Sigmund Freud
Freud believed that our unconscious minds influence the way in which we behave. He thought
that our early experiences caused our later adult behaviour. We are influenced by this in our
provision by being good role models for children. We also make sure that they are always safe, and
do not experience any negativity that may harm or influence their development. For example, we

This is essential to see the childcare setting as it is day in and day out. There are no false
settings and the business is inspected as it would be on any other day. I believe this is very
important, as the CSIW can see whether their seven aims are being met, and how well the children
are being looked after.
Foundation Phase
This is the statutory curriculum for all 3 7 year olds in Wales. This curriculum is for both
maintained and non maintained settings. Children are given opportunities to explore the world

Objectives Of Girl Scout
The Girl Scouts organization accepts all young women. The organization is not deigned to isolate

Inner
The Girl Scout organization lets the girls form their beliefs and own perception of the world.
They encourage the young women to accept everyone and help anyone, but safety is their primary
goal. According to Young Mason (2012), The aim of the Girl Scouts was and is that girls will
develop to their full potential by pursuing 4 goals: developing their full potential, relating to others
with increasing understanding, skill, and respect, developing a meaningful set of values to guide
their actions and to provide for sound decision making, and contributing to the improvement of
society (pg. 228). The organization knows the limitations that society may set on young women.
However, their goal is to break the stigma that

Research Paper On Europa s Gravity
remember asking my team members why we did not need to calculate as much for the return trip
thinking about the moon Europa s gravity?
Of course, it is a factor but the gravity of earth compared to Europa is very different (Europa s
gravity is very like our moon, which is 5/6 less than earth s gravity). A team member responded.
The escape velocity (4) (the velocity required for an object to leave the gravitational field) to leave
earth was one that my space craft needed to beat in order for my mission to be a success. (the
escape velocity for earth is 11.2 km/s) The escape velocity takes in account the gravitational force,
the mass of the object, and the radius (the distance of from the center of the earth) (the escape

Back on earth I loved to spend time in the gym to work out. This not only made my muscles
healthy but it was a good distraction from the realities of my classes in college, my jobs after
college, and other things. Working out also gave me a healthy mindset, which is perfect for
travelling in space. Looking out the window into space was truly mesmerizing. Seeing the infinite
darkness with specs of light from the stars gave me a whole new perspective. My first mission in
space was a six month stay on the International Space Station. From the ISS I could see an
amazing sunrise, but this new mission made me feel so disconnected from my home. Travelling
where no man has ever gone gave me new inspiration and courage.
As my destination approached I began to refresh my studies on Europa. Europa is a moon (11)
(a celestial body that orbits around a planet) (Jupiter has 63 moons) (moons can also be
described as a natural satellite) of the Galilean family orbiting Jupiter. Europa is similar in the
size of the earth s moon but slightly smaller (Europa s mass 4.8 * 10^22 kg compared to the
moon 7.3*10^22 kg). The surface is fairly new due to the lack of crater impacts. The surface has
many crevices and cracks making it look like glaciers compressing and stretching. This is what
brought scientists so curious. The stretching due to

Essay on Religion and the Development of the Western World
Religion and the Development of the Western World
The accomplishments and success of civilizations are closely linked to their religious outlook and
the role of religion in their governments and society. Throughout history rulers have used the
influence of religions to control their populations and provide the justification for their power. A
society with a greater degree of separation between religion and government promotes a superior
level of liberty and creativity amongst its people. By the time of the decline of the Roman Empire
in the west, however, the world had come full circle to a return to theocratic dictatorship. In the
ancient civilization of the Sumerians religion was an important part of both the lives of the ... Show

The focus of Greek thought was on the community of man within the polis. They developed their
laws and philosophies in accordance with what seemed to them appropriate social interaction, not
the decrees of a god, a priest, or a king. Ethics and morality became the questions of high minded
citizens who created schools and systematic empirical methods for seeking the answers to
questions of right and wrong, politics, and the nature of man. The gods of the Greek religion, while
super human in strength and immortal, were humanly fallible. They were seen as the patrons of
certain city states and their worship was out of a sense of civic duty and the hope that the gods
would lend their assistance both to the community and the individual. Many of the teachings were
common sense virtues such as self awareness and moderation as in the Cult of Delphian Apollo.
This naturalistic focus allowed them to seek their answers through the scientific method of
philosophy. They developed the beginnings of atomic theory and wrote fairly objective histories
that sought to explain the causes and learn from the events of the past. The gifts of education were
more available to the common citizen than in any previous time in history and the political system
allowed each man a say in the government of his community. These were limited, but their very
presence signifies a major shift away from the authoritarianism of

Advantage and Disadvantage of Conditional Fee Agreements
COMMON LAW REASONING AND INSTITUTION RESEARCH ESSAY: STUDENT:
Abdulla Shafeeg Ali STUDENT NUMBER: 070391545 CANDIDATE NUMBER: 32188 3.
Analyse the advantages and disadvantages of conditional fee arrangements for legal aid. A
conditional fee arrangement is basically a form of risk sharing whereby if the lawyer loses the
case, the client does not have to pay. However, if the case is won, the lawyer can be recompensed
through a success fee, which is worked out as a percentage of his cost. In the US, many cases have
been funded this way but in English legal system conditional fee arrangement had been banned
until the enactment of the Courts and Legal Service Act 1990. Under the Access to Justice Act
1999 conditional fees form an important... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another area which could be hit is that of cases which have enormous public importance, but
which need large amounts of work, are difficult to win, and may attract relatively low levels of
damages even if successful. These include some types of action against the police and
Government, such as complaints by prisoners about their treatment. The Act does address these
issues in that it provides for cases in excluded categories to be funded in exceptional
circumstances; it remains to be seen whether this will be sufficiently flexible in practice.
Another disadvantage is unfair trials. Where legal aid is refused, a trial may prove to be unfair
of one party is represented but the other is not. This is potentially a breach of Article 6 of the
European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR), which guarantees the right to fair trial. In
Steel v UK (2005) (or common known as the McLibel Two), Ds were environmental
campaigners who were charged with defamation for disturbing leaflet criticizing nutritional
content of McDonald s fast food. Ds were refused legal aid because it is not generally available
for defamation cases. They were unrepresented (save for limited assistance from sympathetic
lawyers) whereas McDonald s was represented by a team of lawyers. Ds were found liable. They
challenged the fairness of UK proceedings in the European Court of Human Rights. The challenge
was successful. The European Court held that the Ds had not had a fair

