Chapter 1 : Introduction
1.1 Background history
I. Hostels provide budget-oriented, sociable accommodation where guests can rent a bed,
usually a bunk bed, in a dormitory and share a bathroom, lounge and sometimes a kitchen.
Rooms can be mixed or single-sex, and private rooms may also be available.
II. Hostels are often cheaper for both the operator and occupants; many hostels have long-term
residents whom they employ as desk agents or housekeeping staff in exchange for experience
or discounted accommodation.
III. Hostel is more active space (private space) controlled by a rector by rules and regulation.
IV. In 1912, in Altena Castle in Germany, Richard Sherman created the first permanent
Jugendherberge or "Youth Hostel". These first youth hostels were an exponent of the vision of
the German Youth Movement to let poor city youngsters breathe fresh air outdoors.

The main objective of the new system includes

1.4 Classification of hostel building
1. Youth hostel : Richard Sherman’s idea of hostels rapidly spread overseas and eventually
resulted in Hosteling International, an organization composed of more than 90 different
youth hostel associations representing over 4,500 youth hostels in over 80 countries. Some
HI Youth Hostels cater more too school-aged children (sometimes through school trips) and
parents with their children, whereas others are more for travelers intent on learning new
cultures
2. Independent Hostels: the word independent is used to refer to non-HI hostels
3. Boutique Hostels: The phrase "boutique hostel" an often-arbitrary marketing term typically
used to describe intimate, luxurious or quirky hostel environments.
4. Mobile Hostels: Though very uncommon, a mobile hostel is a hostel with no fixed location.
It can exist in the form of a campsite, a temporary building, bus, van, or a short term
agreement in a permanent building

1.5 Special under hostel builiding
Hostel buildings are divided into two groups as follows:
1. Government hostels
2. Private hostels
Government hostels:
I. Spaces under this group of hostels are rectors office,rectors room,entrance lobby,two beded
room,four beded room,study room,tv room, gym space,kitchen and dinning etc.
II. They are limited and run by government college and government department (army).
III. This are inexpensive hostel.
IV. Limited functions are being provided.
Private hostels:
I. Spaces under this group of hostel are rectore office, rector room,entrance lobby,twobeded
room,four beded room ,study room, gym space,kitchen and dinning, first aid room, library
room etc.
II. They are not limited and run by orivate college and private firms offering hostels
III. This are expensive hostel.
IV. More function are being provided as compared to government hostel.

Chapter 2 Interview
2.2Results
Interviews were taken from NMVP College of nursing Hostel,M.G.H. Hostel
trimbak road ,shree Maheshwar Hostel. Total 20 interviews were taken from
different hotels in nasik and the answers are as follows:

I. Rooms are quite good .
II. Spaces are managed for
storage and others stuff.
III. Library ,tv room don’t have
good furniture.
IV. No security for lockers.
Mgh hostel trimbak road
I. Unhygienic rooms
II. No security for lockers
III. No lightings provided in corridors
IV. Colors used in the rooms are
bright and vibrant
V. Not good space management
Shree maheshwar hostel
I. Good study rooms tv rooms , library
etc
II. Rooms are provided with minimum
furniture
III. Less no of lightings
IV. Colors used are warm
V. No updated security for lockers
Chapter 3 Case studies
3.1 Web case study: Emanuel Hostel by Lana Vista
Location: Tolstoy Street,Pavlodar ,Kazakhstan.
Interior designer : lana vista
Year of complesion :1960-1970
I. The design was created as a product of fusion, conjuction of
the hostel's . identity of the Mediterranean climate and the
tendency of creating a design hostel.
II. The style is eclectic, as evidenced by the contrast of clear,
modern lines of bed forms with chairs and accessories from the
50s and 60s of the last century.
III. In addition to being a place to relax, refresh and sleep, the
hostel can serve as a space for socialising - a kind of a living
room with internet service and free breakfast so it does not
have exclusively a transitional character of typical of hostels,
but a warm, pleasant and airy space that is not only a "dorm"
Bunk beds :
a piece of furniture consisting of two beds, one above the
other, that form a unit.
Bunk bed booths provide sleeping sanctuaries at this hostel
in Split, Croatia, by local designer Lana Vitas Gruić
Advantages Of A Buying A Bunk Bed
1. Separate Beds

3. Manage Each Kid Individually
4. Option of Detaching - When the kids grow up and the need
comes, you can consider separating or detaching the bunk
beds into two beds.
Disadvantages Of Buying A Bunk Bed
1. Safety Concerns
2. Close to the Ceiling - The child on top might reach up
to the ceiling, ceiling fan, light, etc. which can be a
safety concern.
3. Getting Down the Ladder – When the kid’s body is
sleepy and tired, getting down the ladder in the middle
of the night can be challenging.
Use of color
In the largest room, colourful units with
simple white rails and ladders each house
two beds, while the blue block in the centre
of the largest room is double-sided to
accommodate four.
Use the psychological effects of color of
white to create a refreshing and clean look
in your home. People associate different
things in white. White is used to create an
airy appearance, quiet and pure
Two more units are situated in a smaller all-white
room, with an extra bed raised high above the
ground that appears to balance on lockers.
Desks and shelves accompanied by a
mixture of chair styles offer space for guests
to eat or use laptops within the dorms.

White color
I. People associate different things in white
II. White is used to create an airy appearance, quiet and
pure.
III. If in a room is used on walls, furniture or floor, white may
give the impression that it is much higher than it is and
can give an invigorating freshness.
IV. If you don’t want to have very colorful room but no
excess white, you can use white in combination with
other neutral colors.
V. Black, brown or gray with white fit very well.
VI. To take advantage of psychological effects of the white
color, you should not use it much, just to emphasize
certain things, such as windows and doors frames from.
Green color
I. Use the psychological effects of green color to create a
calm and relaxing atmosphere in your home.
II. The psychological effects of color green color are similar
to those of blue, green is perceived as calm and clear.
III. Green is very soothing to the eye and nature gives us a
lot of nuances.
IV. The best way to use green in the interior design is to
combine several colors, or green combined with other
colors.
I. With the blue color you can create a cool and
clear look.
II. In the interior design, you can use blue to create
an atmosphere of work and meditation.
III. The color blue has been shown to lower blood
pressure and heart rate.
IV. It is used to design the interior space to enlarge
the room by a very light shade of blue.
V. You can use blue to cool a room with much sun
and heat.
VI. If used in kitchen, paint, furniture or dishes, blue
color is said to decrease appetite and you can
lose weight.
