SIP - More than meets the eye
Speakers:
Ofer Cohen - VOIP Group Leader, LivePerson
Yossi Maimon - VOIP Technical Leader, LivePerson
An Introduction to the SIP protocol.
SIP Position in telecommunication networks and the content services.
What is SIP:
The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is a signaling communications protocol, widely used for controlling multimedia communication sessions such as voice and video calls over Internet Protocol (IP) networks.
The protocol defines the messages that are sent between peers which govern establishment, termination and other essential elements of a call. SIP can be used for creating, modifying and terminating sessions consisting of one or several media streams. SIP can be used for two-party (unicast) or multiparty (multicast) sessions. Other SIP applications include video conferencing, streaming multimedia distribution, instant messaging, presence information, file transfer, fax over IP and online games.

The new 3GPP codec for Enhanced Voice Services (EVS) offers important new features and improvements for low-delay real-time communication systems. Based on a novel, switched low-delay speech/audio codec, the EVS codec contains various advancements for better compression efficiency and higher quality for clean/noisy speech, mixed content and music, including support for wideband, super-wideband and full-band content. The EVS codec operates in a broad range of bitrates, is highly robust against packet loss and provides an AMR-WB compatible mode for compatibility with existing systems.
This presentation contain basic knowledge about how voIP work and what are the security threat in voIP. It will also contain how we can prevent attack on voIP system.
Open Ethernet: an open-source approach to modern network designAlexander Petrovskiy
The era of closed proprietary hardware platforms is coming to an end. Today, in the world of Web-scale IT, the industry is starting to adopt new approach, based on the principles of openness, scalabilty and customizability. However, in more conservative networking industry, traditional equipment and proprietary technologies from a single vendor are often being used, which limits the flexibility, prevents innovation and narrows down the choice.
The "Open Ethernet" initiative from Mellanox brings open source principles into the world of modern networking and allows customers to select the best hardware and software to design network infrastructure, based on open and standard protocols and technologies, also opening the way for broad adoption of SDN.