Genocide In Rwanda
Genocide is defined as the deliberate killing of a large group of people, especially those of a
particular ethnic group or nation. In other words mass murder.
But it s more than that, it also means committing any of the following acts with intent to destroy, in
whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group. Killing or Causing serious bodily or
mental harm to members of the group, Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of living and
bringing it to its physical destruction in whole or in part, Imposing measures intended to prevent
births within the group, and transferring children of the group to another group by force. To

This occurs when members of a group are consider to be animals, vermin, insects or diseases. At this
stage, hate propaganda in print and on hate radios is used to illustratively and verbally abuse the
victim group. While fighting against this dehumanization, incitement to genocide should not be
confused with protected speech. Genocidal societies lack constitutional protection for
countervailing speech, and should be treated differently than democracies. Local and international
leaders should condemn the use of hate speech and make it culturally unacceptable. Leaders who
incite genocide should be banned from international travel and have their foreign finances frozen.
Hate radio stations should be shut down, and hate propaganda banned. Hate crimes and atrocities

Video Games Call Of Duty
One of the biggest controversial cases among parents and children is, whether to allow them to
play violent video games. Many people often assume that these intense games have a direct
correlation to becoming a violent person. While many people agree with this, the research is not
100% accurate. This makes it very hard to find proof that a violent video gameis one of the leading
causes of a violent person. We are often blaming these games for a more internal complex problem.
One of the leading video games Call Of Duty focuses on killing people in order to win the game.
This game has over 40 million users and is the most successful franchise in all of history. In my
opinion what is the fun of theoretically killing virtual people? I do not think kids should be
subjective to watching this violence at a young age. These games should be geared for adults more
than children. When the child is held at the age of accountability they can then decide what games
are good for them.
When a shooting happens many people are looking for reasons as to why it happened, many times
they automatically assumed that person played violent video games. Conservatives start to raise
their opinion when things in American go awry. Republican Donald Trump tweeted on Twitter:
Video game violence glorification must be stopped it s creating monsters! In hopes to end the video
games that correlate to violence the government plans to take action. The state Rep. of Missouri,
Diane Franklin, has brought

The African Of African Descent
The people that are one of the most oppressed and restricted throughout recent history, if not the
most, are considered to be the those of African descent. There was, and arguably, still is
institutionalized racism against people of African descent in the Americas, with a prime example
being the peculiar institution of slavery. This institution was so peculiar that, in many countries,
the long, entire process of capturing, enslaving, and forcing of people to work, primarily those that
were of African descent, became so profitable and efficient that slavery became the backbone of an
entire country in terms of labor, such as the United States. Naturally, of course, there was always a
constant resistance to this oppression, no matter where the enslaved people were, or under which
circumstances they were subject to. The Africans that were brought to the Americas as captives by
Europeans would resist against their captors in different ways, and so would their descendants, until
they were liberated. Understanding what slavery was commonly like is important, as it allows one
to gain information on the outstanding cruelties of slavery, as well as give reason to the sometimes
extreme resistances put up by the Africans and African Americans. It is important to note that
enslaved persons were fifty percent more likely to die in their first fourteen years of life when
compared to their white, free, counterparts, largely due to an innutritious diet that more often than
not consisted of

Cheesecake Factory Healthcare Analysis
There are major differences between the US health care system and the Cheesecake Factory that
should be kept in mind. Contrary to the Cheesecake Factory, health care facilities are focused
more on the accessibility of the system for staff use and not patient use. Healthcare is something
everyone will encounter at some point in their life. The cheesecake factory does not have this
problem; the restaurant makes a profit solely because people decide to eat there. Healthcare is a
permanent business. If you have a chronic disease, broken bones or are simply sick you don t
contemplate whether or not you seek medical treatment, it is mandatory. The difference between
Cheesecake factory and Health Care facilities is patient eduacation. The most important thing,
within the hospital setting, is patient education... says Dr. Tracy Lawrence (Gruessner 2015). At
the Cheesecake Factory you can pick where you want to sit, what you want to order, whether or
not you want dessert, and how much you want to spend. At a hospital this is completely decided
by your physician. Imagine that the cheesecake factory is the only place you could eat a meal at.

He explains that the corporate bosses at Cheesecake Factory s headquarters claim to have more
knowledge about what new items to add to the menu than the kitchen managers. This is the reverse
in healthcare. Software developers generally know more about software than management. In
healthcare, managers telling workers what to do often leads to poor results, because the instructions
are often wrong. Experienced doctors and nurses usually know more about a patient s health than
administrators. As a result, administrators telling health staff what to do has had a negative track

Army Intelligence And Security Command Essay
For Army counterintelligence to be adequately effective against its adversaries, US Army
Intelligence and Security Command should release control of Army counterintelligence elements.
Once released, all counterintelligence agents should be reconstituted into a new Counterintelligence
Corps. Looking to the past and the Counterintelligence Corps during World War II and the Korean
War, the Army could recreate the most functional form of Counterintelligence it has ever had.
Currently agents are assigned to units randomly and often work in capacities other than
counterintelligence. Placing all agents in one unified command would help focus the efforts of
Army counterintelligence and better protect the Army.
Army counterintelligence (CI) serves a tremendously important function within the United States
Army and the overall US Intelligence community. However, the utilization of Army CI is very
flawed. Agents are recruited from the best the US Army has to offer via a formal application and
recruitment process. After acceptance into the program, prospective agents are sent to the CI
Special Agents Course (CISAC) at Fort Huachuca, Arizona for approximately 19 weeks. During
CISAC, future agents are trained on CI investigations, source operations, discreet surveillance, as
well as evidence collection. After CISAC students graduate as badged and credentialed CI special
agents. Agents leave CISAC completely motivated to thwart our nation s adversaries, however they

