IGSN Symposium Purpose • Learn about IGSN, its use and processes associated with minting IGSNs • Hear about application of IGSN within the international scientific community and who are the major stakeholders • Discover how IGSN enables discovery and re-use of samples by linking samples to data and literature • Exchange information on sample identification, description and discovery • Discuss current sample management practices • Discuss the potential use of IGSN outside of the geosciences
IGSN Symposium Expected Outcomes • Build networks and identify areas for collaboration • Identify best practices in sample management • Identify best practices in recording and discovering sample information • Build a roadmap for broader adoption and implementation of IGSN in Australia • Define (additional) ways for minting IGSNs for samples in Australia
