FOAM FORMATION
A COMMON ISSUE IN LIQUID SYSTEM
Basically, FOAM does not form in apure liquid as
bubbles simply break at the surface.
In Reality, Air / Emulsion/Surfactant are
incorporate into liquid during production &
application process, and its cause of FOAM
FORMATION & STABILIATION
Macrofoam
 Located at the coating surface
 Foam bubble stabilized by surfactant
 Double layer (foam lamella)
Microfoam
 Located below coating layer
 Foam bubble stabilized by surfactant (“anchor mechanism”)
 Stabilised by high coating viscosity
(velocity of rising determined by Law of Stoke)

A COMMON ISSUE IN LIQUID SYSTEM
SURFACE DEFECTS
SLIP ADDITIVE
Slip additive oriented itself on the surface of paint film. The
repeating unit of methyl siloxane group & organo-
modification will be determine slip property of the silicone.
LEVELLING ADDITIVE
Orientation towards the surface by controlled incompatibility
The variation of Mw and Polarity will determine the levelling
property in each paint system.
FLOW ADDITIVE
Enhancing the wet-out & flow ability of uncured film to eliminate
surface defects such as craters, fisheye, orange peels, brush
mark during applications, derived by surface tension, viscosity
of paint atsystem
S
UBSTRATEWETTING ADDITIVE
All aqueous coatings cause problems on substrates whose
surface tension values are below the values of the coating.
Examples craters, pinholes, adhesion..

And other basic pigment paste properties viscosity and fineness have no different significant. And in addition, the observation of dispersing ability are not difficult to operate. Stability test over 7 day at 60 degree of Celsius haven’t seen changed or increase in viscosity and fineness compare to the initial result showed good stability performance.