The Effects Of Water Pollution
Pollution is a term applied to any environmental state or manifestation which is harmful or
unpleasant to life, resulting from failure to achieve or maintain control over the chemical, physical
or biological consequences or side effects of human scientific, industrial and social habits (Feugo,
2008; Anderson et al., 2005). From another perspective, water pollutionrefers to any physical,
biological or chemical change in water quality that adversely affects living organisms and makes
water unsuitable for desired uses as a result of anthropogenic activities (Cunningham and Saigo,
2003; Anderson et al., 2005). Many human activities from water supply and sanitation to transport,

study, dye doped, surface functionalized silica nanoparticles (SiNP) and surface functionalized

The aim of this study was to synthesize and characterize surface functionalized dye doped SiNPs

Suspense In The Liars
The text We Were Liars written by E. Lockhart follows the summers of a group of teenagers,
collectively called The Liars. The narrator of the story, Cadence Sinclair, suffers from an accident
on their island, and loses most of her memory. Throughout the chapters, she pieces together the
timeline and finds out what truly happened the summer of her accident. The story focuses around
the theme of choices and power, and the author pushes the idea that all actions have consequences.
An interesting and important episode in the book was when Cadence discovers that her accident
involved her killing her friends. The Liars decided to set fire to one of the family houses on the
island, attempting to get rid of the family feud over who had power over it. As Cadence was on the
ground floor, the fire grew upwards, and her 3 friends died as the house burnt, and she was the only
one able to escape. To me, this is one of the most interesting scenes in the book, as even after the
accident, Cadence was having conversations and physical contact with them, though in the end, you
find out that they were merely hallucinations brought on from her head injury, or even ghosts. I
liked how the author did this, as she showed only minor hints throughout the book that they weren t
alive, and it left you guessing until the end of the book. The way the author creates a feeling of
suspense throughout the novel because of this left me wanting to keep reading. Cadence
remembers the fire at first, but not her

Rational Solutions To The Cold War
Rational Solutions for Emotional Problems
As Carl von Clausewitz famously stated, War is merely a continuation of politics by other
means. He could not have been more accurate in the case of the Cold War, which came more
than a century after his death. The Cold War, being a war of competing ideologies as well as
competing nations and militaries, was focused more on political conflicts than military ones, thus
giving it the moniker of being a cold war. Yet while the United States of America, the leader of the
liberal democratic side, did realize the importance of politics in the war, it was not so adept in
understanding the political climate of the areas in which the Cold War was hottest. It is undoubtedly
true that the American policymakers of the war understood its battles better than the ordinary
Korean or Vietnamese when it came to facts and figures; at the same time, when it came to
understanding the emotions the battles brought to its various participants, the policymakers were
often seemingly clueless. The United States, all throughout the Cold War, showed an inability to
understand the emotional climate of its chosen battlegrounds and the emotional impact its choices
had on them, and constantly offered rational solutions to issues with emotional roots. This mistake
impacted the American involvement in the Cold War, and should serve as a lesson from which the
US evaluates its current actions. After all, as the leader of the free world, the United States still

One story that stuck out to me was the tale of Vivek Randive and his daughter s junior high
basketball team. Randive understood that the team s greatest weakness was lack of experience.
In understanding this weakness, Randive decided to introduce a full court press into their
preparation. He did this because he figured you didn t need to have experience in basketball to
play tough, suffocating defense. In most cases, teams would only use the full court press in the
last moments of the game. Randive unconventionally used this press throughout the entire
duration of the game instead of just the last moments like most previous teams did. The teams
who played them were puzzled as to why they were overmatched by such a team with lack of
talent and skill. The main reason Randive s team was effective in their strategy was because what
they implemented a temp late that most teams and coaches were not prepared for. They used their
weakness in lack of talent and experience and made up for it with determination, heart, and
unrelenting pressure to win. Part Two: The Theory of Desirable Difficulty The next section of
Gladwell s book looks at how overcoming the tests precipitated by adverse circumstances can have
a positive impact on ultimate success. He starts this section by explain the effects of

A Brief Note On Design An Electric Vehicle
Introduction
Detail of Project
Introduction
The project is to design an electric vehicle that has to be road worthy and comfortable to drive
off road as well. We are doing These because it is the future of Automobile industry. These is
fully ecofriendly and these is one of the best solution to decrease the carbon emission in our
environment. EV which we are design is Fully built from Scratch, which is look like a Wheelie
jeep. Because its roadworthy so we have design this car under the concern of the New Zealand
Transport rules and regulation. The car is two doors with two Seating capacity. we have to make
it lighter and off road drive so we choose the poly carbonate shell material. The car is fully
electrically automated with electric power steering and some other feature. It also has an
Electrical winch which is detachable at front or back. It is a four wheel drive and with high
torque and doesn t produce any excessive sound. The car has a AC motor as drivetrain and the
energy source for drive is a lithium Batteries which is highly efficient as compared to other
battery. We design good breaking system because electric motor has a very high acceleration as
compared to CI cars. EVS running cost is much lower and very less maintenance. It has a range
of 80 km per charge and it can be charge in your garage 240 V plug socket. The money spent on the
EVs has reasonable and payback to us.
Reason for amendment
We are working to design a new electric carso we have to

Alcoholism And Broken Families In Reservation Blues By...
Throughout the novel Reservation Blues, by Sherman Alexie, there is a recurring theme of
alcoholism and broken families. Each character acts out in their own way in response to what they
have been through. While reading the novel I was absorbed with how Checkers and Thomas
responded with their anger. Thomas acts with peace, whereas Checkers turns to violence and
bitterness. Even though they act out differently, they react alike as they grieve alone, reach out for
attention and acceptance, and reject alcohol. As Checkers alcoholic father abandoned her and
Chess, she uses rebellion and anger to cope with the bitterness she has toward her father. She also
morphs her internal despair and vulnerability into anger as a protective mechanism. This can been
seen in Checker s tough response to Victor. Checkers rose in anger and slapped Victor... Show more

old enough to be her father (104). Checkers dated these men essentially because they were able

ANSWER 2: Boeing ran into problems with its global supply chain when suppliers failed to
deliver parts on schedule. Many students will probably suggest that if Boeing wants to string
together a supply chain consisting of unrelated companies located in various parts of the world, it
need to make management of that supply chain a top priority. Boeing was contending with various
types of problems including poor quality components, incorrect installation of parts, secondary
outsourcing, and so on. Students will probably suggest that if Boeing had been on top of these
types of issues earlier in the process, it might have been in a better position to take steps to mitigate
their effect on the entire supply chain.

