Techno Engineering Works is a company that manufactures and sells power looms, Anugraha looms, Anupam looms, and spooling machines. It has 12 employees and was founded to support the coir and textile industries by providing machinery. The organization aims to be a leader in power loom manufacturing through quality customer service, relationships, and profitability. 3. INTRODUCTION
Organization is a social unit which is deliberately constructed and
reconstructed to seek specific goals. An organization comes into existence when there
are a number of persons in communication and relationship to each other and are
willing to contribute towards a common Endeavour. The evolution or organization
dates back to the early stages of human civilization when two or more persons began
to cooperate and combine together for fulfilling their basic needs of food, clothing,
shelter and protection of life. Thus, an organization is born when people combine their
efforts for some common purpose. It is a universal truth that an individual is unable to
fulfil his needs and desires alone because he lacks strength, ability, and resources. So
he seeks the cooperation of other people who share goals with him.
This study is done at Techno Engineering Works, Vadackal, Alappuzha. It
has been carried out to get an understanding of the structure and functioning of the
organization. This study undertaken to get an exposure to the functioning of different
departments of the company. It also helps to interact with the managers of the
company and to observe the workers at their work place and to act together with them.
Main purpose of the study is to get a clear-cut idea about the functioning of the
company.
Organization study is confined to 15 days based on the primary data obtained
from the company. This covers in brief in the present position of the Power loom
manufacturing industry and the company. Organization study is conducted by
personally visiting the company at Vadackal. Primary data have been collectedby
structured interview with the managers and other personnel of the company. All the
information about manufacturing process has been gathered by interacting with
different personnel of the company at various levels

4. OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY
Techno Engineering Works is a fastest growing company and is approved by
Coir board, with the objective of manufacturing and selling of Semi Automatic
Power Loom, Anugraha, Anupam Looms, Spooling Machine or Coir Yarn
Bobbin Winding Machine, limited range of machine tools, required for making
coir mates which is used for furnishing floors. It has been carried out to get an
understanding of the structure and functioning of the organization. Since the
last10 years company has working to supportthe coir industry. The company
also manufacture power looms which used to wave clothes. By that way
Company is also gives supportto textile industry too. In the earlier stage the
company only manufacture Power looms. But now the company also
manufacturing Spooling Machine and Anugraha, Anupam looms too. The
company has 12 workers to make the productmuch better than the competitors
who manufacture the power looms. The company has maintain an healthy
relation with the employees

6. INDUSTRY PROFILE
The coir yarn is usually spun using traditional charkas which are rotated manually by
a woman and the two ladies spin the fibre into yarn through the rotating spindles by
moving to and fro The traditional charkhas have been improved by providing a
quarter HP motor which yielded better wages to the spinners as well as to the lady
who is engaged for rotating the wheel and get only half the wages to that of spinners
The motorized ratts have further improved the working conditions so that the spinner
can now work in sitting posture and spin the coir fibre into yarn in the corner of her
house without bothering for inclement weather. A compactmotorized spinning ratt
with a single gear has been designed and fabricated. It is costeffective and requires
less maintenance. Patent has been applied for it. The Automatic spinning machines
has been developed by CICT with multiple heads so as to increase the production and
better wages for workers Designed and fabricated prototypes of Multi Spindle
System for spinning coir fibre Introduced an improved beaming mechanism working
on emery fillets for the preparation of warp beam, Improved the above mechanism by
fitting motor thereby increasing the productivity and quality of beaming. Designed
and fabricated prototypes of motorized beaming device for preparation of chain beam
for 1 meter and 2 meter wide mattings Fabricated a handloom having fly shuttle for
weaving light weight fabric. Introduced a compounded lever and treadle mechanism
in the woodenhandloom which increased output and reduced physical strain to the
weaver Introduced an improved technique for weaving of carnatic mats on loom with
two treadles resulting to higher productivity with reduced physical strain during
weaving process.
The mattings in different combination of colours and designs have been developed to
suit the customer requirements in terms of aesthetic appeal using different
constructions and comfort. It has been possible to reduce drudgery involved in the
weaving process bydeveloping 2 shaft and 4 shaft Semi Automatic loom that have

7. been popularized in the coir industry. A fully automatic Power Loom has been
developed for weaving coir in different designs. The designs of the loom have been
given to two leading exporters for manufacturing the looms. A technique for loom
less weaving of coir geo - textiles has been introduced so as to engage women
workers in the weaving operation to earn better wages
A metallic handloom "Anugraha" has been developed to make it suitable for the
women workers for earning better wages. The technology has been transferred to 12
machinery manufacturers.
The NRDC, New Delhi conferred the 'Technology Day Award' for the year 2004
to the scientists of CCRIinvolved in the development of the Anugraha Loom. His
Excellency The President of India Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam was the Chief guest in the
Award function. A fully automatic Power Loom has been developed for weaving coir
in different designs. The designs of the loom have been given to two leading
exporters for manufacturing the looms
The Power loom Development and Export Promotion Council (PDEXCIL) is the
nodal agency for the development and promotion of exports of power loom products.
The Council undertakes direct promotional activities such as participation in
international trade shows, sending and hosting trade delegations, and sustained
image-building exercises through advertisements abroad, publications and
audiovisuals.
