 It's a computer programming system developed
  and owned by Microsoft.
 It is a tool that allows you to develop Windows
  (Graphical User Interface-GUI) applications.
 It is event-driven, meaning code remains idle
until called upon to respond to some event
  (button pressing, menu selection,……)
 The basis of Visual Basic is an earlier
  programming language called BASIC (Beginner’s
  All-Purpose Symbolic Instruction Code).
 Full set of objects –you ‘draw’ the application
 Lots of icons and pictures for your use
 Response to mouse and keyboard actions
 Clipboard and printer access
 Full array of mathematical, string handling,
    and graphics functions
 Can handle fixed and dynamic variable and
    control arrays
 Sequential and random access file support
 Useful debugger and error-handling facilities
 Powerful database access tools
 ActiveX support
 Package & Deployment Wizard makes
    distributing your applications
 Faster complier
 New ActiveX data control object
 Allows database integration with wide variety
    of applications
 New data report designer
 New Package & Deployment Wizard
 Additional internet capabilities

       Form Window
 Menu Bar – a list of choices of command that
you can use to control the VB Environment.
 Tool Bar – a collections of button that
provides shortcuts or easy access to the
different command on the Menu Bar.
 Form- contains control, and it’s actions are
    defined by the code.
 Project Explorer Window - a tree-structured
view of all files inserted into the application

    View Code
                                             Toggle Folders

View Objects
 The Project Explorer Window is compose of
  three buttons:
1. View Code -were you write the different
programming statements you use in VB
2. View Objects - were you can continue
designing your FORM for the different user
   interface you will be creating
3. Toggle Folders- represents the grouping of
the different forms and module in your
   project
 Properties of Window – list all the properties
a control has and their value
 Form Layout Window – used to position or
arranged in all different Form on your
    computer screen
 Toolbox –consists of all the controls
essentials for developing in Visual Basic
    Application.
 These are used so you can calculate and
assign expression results to variables when
    you code assignment statements that
    contain expressions.
Operator Example Description
+ Net +Disc Adds two values
       - Price-4.00 Subtracts one value from another value
       *          Total*Fact     Multiplies two values
/ Tax/Adjust Divides one value by another value
       ^ Adjust^3 Raises a value to a power
    & (or +) Name 1 & Name 2 Concatenates two strings
Operators Order of precedence
() Values inside the parenthesis are always evaluated first
   ^ Exponentiation
    - Negation is third
*/ Multiplication and division are fourth
           Division is fifth
  Mod Remainder is sixth
+- Addition and Subtraction are last