The Juvenile Justice System Is The Primary System Used
The Juvenile Justice System is the primary system used to handle youth who are convicted of
criminal offenses. It is just over 100 years old. Over time it has gone through several changes and
its unlikely to disappear anytime soon. We as Americans are still trying to find different ways to
approach juvenile justice vs. approaching it as adult justice. Throughout most of history, young
adults and or children did not have a separate status between juvenile and adults. Once you
reached the ages of 5 or 6, you became apart of the adult society. There was no separate system for
dealing with youth offenders. In the early 1800s, problems with how to deal with youth offenders
began to come about due to society going through economical... Show more content on

All juveniles under the age of 16 could be handled by the court. Between 1960s and the 1980s,
attention and speculation began to rise about the concern of the juvenile delinquency and court
system. During this time, this era was characterized by distinctly harsh punishments for youths.
They were also wanting to focus on providing minors with due process and legal counsel in court.
Even though they were trying to provide help to youth offenders, criticism during this time, focused
on racial discrimination, gender disparities and discrimination towards children with mental health
problems or learning disabilities. Through out the years, crime rates rose and the misrepresentation
from the media began around the 1960s and went through the 1980s. Today in America, no
population poses a larger threat to public safety than juvenile offenders. Juvenile justice system deal
with three types of case; Delinquents, status offenders, neglected, abused or dependent youth. Over
the years, many states have established family courts to deal with offenders and cases with the
status of neglect. Throughout the years, there has always been some type of tension between police
and young offenders. In my personal opinion, I think this comes from the music that the youth
listens to. Most state statues provide some guidance for arrest procedures. As an officer, you have
the discretion in deciding when to arrest juvenile offenders.

What Is A Good Character Essay
What is character? Character is something that is hard to explain. It is who we are, the way we
act, and the kind of person we truly are and want to be. Character is what you are in the dark. But
if character is the kind of person you are when no one is looking, then why does it matter?
Character matters because even when we think no one is looking, they are. People are always
watching us and the way we behave and many will look to us in admiration and inspiration, so it
is our job to constantly be a role model of good character. A couple of ways that we can show our
character are through gratitude and respect, but we can also look up to others, such as Benjamin
Franklin, as role models for good character. Showing gratitude towards others is a great way to
express good character. Being thankful and showing appreciation for those in our lives helps us
strengthen our character and show others the good in ourselves. Being grateful is also a way of
being humble and allowing others to see that we don t think we are better than them. Gratitude
can sometimes be hard to find, but there are many ways to show how grateful we are. Thank you

The Six Barriers To Effective Communication
The six major barriers to effective communication are as listed below
(i) Cliche
(ii) Jargon
(iii) Slang
(iv) Sexist and Racist language
(v) Euphemisms
(vi) Doublespeak
A cliche is a phrase or a word which was previously considered clever, but due to the passage of
time and overuse has lost its original meaning (McLean, 2010). An example is, the writing is on
the wall and some fools may fail to read and understand while the signal is made . The sentence
seems straightforward, but some receivers of information may start gazing at the wall reading
whatever they find there thereby failing to get the intended meaning. I gave a short speech to
my staff a few years ago where I said the following, I need all of you be as fast as a rabbit and
bring in many customers to our business . I was shocked when one member of staff stood up and
walked out of the meeting hurriedly. I sent one of the staff to inquire whether there was something
wrong only to be told that he was rushing to get the customers to come to the meeting.
The second barrier to communication is the use of jargon. These are the words or terminologies
which are common within a specific profession but quite unfamiliar to the clients who use the
products. In a marketing set up, the marketer may do well to avoid such jargon while
concentrating on what is common in the realms of the customer so that emphasis is laid on the
benefits and usefulness of the goods or services. An example is the use of the word, one

Ch. 4 Practice Problems 11, 14, 18
11. List the five steps of hypothesis testing, and explain the procedure and logic of each.
The first step in testing hypotheses is to take the question at hand and turn it into a pair of theories
that can be tested; the question is stated as a research hypothesis, and as a null hypothesis about the
populations to be studied. The purpose behind this is to establish something to test the research
hypothesis against, and essentially proving that the opposite of something is false is the same as
proving that the thing is right. A prediction is made and then the polar opposite of the prediction is
studied to ascertain its validity. If the null is proved wrong then the research hypothesis testing ...

A researcher predicts that listening to music while solving math problems will make a particular
area of the brain more active. To test this, a research participant has her brain scanned while
listening to music and solving math problems, and the brain area of interest has a percentage signal
change of 58. From many previous studies with the same math problems procedure (but not
listening to music), it is known that the signal change in this brain area is normally distributed with
a mean of 35 and a standard deviation of 10. (a) Using the .01 level, what should the researchers
conclude? Solve this problem explicitly using all five steps of hypothesis testing, and illustrate your
answers with a sketch showing the comparison distribution, the cutoff (or cutoffs), and the score of
the sample on this distribution. (b) Then explain your answer to someone who has never had a
course in statistics (but who is familiar with mean, standard deviation, and Z scores). The
hypothesis testing process begins by forming a question about the topic at hand. In this case, Does
listening to music while doing math stimulate a certain region of the brain that is not affected when
doing math without music? This question is then turned into a pair of

The Deadly Politics Of Industrial Pollution
Nowadays it is common to hear on the news about recent health and environmental scares
especially with the increasing research done about the causes and effects of global warming.
However, life just a century ago was very different. During the early twentieth century, people
trusted industries. Therefore, they did not fight for government regulation of industries or the need
for it to inform them about possible harmful practices done by industries. It took the deaths and
emergence of illnesses of many workers and citizens for the public to start worrying. Gerald
Markowitz and David Rosner discussed this time period with a focus on the lead and chemical
industries in their book Deceit and Denial: the Deadly Politics of Industrial Pollution.... Show more

