Engineering
Introduction
 The use or introduction of automatic equipment
in a manufacturing or other process or facility.
 “Unemployment due to the spread of
automation” is a notion which comes up
whenever the word “automation” comes up.
 But I differ from it giving the reason that man
power can always be used to all the thinking
and all other jobs can be automated.
Automation
As technology advances, it reverses the characteristics of every situation
again and again. The age of automation is going to be the age of 'do it
yourself.'
Marshall McLuhan
 Automation is one of the fields that is
being incorporated in every aspect of our
day to day life.
 Ranging from your bank transactions to
high level drones, automation is now seen
in every domain.
 Automation makes the work easier and
more efficient
Automation
The engineer has been, and is, a maker of history
Trends
 The most important objective as seen from
the view of a customer is that the software
has to be made easier to use,it has to
designed such that it can be used by any
person on this planet.
 Personalization is one of major trends that is
emerging in automation. E.g. Home
automation
 Testing automation is emerging as a big
challenge in this domain.
Automation
The rise of Google, the rise of Facebook, the rise of Apple, I think are proof that
there is a place for computer science as something that solves problems that
people face every day. -Eric Schmidt
Interest Areas
 The main areas that interest me is
development of software to automate
cars
 The field of combinatorial testing has also
interested me a lot and I am currently
working on a paper in this field
 If given an opportunity I would like to work
on test automation.
Automation
I've always felt that the human-centered approach to computer science leads to more
interesting, more exotic, more wild, and more heroic adventures than the machine-
supremacy approach, where information is the highest goal. -Jaron Lanier
Thank you
