An Analysis of the Architecture of the Internet of Things.pdfCIOWomenMagazine
As we all know internet of things is a system of interrelated and inter-connected objects. These objects are able to collect and transfer data via a wireless network without any human intervention.
As objects become embedded with sensors and gain the ability to communicate,
the new information networks promise to create new business models, improve
business processes, and reduce costs and risks. One such Model is the internet of
things. Sensors and actuators are embedded in physical objects from roadways to
pacemakers are linked through wired and wireless networks, often using the same Internet
Protocol (IP) that connects the Internet. Internet of Things has great potential to support
society, to improve energy efficiency and to optimize various kinds of mobility and
transport at the same time. However, the Internet of Things raises significant
challenges that could stand in the way of reaping its potential benefits. Pitfalls
concerning cyber security, theft and hacking of personal and financial data are the
ones that are making people agitated.
Electronic devices used at home, workplaces, in a neighbourhood or in a large
urban landscape are connected and provide data which is accumulated and analyzed
for the benefit of its users. The ability of a simple cell phone connecting to other
devices, sensors in public, to regulate traffic and other civic institutions, shows how
IoT has merged with data and analytics of data plays a key role and will continue to
do so in the future.

Application and Usefulness of Internet of Things in Information TechnologyDr. Amarjeet Singh
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a system of
interrelated computing devices, mechanical and digital
machines, objects, animals or people that are provided with
unique identifiers and the ability to transfer data over a
network without requiring human-to-human or human-tocomputer interaction. It is an ambiguous term, but it is fast
becoming a tangible technology that can be applied in data
centers to collect information on just about anything that
IT wants to control. IoT has evolved from the convergence
of wireless technologies, micro-electromechanical systems
(MEMS), microservices and the internet. The convergence
has helped tear down the silo walls between operational
technology (OT) and information technology (IT), allowing
unstructured machine-generated data to be analyzed for
insights that will drive improvements. The Internet of
Things (IoT) is essentially a system of machines or objects
outfitted with data-collecting technologies so that those
objects can communicate with one another. The machineto-machine (M2M) data that is generated has a wide range
of uses, but is commonly seen as a way to determine the
health and status of things -- inanimate or living.
In this presentation, Shantanu introduces IoT and associated trends. His interest area lies in collaboration of cloud
computing and data management in IoT.
Internet of things (IoT) is an emerging technology today that envisions all objects around us as a part of
Internet. Automation of the devices, appliances at home and office is having extensive possibility of research
with the innovation of technology in communication. Misuse of power energy can be shortened by automating
the devices and appliances. Mobile communication is plays a major role in the automation domain. Android
phones are designed with applications to automate the required devices. Creating a mobile app on a Smartphone
device so that the user can control electronic devices; see the amount of flow, so the problem is the difficulty in
saving electricity can be resolved. IoT includes variety of objects like smart phones, tablets, digital cameras and
different sensors. When all these devices are connected together, they enable additional smart processes and
services that support our basic needs, environment and health. Massive number of devices connected to internet
provides enormous kinds of services and also produces huge amount of data and information. Cloud computing
is an on-demand access to a shared pool of configurable resources that can be provisioned as infrastructures,
software and applications. Cloud based platforms help to connect to the things around us so it is easy to connect
any objects anytime at any place using in built applications. Applications that use devices like sensors have
unique requirements of enormous storage to store big data and huge computation power to enable the real time
processing of the data, information and high speed network is required for audio and video streaming. Wireless
technologies like Bluetooth, WiFi, and ZigBee have been used in wide range of applications like modern home
security systems using low cost, low power, less complexity RF module.
WIRELESS SENSORS INTEGRATION INTO INTERNET OF THINGS AND THE SECURITY PRIMITIVEScsandit
The common vision of smart systems today, is by and large associated with one single concept,
the internet of things (IoT), where the whole physical infrastructure is linked with intelligent
monitoring and communication technologies through the use of wireless sensors. In such an
intelligent vibrant system, sensors are connected to send useful information and control
instructions via distributed sensor networks. Wireless sensors have an easy deployment and
better flexibility of devices contrary to wired setup. With the rapid technological development of
sensors, wireless sensor networks (WSNs) will become the key technology for IoT and an
invaluable resource for realizing the vision of Internet of things (IoT) paradigm. It is also
important to consider whether the sensors of a WSN should be completely integrated into IoT or
not. New security challenges arise when heterogeneous sensors are integrated into the IoT. Security needs to be considered at a global perspective, not just at a local scale. This paper gives an overview of sensor integration into IoT, some major security challenges and also a
number of security primitives that can be taken to protect their data over the internet.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Internet Of
Things
(IoT)
The third wave of the
Internet
2. Introduction
The IoT connects devices such as everyday consumer objects and industrial
equipment to the network enabling information and managing these devices
via software to increase efficiency, enable new services and achieve other
benefits like health, safety and education.
