“IPAD HMI” MAKES CAR WASH
AUTOMATION MOBILE
 35 years in electrical contracting and designing /
building control solutions.
 Located in Akron OH, CCS began in 2000 in response
to a need for uniquely designed and custom built
solutions to automation needs.
 Joined with Pro Tech Systems Group in 2010. PTSG is a
systems integrator to the Water/Waste Water industry
and a user of Indusoft products for many years.
 UL508A listing
 Custom Control Specialists operates
primarily as an OEM of control systems
to manufacturers and distributors of
automated car wash equipment.
 Installations in nearly every US state,
and Canada, Mexico, Europe, Asia,
and Australia.
 Custom Control Specialists’ premier product line is the Guardian
Wash Command, a PLC based automated tunnel car wash
controller.
 As an OEM control solution, the Guardian Wash Command must be adaptable to
any combination of equipment types, applications, and configurations that may
be required in the particular wash location. Every car wash is a unique location
with unique equipment layouts, chemical applications, and retail wash package
offerings. All these variables need to be configured in the field, by personnel of
varying technical skills.
 The retail car wash industry is very
competitive.
 Car washes rely on customers’
discretionary income and the ability to
spend on additional services for their
vehicle.
 Car wash operation size is determined by
local demographics.
 Large and small car wash firms alike can
compete if their locations are favorable
and their operations are efficient.
 CCS’s objective beyond just providing
hardware is to offer additional efficiencies
and automation to help them compete
and provide an pleasing experience for
the car wash customer.
 Many car wash controllers are PC based.
 Setup and monitoring are limited to being
in front of the PC station.
 The Guardian Wash Command system is
a PLC based car wash controller… but…
 Typical installations include traditional
touch screen terminals.
 Installers and maintenance personnel are
still required to return back to a fixed
location to interface with the controller.
 A solution was needed that allowed the
flexibility of remote connectivity without
expensive interface equipment.
 Tablets and smart phones have become
part of everyday life, practically
eliminating a learning curve to use them
in the work place.
 Replacement due to damage or loss is as
easy as the local electronics store.
InduSoft Web Studio was chosen for:
 Our familiarity with the product
 Proven use in water /waste water SCADA
 Advanced alarming management
 Pricing to fit our budget
