• The first thing you need to do is choose a niche to
promote. Why should you concentrate on a niche
audience first, instead of products?
• Here are two major reasons…
Choosing a Niche to Promote
• Products come and go, but niche audiences stick
around forever. Product profitably may decline over
time or the product can be pulled off the market
entirely.
1. Niche Stick Around Forever
• When you choose a niche audience and take the time
to understand their real needs, a whole new world of
opportunity open up to you.
• You switch from struggling to find great products, to
knowing exactly the kind of products you should be
promoting – because they’re in tune with your niche
audience’s needs.
2. Niche = Opportunity
• The strategy that has worked well for me (and lots of
world-class businesses) is to choose a niche audience
to serve, then dive in and understand that audience’s
problems deeply. By doing so, a new world of
opportunities will open up to you!
An Effective Strategy
• Finding a profitable niche isn’t as easy as it sounds.
You can’t just choose a niche - you must choose a
profitable niche. Not every niche is going to be as
profitable as you might hope.
Finding a Profitable Niche Is Not Easy
• I have chosen niches in the past that I truly expected
to be profitable, yet despite my best efforts I was
unable to find a single affiliate product that would
convert well enough to make the effort worth the time
involved.
• Fortunately, I have learned how to lessen my chances
of choosing unproductive niches. Just a few simple
steps can help you eliminate some of the risk of
choosing these unprofitable niches.
Unproductive Niches
• Your first step is to make a list of niches you’re
interested in promoting.
• Just make a long list of niches you think might be
profitable, or that you’re just interested in promoting.
• Don’t worry about anything other than making a list of
10-20 niches right now. If you need help, you can
always look around you for inspiration.
Brainstorming
• Look around your house. Things like kitchen
appliances, outdoor barbecue equipment, office
supplies, audio visual equipment, and musical
instruments are all niches you might spot around your
house.
• Browse a bookstore – either online or offline. Try
Amazon.com or a bookstore in your local neighborhood.
Browse the books or magazines.
• Take a look around news websites for hot topics.
Check sites like Google Buzz for new trends.
Here Are Some Places to Seek Inspiration:
• Once you have a list of 10-20 niche ideas, it’s time to
start narrowing them down by checking out their
potential profitability.
• There are four main ways you could do this…
Checking Potential Profitability
• Check to see if there are any magazines being
published in the niche. This is sometimes, but not
always an indicator that a niche might be profitable.
1. Check Relevant Magazines
• Check to see how many people are advertising on
Google AdWords for the niche. People aren’t likely to
advertise en masse in a niche that isn’t profitable,
especially if the CPC is very high.
2. Check Google AdWords
• Check Clickbank.com and Amazon.com.
• Simply launch a search for the keywords that broadly
describe your potential niche, such as “weight loss” or
“dog training.”
• Are there are lot of products in the niche? Are some
bestsellers among these products popular?
• If so, these are good signs of a profitable niche.
3. Check Clickbank and Amazon
• Follow the marketers’ money trail. Marketers who
spend a lot of money finding their prospects are likely
into a profitable market.
• Therefore, start paying attention to paid advertising.
This includes checking if there are a lot of sponsored
ads whenever you run a Google search. If so, that’s a
great sign of a profitable niche.
4. Follow Marketer’s Money Trail
• Now that you’ve chosen a great niche, your next step
is to start cashing in on this niche by creating your own
products or through the power of affiliate marketing.
• The sooner you do, the sooner you’ll start making
money with Internet Marketing!