To please the public the industry also said they would conduct research about the effects of lead,
but the research was funded by the lead industry so they skewed the presentation of the results to
the public. Soon there were also cases reported of lead poisoning in children from their habit of
biting lead painted toys. This time the lead industry tried to distract the public by increasing their
advertisements highlighting the benefits of lead using the mascot of the Dutch Boy Painter and
slogans, such as ethyl is to gasoline what vitamins are to food. However, by the 1970 s with the
introduction of safer elements and the decrease in public support, the lead industry lost its
importance in the world.
The second section of the book focused on the chemical industry, specifically vinyl chloride,
where it was explained there was little known about the effects of chemicals. Because of this, there
was the question of whether a product was to be considered safe until proven dangerous or vice
versa where a product was considered dangerous until proven safe. This time the public showed
greater opposition to the use of vinyl chloride, as environmentalists and labor unions united to
reveal the harmful effects of it. Similar to the lead industry, the chemical industry also fought back
reasoning to the government that only high levels of chemical exposure was harmful to people and

Similarities Between Romeo And Juliet Capulet

Massage In Diabetic Patients
In massage therapy today, massage is considered a way to improve poor circulation in the lower
limbs of diabetic patients (Rattray 1015). However, persistent inflammation also contributes to
diabetic feet (Armstrong). A modality that can address both inflammation and poor circulation
would be ideal.
Cold hydrotherapy could be that modality. Brief cold exposure leads to vasodilation and thus
increased blood flow (Daanan). Plus, that vasodilation follows a period of vasoconstriction
(Daanan), which reduces the inflammatory response (Rattray 71). That means that the increased
blood flow caused by the cold induced vasodilation (CIVD) has fewer inflammatory factors in it
(Dulian). In that case, cold foot baths could simultaneously prevent the degeneration ... Show more

CIVD and blood flow. According to Daanen s literature review, [c]old induced vasodilation

Essay on Boethius and Plato s God
Plato was born in Athens, Greece around 427 B.C. He was always interested in politics, until he
witnessed his mentor and teacher, Socrates, death. After learning of the callousness of politics,
Plato changed his mind and eventually opened up The Academy, which is considered if not the
first, one of the first Universities. Students at the Academy studied many different fields of science,
including biological and astronomical. The students also studied many other fields, such as math.
Platodeveloped many views that were mathematical in nature. He expressed these views through his
writings. According to Dr. Calkins of Andrew University, Timaeus

Boethius was involved in a consulship for most of his life, and is probably most admired for the
translations he completed in his lifetime, which include, Porphyry s Introduction to the Categories
of Aristotle and probably Aristotle s Metaphysics, Physics, De Generatione et Corruptione, De
Anima, and Poetics (Watts 16). Boethius was imprisoned and then executed in 524 AD, while
imprisoned and before his execution he wrote his best known work, The Consolation of Philosophy.
In relation to Plato s Demiurge, Boethius, being a Christian worships God. Watts, in summarizing in
part the The Consolation of Philosophy, says, Philosophy descends to Boethius form on high (I, 3)
and leads him back through various paths to God Himself... and the realization that God is the
supreme good... (Watts 25).
In order to compare or contrast the two entities, the characteristics must be explained. In a 2005
Bryn Mawr Classical Review of T.K. Johansen s Plato s Natural Philosophy: A Study of the
Timaeus Critias, they explicate the Demiurges existence by saying, . ..the existence of the
demiurge as an inference to the best explanation of the order and beauty of the cosmos. (Bryn
Mawr 1).The Demiurge is also classified as an external cause of order. This is connected with the
orders of being and becoming expressed in Plato s Timaeus.

Ferrucci tells the reader, the issue or need for warmth is because the human situation or everyday
life can be hard to live and lonely. Ferrucci constructs a persuasive view which is made from

the quality of being intimate and attached. Ferrucci interprets warmth as being happy, having
knowledge of the inner world, and having the capacity to perceive into the deeper thoughts and
motivations of people. Ferrucci keeps the reader engaged throughout the story with his persuasive
viewpoints. One thing he mentions is What a relief to know that someone loves you and has

choice, imagery, and symbols used. Word choice helped create the imagery found in UP. Word
choice was a huge part in how the audience perceived characters and was able to build an image of

the characters and the relationships between them. Not only do children enjoy the fun, colorful
movie, but the writers also incorporated many symbols throughout the whole movie for the adult

My Personal Philosophy of Nursing Essay

Our course, Transition to Professional Nursing, is barely two weeks old and already I am being
enlightened and challenged to expand my experience of nursing. I will attempt to explain my
personal journey and experience thus far including how and why I got here, my beliefs about
nursing and related values, and my visions for the future.
The Nursing Choice Nursing came in a round about way for me. I had little direction when I

Care enough to listen, to do a thorough job at all you do whether it be assessing, documenting or

invasive and potentially embarrassing procedures with as much empathy and compassion as
possible. Care enough to connect to and treat your patient and their families and visitors with
respect and dignity. Do everything in your power to provide the most suitable environment and
emotional tone for the patient, and care enough to strive for the best possible outcome for the
patient, both in the hospital and beyond, advocating for the patient when necessary. Even by
definition the word care can be applied to different aspects of nursing. According to The Oxford

1. The provision of what is necessary for the health, welfare, maintenance, and protection of
someone or something.
2.Serious attention or consideration applied to doing something correctly or to avoid damage or risk.
3.Feel concern or interest; attach importance to something. Upon reading about the different
nursing philosophies and the ANA Code of Ethics, I found that this core value, my perceived
essence of nursing, is supported by both historical and ethical factors. Jean Watson s entire

Social Networking Effects On The Socialization Of People
What if Facebook was used to its fullest potential? In twelve years the social networking
site has surely grown quite a bit from the site intended to allow Harvard students to connect with
one another. Today, Facebook is a site filled with advertisements and cheaply made free to play
games. Cat pictures and cheery posts that say, Like/share if you love Jesus! riddle the
landscape of a service that is supposed to be actually connecting people. Things like this have led
people to lose hope in online social networking. To some it seems like it has become a detriment
to society. However, the results of what happens when it is used properly should not be
overlooked. Online social networking in general promotes actual relationships and benefits our
society by providing a medium perfect for connecting with people in a variety of ways. As with
everything, there are those who think differently, believing that social
networking has adverse effects on the socialization of people. It s still surprising to me,

