Go: Why it goes
by Serhii Pichkurov
In this talk Serhii will talk about Go, also known as Golang – an open source language developed at Google and used in production by companies such as Docker, Dropbox, Facebook and Google itself. Go is now heavily used as a general-purpose programming language that’s a pleasure to use and maintain. This introductory talk contains many live demos of basic language concepts, concurrency model, simple HTTP-based endpoint implementation and, of course, tests using build-in framework. This presentation will be interesting for backend engineers and DevOps to understand why Go had become so popular and how it might help to build robust and maintainable services.
Join this session after which you can start coding using language that has static safe compiler, GC and is as fast as C++ or Java, with even simpler syntax than Python!

Data Visualization: Language Variation Suite and Interactive Text Mining SuiteOlga Scrivner
This workshop introduces two user-friendly applications, namely Language Variation Suite and Interactive Text Mining Suite, that allow researchers visually explore and statistically analyze language data. Written in R with Shiny app, these applications not only provide a web interactive interface, they also allow researchers implement state-of-the-art statistical methods, such as cluster analysis, topic modeling, inferential trees and mixed model logistic regressions.
With the ever increasing size of data and complexity of methods required to analyze them, the reproducibility of results is necessary to ensure a high quality of scientific research. In this workshop, we will discuss the main concepts and motivations for reproducible research (RR). Mr. Bhatnagar will then introduce useful tools for RR, including RStudio, knitr, and Markdown. We will work through several examples to see how these tools can be used to perform efficiently common tasks such as writing reports, Beamer presentations, running simulations, repetitive function calls that require single or multiple inputs to be changed, and sharing results. Basic knowledge of R and LaTeX is assumed.
In this tutorial, we learn to create dynamic documents using R Markdown. It enables us to create beautiful reports and presentations that are fully reproducible.
Data Visualization: Introduction to Shiny Web ApplicationsOlga Scrivner
In this workshop, I will introduce you to the concept of Declarative Reactive Web Frameworks, allowing for interactive user-friendly data visualization and data analytics, particularly Shiny. Language-agnostic data analysis workflows and reproducible researchAndrew Lowe
This was a talk that I gave at CERN at the Inter-experimental Machine Learning (IML) Working Group Meeting in April 2017 about language-agnostic (or polyglot) analysis workflows. I show how it is possible to work in multiple languages and switch between them without leaving the workflow you started. Additionally, I demonstrate how an entire workflow can be encapsulated in a markdown file that is rendered to a publishable paper with cross-references and a bibliography (and with raw LaTeX file produced as a by-product) in a simple process, making the whole analysis workflow reproducible. For experimental particle physics, ROOT is the ubiquitous data analysis tool, and has been for the last 20 years old, so I also talk about how to exchange data to and from ROOT.

This lecture is about The R Language use for statistical computing for beginners who want to start working on financial analytics using R software. Moreover, lecture is beneficial for finance professional who want to work on R for financial data analysis.
Sometimes you see code that is perfectly OK according to the definition of the language, but which is flawed because it breaks too many established idioms and conventions. On the other hand, a solid piece of code is something that looks like it is written by an experienced person who cares about professionalism in programming.

In software engineering, the right architecture is essential for robust, scalable platforms. Wix has undergone a pivotal shift from event sourcing to a CRUD-based model for its microservices. This talk will chart the course of this pivotal journey.
Event sourcing, which records state changes as immutable events, provided robust auditing and "time travel" debugging for Wix Stores' microservices. Despite its benefits, the complexity it introduced in state management slowed development. Wix responded by adopting a simpler, unified CRUD model. This talk will explore the challenges of event sourcing and the advantages of Wix's new "CRUD on steroids" approach, which streamlines API integration and domain event management while preserving data integrity and system resilience.
Participants will gain valuable insights into Wix's strategies for ensuring atomicity in database updates and event production, as well as caching, materialization, and performance optimization techniques within a distributed system.
Join us to discover how Wix has mastered the art of balancing simplicity and extensibility, and learn how the re-adoption of the modest CRUD has turbocharged their development velocity, resilience, and scalability in a high-growth environment.

SOCRadar Research Team: Latest Activities of IntelBrokerSOCRadar
The European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol) has suffered an alleged data breach after a notorious threat actor claimed to have exfiltrated data from its systems. Infamous data leaker IntelBroker posted on the even more infamous BreachForums hacking forum, saying that Europol suffered a data breach this month.
The alleged breach affected Europol agencies CCSE, EC3, Europol Platform for Experts, Law Enforcement Forum, and SIRIUS. Infiltration of these entities can disrupt ongoing investigations and compromise sensitive intelligence shared among international law enforcement agencies.
However, this is neither the first nor the last activity of IntekBroker. We have compiled for you what happened in the last few days. 2. Introduction
knitr is a package writen by Yihui Xie
generate dynamic documents
save you time
reproducible research
3. What are dynamic documents
mix source code and documentation together
computing languages + authoring languages
Here is the plot of the fitted model.
‘‘‘r, ,fig.height=3,fig.width=3, echo=T, results=’hide’
x<-c(1:10)
y<-x+rnorm(10)
par(mar=c(4,4,1,1))
plot(x,y,pch=16)
(lm1<-lm(y x))
abline(lm1)
‘‘‘
4. Tools in R
Sweave package
R+LaTeX
knitr package
R+LaTex
R+Markdown
other computing language (e.g. Python, C++, SAS, etc.)
Note:
LaTeX: “a high-quality typesetting system; it includes features
designed for the production of technical and scientific
documentation.”
Markdown: “a text-to-HTML conversion tool for web writers; it
allows to write using an easy-to-read, easy-to-write plain text
format, then convert it to structurally valid XHTML (or HTML).”
7. knitr
*.Rnw file: LaTeX document with embedded R code (R
Sweave document in RStudio)
*.Rmd file: Markdown document (R Markdown document in
RStudio)
no space in the file names for *.Rnw files, e.g.
Intro-to-knitr.Rnw
8. An example in LaTeX
=: mark the beginning of code chunks
@: terminate a code chunk
Sexpr { }: embed inline R code
12. Chunk options
syntax almost exactly the same as the syntax for function
aruments in R: option=value
e.g. echo=TRUE
fig.height=5
results=‘markup’
can have arbitrary valid R code
e.g. foo, eval = if(bar < 5)TRUE else FALSE =
chunk label does not have to follow the syntax rule
e.g. foo =
“foo” =
‘foo =
label = “foo” =
chunk label should have unique id
16. Beamer
Using knitr in beamer slides is similar to LaTeX documnets
Need to specify fragile option on beamer frames with
verbatim output
17. Other features
Cache: not re-execute a chunk if it has not been modified
cross reference: for both code chunks and child documents
hooks: user-defined R function to fulfill tasks beyond the
defult settings in knitr
18. Resources
