8. We could take the smallest of these to
represent the physical body
This is the body
of matter. The
majority of us
are aware of the
physical - via our
5 senses and
internal neural
pathways. It has
mass, texture
and a sense of
solidity.

9. The following are often referred to as
the Subtle Bodies
They are said to be in increasingly tenuous states
This is in a similar way to water existing as
Solid – ICE
Liquid – WATER
Liquid suspended in air – WATER VAPOUR
Elemental compounds – HYDROGEN & OXYGEN

if a condition, location or
the biochemistry can be
treated at the physical

…..it can also be treated –

12. The Etheric Body
is a duplicate of the body physical
with which it channels
information, energies and stimuli
into and within.
Some refer to this energy as ‘Life
Force’
It is integrated into and throughout
the body physical and remains for a
period of time after parts of the
physical have been removed e.g.
amputation of limbs/organs or
cutting away parts of a plant or leaf
– ‘Phantom Leaf Effect’

Seen to lie or interface between the
Etheric and Emotional bodies
It does not contain ‘Nothing’ !
A field of infinite potential energy which connects
everything
Where the transition into and out of physical matter is said
to occur – the interplay of
Formative and Release Forces

Self descriptive in title
Physical sensations in the
body arise from different
emotions e.g.
Butterflies in stomach
Dry mouth
Music and relaxation or
stimulation to move/dance
Mental attitudes are
affected by our experiences
– the greater the emotional
link the stronger the
‘learning’ or memory of that
experience
The emotional aspect of
ourselves is frequently
utilised both in our reaction
to life experiences and in
response to our mental
attitudes

mental body.
The Mental Body
Repeated thoughts (both
positive and negative)
influence and mould both
the higher subtle bodies
and affect the lower
bodies, including the
physical

Many people consider the
Astral body to be, or to
encompass the Emotional
Body
It is more developed in
cultures where
reincarnation and esoteric
beliefs are common and
accepted

past-life memories which
are held in the Causal Body

The development of a pathway to the Soul
The acknowledgement of ourselves as

creative power greater than ourselves

Carries the past life experiences of numerous
incarnations so that they have an implication on the
current life in physical form
It is moulded and changed by our attitudes to life’s
difficulties and opportunities

There are many names for this level but it is said to be
our true self without the contortions of life’s
emotional, mental, ego or personality effects
Past, present and future do not exist separately.
