding wheels. After firing, wheels are moved to a finishing area, where holes are reamed to the specified size and the wheel circumference is made concentric with the center. Some work may be necessary to correct thickness or parallelism of wheel sides, or to make a special contour on the side or circumference of the wheel. Sometimes balancing of large wheels is necessary to reduce the vibration that will be generated when the wheel is spun on a grinding machine.

Courier management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
It is now-a-days very important for the people to send or receive articles like imported furniture, electronic items, gifts, business goods and the like. People depend vastly on different transport systems which mostly use the manual way of receiving and delivering the articles. There is no way to track the articles till they are received and there is no way to let the customer know what happened in transit, once he booked some articles. In such a situation, we need a system which completely computerizes the cargo activities including time to time tracking of the articles sent. This need is fulfilled by Courier Management System software which is online software for the cargo management people that enables them to receive the goods from a source and send them to a required destination and track their status from time to time.

The proposed project is developed to manage the automobile in the automobile dealer company. The main module in this project is login, automobile management, customer management, sales, complaints and reports. The first module is the login. The automobile showroom owner should login to the project for usage. The username and password are verified and if it is correct, next form opens. If the username and password are not correct, it shows the error message.
When a customer search for a automobile, if the automobile is available, they will be taken to a page that shows the details of the automobile including automobile name, automobile ID, quantity, price etc. “Automobile Management System” is useful for maintaining automobiles, customers effectively and hence helps for establishing good relation between customer and automobile organization. It contains various customized modules for effectively maintaining automobiles and stock information accurately and safely.
When the automobile is sold to the customer, stock will be reduced automatically. When a new purchase is made, stock will be increased automatically. While selecting automobiles for sale, the proposed software will automatically check for total number of available stock of that particular item, if the total stock of that particular item is less than 5, software will notify the user to purchase the particular item.
Also when the user tries to sale items which are not in stock, the system will prompt the user that the stock is not enough. Customers of this system can search for a automobile; can purchase a automobile easily by selecting fast. On the other hand the stock of automobiles can be maintained perfectly by the automobile shop manager overcoming the drawbacks of existing system.

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.