American Government (Politics 113)
20 Nov 2014
The Legacy of John Marshall Few individuals have left as prominent a mark on the United States as
Chief Justice John Marshall. An ardent Federalist, he worked throughout most of his life to separate
the powers of national and state government, furthering the agenda of his party long after they
dissolved.
In Marbury v. Madison, he led the Court in striking down an act of Congress that was in conflict
with the Constitution, legitimizing the doctrine of judicial review. Over the course of his thirty
four year term, Marshall oversaw numerous landmark cases, his decisions in which played an
undeniably critical role in the early development of American law. Thanks to his firm hand and
consistent principles, he was able to secure the institutional power of the Supreme Court in the face
of staunch Jeffersonian opposition affirming its place as an equal among the Executive and
Legislative branches of government. The Supreme Court was established in 1789, with its powers
stated in Article III of the newly ratified United States Constitution. In the years leading up to the
Marshall era, the Court was little more than a shadow of its future self. It lacked both the prestige
and authority of the latter 19th century. John Jay and his successors, Rutledge and Ellsworth
oversaw few cases, and ever fewer significant ones. Often cited as an example of the early Court s
inefficiency, their most

Comparison Of Les Miserables And The Kite Runner
Throughout history, people have held people to standards and judged people. In Les Miserables
and the Kite Runner both societies had ideas on what was civilized and what was barbaric. This
can be seen when characters had to change who they were in order to fit into what was civilized
and not be different. In Les Miserables a demonstration of this is shown when Jean Valjeanhad to
pretend to be something he s not in order to fit in with the society. Jean Valjean was labeled as a
convict just because he stole some bread to help save his family from starvation. He then had to
change his name and become a whole new person just because society viewed him as a bad
person because he is a convict. What had been the life of this soul . Looking back on his life he
wonders what had become of it and why society felt that he is barbaric. Even though he was a
good person society treated him like he was an awful person just because he had been a convict.
They did not know the full story of how he was trying to save his family, they just automatically
judged him.
Fortunately, in the end Jean Valjean turned his life around and became a better person. The
Bishop helped him turn his life around by giving him a chance to be a better person. Jean

Holistic Rubrics
A tool to evaluate a third year nursing student for the management of a postoperative patient using

Educators are faced with many challenges in accurately assessing and evaluating students, and
although these two codes are closely related, their effective completion requires different actions.
Assessment is a systematic process of collecting and interpreting information about students
achievements, while evaluation refers to a value judgement that attaches meaning to the data
obtained through assessment (Mc Donald, 2007). Educators are called upon to assess and evaluate
students who they instruct based on the students learning outcomes and course objectives.

This point is often expressed in terms of students understanding the learning target and criteria for
success. For this reason, rubrics underpin the coordination of instruction and assessment, and they

There are two types of rubrics available for use in examinations, a holistic rubric and an analytic
rubric. Holistic rubrics can be defined as single criteria rubrics (one dimensional) used to assess
participants overall achievement on an activity or item based on predefined achievement levels.
Holistic rubrics may use a percentage or text only scoring method and to assess student s work as a
whole. (Brightspace, 2016)
Analytic rubric focuses on individual elements of the ideal response and scores each element
separately (McDonald, 2007). Analytic rubrics identify and assess components of a finished
product. This rubric breaks down the characteristics of an assignment into parts, allowing the scorer
to itemize and define exactly what aspects are strong, and which ones need

In April 1999, I was in Washington on business and a friend invited me for a sail on his Melges

Every morning, Don wakes up shortly after midnight to prepare for an eight hour workshift.
Shortly after, he leaves his house and makes his way to the local post office, where he works as
a mail carrier. By nine o clock he has clocked out and is on his way to work another full work day
as a self employed arborist of sorts. From then until dusk, he hustles around central Indiana
completing his daily list of jobs and tasks. At the end of the day, he finally returns home where
he spends an hour or so with his wife and children before calling going to bed to rest before
another cycle of work. But what does it matter that some guy in some corn growing city delivers
mail and cuts down trees? Well, Don has utilized his work and the attitude he approaches his work
with as a means of expressing his moral and spiritual principles as well as a tool for influencing
members of his familyand community.

Although, his motive can often be misinterpreted as he speaks with insensitivity. wears an intense
expression on his face and , frequently, oversteps social boundaries, his approach to social
interaction enables him to express his concern for others. Don s blunt responses, for example,
enable him to be completely honest with his family and co workers. At the same time, his
threatening facial expressions demonstrate the passion and thought put into his words. Most
importantly, lacking a fear of hurting another person s feelings, Don is able to overcome the
restrictions of polite conversation and clearly deliver the truth to whomever he is speaking. His
rude remarks and borderline impolite phrases demonstrate that he loves his family and friends so
much that he is willing to hurt their feelings to ultimately build them up to be better people. He has

Theories Of Narcissism
1) Introduction
In business world, the type and the level of competition have become very complicated and been
changing rapidly. In this competition, environment, survival of the firms/organizations turns out to
be dependent on their ability to follow/adapt these ever changing updates and behaviours with
regards to their requirements.
It is very obvious that employees in organizations have become more sentient and educated than the
past. Individuals expectations get higher and they question their eigenvalue within the organization.
With this changing profile of employees, the management of relationships become more important
and cause changes on effective leadership styles. This also increases the importance of having
social and individual abilities for being a leader.
Lately, narcissism which is a psychological term has started to be attributed with leadership.

