Why Silicon Valley kicks Europe's buttLoic Le Meur
I love Europe and I created 7 years ago LeWeb with my wife Geraldine to help european entrepreneurs get more competitive, but Pablo Larguia and Jose-Maria Figueres invited me to keynote La Red Innova on the reasons why Silicon Valley is ahead.
I wanted to be honest and share a few reasons why I think Silicon Valley wins, some are easy to fix, others much more complicated.
I think the most important one is what goal you set for yourself. If your goal is to dominate Madrid or Paris in your niche, you might just succeed, but if you set yourself such a local goal, there is low chance you’re actually going to build a global success and be the best in the world at what you do.
It’s the key, most people I know in Silicon Valley dream about building a world leader, not a local leader, it’s a question of attitude, and THAT is easy to change. Think more in english and more global, you might be able to achieve your dreams, but they have to be the right dreams.

Towards a Digital Ecology: The New Organization's Digital FootprintJai (Phillip) Djwa
Ten years ago, many not-for-profit organizations didn't have a single website online and often struggled to create them. Today, many organizations have multiple websites: their main site, microsites, specific campaign sites, maybe even some program sites.
Add in Facebook and Twitter and the struggle required to maintain this digital footprint becomes obvious. All these websites form a digital brand that represents your organization's digital ecology.
This web presence, or digital ecology, needs to be thought through strategically. You need to explore this interconnectedness by answering basic questions like
How should all these connect?
When do you kill a site?
When do you launch a microsite and when do you add another navigation item?

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

Experiences with Enterprise Social Media
How to introduce it successfully?
People can’t stop talking about it: Social Media. A number of organizations have quickly discovered that the
dynamics of social networks and social media tools can be used for internal communications and collaboration
processes and for stimulating innovation and idea sharing. These organizations share their experiences at the
Round table events organized by Rapid Circle. Because of the high level of interest displayed we are organizing
two sessions this time.
There will be ample time to exchange ideas, visions, reservations and common mistakes
with experts, colleagues and business managers. You will return home with fresh
perspectives and ideas that you will be able to use in your own organization.
June 10th: How to introduce Social Media successfully, with a case by Philips
June 17th: The role of governance and the benefit of Social media vs the Hype
Theme
The use of Enterprise Social Media is growing. What is the role of these tools? Does
it improve knowledge management or is it just about communication? Who uses it?
Do you use stand alone tools or is it part of the corporate intranet? What functionality
should be deployed? Just a few of the questions commonly discussed. However change
management might be the most important and least understood focus area. How do
organizations successfully introduce Enterprise Social Media and obtain employee buy-in? These are the central
questions in the next two Round tables.
Philips launched an enterprise social community by word of mouth and within 2 weeks had +5,000 employees
on-board. Hear from Cameron Batten what they have learned and where they are headed! Coos de Groot
will share his experiences at Achmea. Achmea adopted an integrated approach where buy-in and adoption by
departments and employees was the main focus.
The afternoons will contain two keynote presentations and will be all about exchanging information. There will be
ample time for discussions and informal talks.
What is Enterprise Social Media
It is where people participate to exchange knowledge, experiences, and ideas on the basis of functionality
inspired by tools such as Twitter, Facebook, Slideshare, YouTube and LinkedIn. For internal use, between
collogues or with customers and stakeholders. Messages and content are no longer pushed but posted. In
this way all information and expertise is easily retrievable and a pull is created instead of a push. It creates a
dynamic in which all contributions to the success and productivity of an organization contributes to the success
of the employee.
When: June 10th & June 17th 2010, 14:30

table for commercial purposes. Are you interested? Send an email (contact details are down the bottom) to Wilco Turnhout,
send a message through Twitter, or call him. Suggestions for relations that are potentially interested are also more then
welcome. We have to promote the power of social networks indeed. Each session is catered for 20 participants. The events
