 Ic’s Were Invented In The Place Of Vacuum Tubes And
Transistors
 In First Generation, Vacuum Tube Used In
Computers, As We All Know Vacuum Tube Have Some
Drawbacks That They Generate Lot Of Heat Which Become
Harmful For Other Components Of Computer
 In Second Generation, Transistors Were Used In Behalf
Of Vacuum Tubes, But Transistor Had Some Demerits That
Transistors Leaked The Current And Because Of That Other
Components Were Also Get Damage
 In Both Of Generation Their Had Some Drawbacks, To
Overcome The Drawbacks Ic’s Were Invented

 An Integrated Circuit Or Monolithic Integrated Circuit (Also
Referred To As Ic, Chip, Or Microchip) Is An Electronic Circuit.

There Are Two Main Advantages Of Ics Over Discrete Circuits :
Cost And Performance
 Cost Is Low Because The Chips, With All Their Components,
Rather Than Being Constructed One Transistor At A Time.
 Performance Is High Because The Components Switch Quickly
And Consume Little Power (Compared To Their Discrete
Counterparts)
 It Give Maximum Speed Rather Than Transistors And Vacuum
Tubes.

 A Potential Disadvantage Of Integrated Circuits Is The Cost
Of Replacing An IC That Has Failed.
 One Disadvantage Of Integrated Circuits Is That They Can Be
Unsuitable For Custom Designed Equipment, Because High
Volumes Are Needed In Order To Justify The Design And Tooling
Costs.
 While The Cost Of Buying A New Component May Be
Higher, The Labor Cost Of Diagnosing And Replacing It Is
Usually Lower.