According to the social learning theory, behaviours are learned by observing other people and
individuals who refine learned behaviour with feedbacks based on their observations In order to
internalize the observed behaviour, the person whose behaviours are observed must have higher
status than the observer. Besides, the observed behaviour is affected by the appropriate
behavioural standards developed by the observer (individual). These standards are related with
how the limits are experienced in childhood and how they are experienced in adulthood. When
narcissism is reviewed according to the social learning theory, narcissism occurs, for example when
an individual experiences a situation in which she has been looked down/talked down by someone

Realism And Impressionism
Realism and Impressionism are two noteworthy periods in history of art during which distinctive
types of art including painting, architecture, music, essentially enhanced, mirroring the ideologies
and artistic philosophies during that time.
Throughout the movement of Realism in the 19th century, it had become common for Parisians to
make outings to the suburbs along the Seine and, although related scenes had already appeared in
illustrations and prints on themes of Parisian leisure, they were unusual as the subject matter for
large painting. In general terms of suburban leisure, Courbet s was first of what became a highly
popular topic for painting, especially among the Impressionists, from Г‰douard Manet DГ©jeuner
sur l herbe and Claude Monet On the bank of the Seine to George Seurat s A Sunday Afternoon on
the Island of La Grande Jatte .
This essay compares and contrasts these two art periods regarding the major works created by
outstanding artists. In such manner, the work Young ladies on the banks of the Seine , created by
Gustave Courbet has been compared with Г‰douard Manet s painting Luncheon on the grass .
Courbet s painting depicts two young Parisiennes resting during the summer heat in a flowery spot
under overhanging trees on the shady banks of the Seine. The piece exhibited for the first time in
Paris in 1857 provoked a scandal caused mainly by the Courbet s choice of subject. He changed the
traditionally way of portraying women within a natural setting with

What Does Twas Warm At First-Like Us Mean
Twas Warm Once Like Us
Emily Dickinson is one of the world s most well known poets. In the world of Literature her
name is never hard to find within the classroom. Emily Dickinson has a very distinct style which
sets her apart from other poets. Dickinson s poem Twas warm at first like us is one of her widely
known poems and it reflects her signature style. The dreary and impersonal description of a cadaver
catches the attention of the reader making it a favorite to many. Emily Dickinson s poem Twas warm
once like us captures Dickinson s unique style and shows a truth about the coldness of death
through the use of diction, tone, and imagery.
Dickinson s poem begins with an unspoken but rather important question. [I]Twas warm at first
like us , (Dickinson) the question one must ask himself, is: What is it ? The answer is revealed
later in the poem as the words describe different cold and freezing parts of a body. Emily
Dickinson chooses the word [i]t rather than he or she to show the sharp contrast between something
that is human, and something that is now only a lifeless object. The impersonal word also contains
Dickinson s style. Dickinson often uses impersonal diction most likely because of her inability to
be part of the world outside ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dickinson also describes the death of the person through the use of metaphor and simile by

Salomon v A Salomon Co Ltd From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (Redirected from Broderip
v Salomon) Salomon v A Salomon Co Ltd [1897] AC 22 is a landmark1 UK company law case.
The effect of the Lords unanimous 2 ruling was to uphold 3firmly the doctrine4 of corporate
personality, as set out in the Companies Act 1862, so that creditors of an insolvent company could
not sue the company s shareholders to pay up outstanding debts. Facts[edit] MrAron Salomon made

The company in this case has been regarded by Vaughan Williams J. as the agent of Aron
Salomon. I should rather liken the company to a trustee for him a trustee improperly 20 brought
into existence by him to enable him to do what the statute prohibits. It is manifest 21 that the
other members of the company have practically no interest in it, and their names have merely
been used by Mr.Aron Salomon to enable him to form a company, and to use its name in order
to screen himself from liability. This view of the case is quite consistent with In re George
Newman Co.[4] In a strict legal sense the business may have to be regarded as the business of
the company; but if any jury were asked, Whose business was it? they would say Aron Salomon
s, and they would be right, if they meant that the beneficial interest in the business was his. I do
not go so far as to say that the creditors of the company could sue him. In my opinion, they can
only reach him through the company. Moreover, Mr.Aron Salomon s liability to indemnify the
company in this case is, in my view, the legal consequence of the formation of the company in
order to attain a result not permitted by law. The liability does not arise simply from the fact that
he holds nearly all the shares in the company. A man may do that and yet be under no such
liability as Mr.Aron Salomon has come under. His liability rests on the purpose for which he
formed the company, on the way he formed it, and on

Was William Of Normandy Justified
William of Normandy was the legitimate heir to the throne of England in 1066 for many reasons.
Legitimacy is the realness of something or someone that is valid, supported, and accepted. He was a
legitimate ruler because he had military accomplishment, he had justification from the religious
world, and he had the peoples approval. One criteria William of Normandy met to meet the
standards of being a legitimate king was, he had military accomplishment. One example was when
William went to war with Duke conan of Britanny, as the intense batlttle was filled with battle
soldiers on horseback throwing lances, and trying to set fire to the defences, and it finaly came to
an end when the mighty conan surrendered. Another military accomplishment William of
Normandy had was after Willam heard that Harold overtook king after king Eward died, William
was furious. This caused him to organize a fleet of warships and invade England, and the Battle of
Hastingshas offically begun. The long and violent battle is hardly faught, with men on the ground,
and as William... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example of this is, when he offically became king of England he gave lands out to the
people. Most notibily, he gave land to the churches because the pope supported his claim to the
English throne, therefore he had religous support to his rulership. Another example of his
religous justification is, his half brother Odo. He made Odo the Bishiop of Bayeux, and even
built a catherdiral there. Odo was always on Williams side in battle, by leading prayers for
victory..( Britan s Bayeux Tapestry ar Reading Museum ) Finally, William had receieved the oath
of allegiance from Harold, which is another justification he recieved from the religous aspect of
life.(Crack ВЁBatle of Hastings 1066 ) overall, throughout Williams rule, the religous life was a
big part in his sucession and support he had, from the pope to his half brother who became the

Evolution of Development Policy and its Impact on Region Disparity in India since 1980: In
Search of Convergence of Real Per Capita Incomes
Md. Mofidul Hassan

Gauhati University, Guwahati 781014
(Abstract)
After three decades of quantitative control regime, development policy in India had a liberalized
mold in the 1980s. Unleashing of full fledged reform process since 1991 was followed by
significant step up in the rate of economic growth in the country. But as the evidence of unequal
distribution of gains of higher growth started surfacing, the development strategy was further
modified to make the growth process more inclusive. The present paper is motivated by the
question whether regional disparities in development attainment in India tended to increase or
decrease during these three phases of development policy in the period since 1980. The analysis
has been carried out in terms of beta convergence of real per capita income of states of India. The
results suggest divergence in the early years but a moderation of the divergent tendencies in the
subsequent period. However a convergence process has yet to be set in motion. Key words:
Regional disparity, Convergence, Divergence, Development attainments.
1. INTRODUCTION:
In a vast country like India regional disparities in development attainments can be naturally present.
However persistent and widening regional disparities are

are available in the whole system framework (LAN organize, singular gadgets and ISP) that make
up the system (Laurie, 2002).
Systems are by and large confronted with all or a portion of the key vulnerabilities or shortcomings