Things, in the IoT, can refer to a wide variety of devices such as heart
monitoring implants, biochip transponders on farm animals, electric clams in
coastal waters, automobiles with built-in sensors, or field operation devices
that assist fire-fighters in search and rescue. These devices collect useful data
with the help of various existing technologies and then autonomously flow the
data between other devices. Current market examples include smart
thermostat systems and washer/dryers that utilize wifi for remote monitoring.
IoT is also expected to generate large amounts of data from diverse locations
that is aggregated at a very high-velocity, thereby increasing the need to better
index, store and process such data.
3. In brief, the Internet of Things (IoT) is a computing concept that describes a future
where everyday physical objects will be connected to the Internet and be able to
identify themselves to other devices. The term is closely identified with RFID as
the method of communication, although it also may include other sensor
technologies, wireless technologies or QR codes.
The IoT is significant because an object that can represent itself digitally becomes
something greater than the object by itself. No longer does the object relate just
to you, but is now connected to surrounding objects and database data. When
many objects act in unison, they are known as having "ambient intelligence.“
4. Latest TrendsWeb Of Things
Building on top of the Internet of Things, the Web Of Things is an architecture for
the application layer of the Internet of Things looking at the convergence of data
from IoT devices into Web applications to create innovative use-cases.
Improving the Industrial Internet
The Industrial Internet sector of the IoT is responsible for its continued expansion
for the past several years. The primary application of the Industrial Internet is
asset management, in which a sophisticated series of real-time and predictive
analytics continuously monitors equipment and provides timely. The real-time
monitoring of these equipment assets utilizes Operational Intelligence that is
pivotal to monitoring of data relevant to hedge funds, e-commerce, and numerous
marketing applications. The number of vendors developing Operational
Intelligence should continue to multiply.
Secure Cloud AnalyticsElastic computing via the Cloud is one of the most useful means of dealing with
issues relating to resource allocation, particularly when one considers the costs
benefits associated with this option.
The Cloud environment for IoT analytics should significantly impact security
measures.
Machine Generated Responses
The true potential of the IoT not only involves connectivity between a growing
number of devices, but the ability to derive action from that connectivity. The
Internet of Things will gain widespread adoption throughout the enterprise when
5. Some of the trends which are expected to make a big impact in the next 5 years are:
1. Cloud Analytics
The combination of cloud computing and IoT can enable ubiquitous sensing services and
powerful processing of sensing data streams beyond the capability of individual “things”,
thus stimulating innovations in both fields. For example, cloud platforms allow the sensing
data to be stored and used intelligently for smart monitoring and actuation with the smart
devices. Novel data fusion algorithms, machine learning methods, and artificial intelligence
techniques can be implemented and run centralized or distributed on the cloud to achieve
automated decision making. These will boost the development of new applications such as
smart cities, grids, and transportation systems.
2. Building and Home automation
From enhancing security to reducing energy and maintenance costs, TI offers a wide range
of innovative IoT technologies for monitor and control of intelligent buildings and smart
homes.
3. Smart Cities
Reduce cost and resource consumption with
TI’s IoT products for lighting, surveillance, centralized
& integrated system control and more.
4. Wearables
With the broadest portfolio in the industry,
TI provides highly efficient ultra-low power
solutions for the wearables market.
6. Interest Areas
My areas of interest in the chosen topic is in the cloud
analytics. I’d like to learn more about it and actively and
dedicatedly work on developing new applications to
build a smarter city to live in.
I’d like to work on an application to monitor the blood
pressure using a wearable around the wrist and monitor
the rate of breathing to aware the wearer about his
breathing habits and also advice him to alter them in
ways which will improve his health.