Of course, it is a factor but the gravity of earth compared to Europa is very different (Europa s gravity is very like our moon, which is 5/6 less than earth s gravity). A team member responded. The escape velocity (4) (the velocity required for an object to leave the gravitational field) to leave earth was one that my space craft needed to beat in order for my mission to be a success. (the escape velocity for earth is 11.2 km/s) The escape velocity takes in account the gravitational force, the mass of the object, and the radius (the distance of from the center of the earth) (the escape velocity is the sum ... Seeing the infinite darkness with specs of light from the stars gave me a whole new perspective. My first mission in space was a six month stay on the International Space Station. From the ISS I could see an amazing sunrise, but this new mission made me feel so disconnected from my home. Travelling where no man has ever gone gave me new inspiration and courage. As my destination approached I began to refresh my studies on Europa. Europa is a moon (11) (a celestial body that orbits around a planet) (Jupiter has 63 moons) (moons can also be described as a natural satellite) of the Galilean family orbiting Jupiter. Essay on Religion and the Development of the Western World Religion and the Development of the Western World The accomplishments and success of civilizations are closely linked to their religious outlook and the role of religion in their governments and society. Throughout history rulers have used the influence of religions to control their populations and provide the justification for their power. A society with a greater degree of separation between religion and government promotes a superior level of liberty and creativity amongst its people. By the time of the decline of the Roman Empire in the west, however, the world had come full circle to a return to theocratic dictatorship. The focus of Greek thought was on the community of man within the polis. They developed their laws and philosophies in accordance with what seemed to them appropriate social interaction, not the decrees of a god, a priest, or a king. Ethics and morality became the questions of high minded citizens who created schools and systematic empirical methods for seeking the answers to questions of right and wrong, politics, and the nature of man. The gods of the Greek religion, while super human in strength and immortal, were humanly fallible. They were seen as the patrons of certain city states and their worship was out of a sense of civic duty and the hope that the gods would lend their assistance both to the community and the individual. Many of the teachings were common sense virtues such as self awareness and moderation as in the Cult of Delphian Apollo. This naturalistic focus allowed them to seek their answers through the scientific method of philosophy. They developed the beginnings of atomic theory and wrote fairly objective histories that sought to explain the causes and learn from the events of the past. The gifts of education were more available to the common citizen than in any previous time in history and the political system allowed each man a say in the government of his community. Analyse the advantages and disadvantages of conditional fee arrangements for legal aid. A conditional fee arrangement is basically a form of risk sharing whereby if the lawyer loses the case, the client does not have to pay. However, if the case is won, the lawyer can be recompensed through a success fee, which is worked out as a percentage of his cost. In the US, many cases have been funded this way but in English legal system conditional fee arrangement had been banned until the enactment of the Courts and Legal Service Act 1990. Another area which could be hit is that of cases which have enormous public importance, but which need large amounts of work, are difficult to win, and may attract relatively low levels of damages even if successful. These include some types of action against the police and Government, such as complaints by prisoners about their treatment. The Act does address these issues in that it provides for cases in excluded categories to be funded in exceptional circumstances; it remains to be seen whether this will be sufficiently flexible in practice. Another disadvantage is unfair trials. Where legal aid is refused, a trial may prove to be unfair of one party is represented but the other is not. This is potentially a breach of Article 6 of the European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR), which guarantees the right to fair trial. In Steel v UK (2005) (or common known as the McLibel Two), Ds were environmental campaigners who were charged with defamation for disturbing leaflet criticizing nutritional content of McDonald s fast food. • 8. Video Games Call Of Duty One of the biggest controversial cases among parents and children is, whether to allow them to play violent video games. Many people often assume that these intense games have a direct correlation to becoming a violent person. While many people agree with this, the research is not 100% accurate. This makes it very hard to find proof that a violent video gameis one of the leading causes of a violent person. We are often blaming these games for a more internal complex problem. One of the leading video games Call Of Duty focuses on killing people in order to win the game. This game has over 40 million users and is the most successful franchise in all of history. In my opinion what is the fun of theoretically killing virtual people? I do not think kids should be subjective to watching this violence at a young age. These games should be geared for adults more than children. When the child is held at the age of accountability they can then decide what games are good for them. When a shooting happens many people are looking for reasons as to why it happened, many times they automatically assumed that person played violent video games. Conservatives start to raise their opinion when things in American go awry. Republican Donald Trump tweeted on Twitter: Video game violence glorification must be stopped it s creating monsters! • 9. The African Of African Descent The people that are one of the most oppressed and restricted throughout recent history, if not the most, are considered to be the those of African descent. There was, and arguably, still is institutionalized racism against people of African descent in the Americas, with a prime example being the peculiar institution of slavery. This institution was so peculiar that, in many countries, the long, entire process of capturing, enslaving, and forcing of people to work, primarily those that were of African descent, became so profitable and efficient that slavery became the backbone of an entire country in terms of labor, such as the United States. Naturally, of course, there was always a constant resistance to this oppression, no matter where the enslaved people were, or under which circumstances they were subject to. The Africans that were brought to the Americas as captives by Europeans would resist against their captors in different ways, and so would their descendants, until they were liberated. Understanding what slavery was commonly like is important, as it allows one to gain information on the outstanding cruelties of slavery, as well as give reason to the sometimes extreme resistances put up by the Africans and African Americans. It is important to note that enslaved persons were fifty percent more likely to die in their first fourteen years of life when compared to their white, free, counterparts, largely due to an innutritious diet that more often than not consisted of ... • 10. Cheesecake Factory Healthcare Analysis There are major differences between the US health care system and the Cheesecake Factory that should be kept in mind. Contrary to the Cheesecake Factory, health care facilities are focused more on the accessibility of the system for staff use and not patient use. Healthcare is something everyone will encounter at some point in their life. The cheesecake factory does not have this problem; the restaurant makes a profit solely because people decide to eat there. Healthcare is a permanent business. If you have a chronic disease, broken bones or are simply sick you don t contemplate whether or not you seek medical treatment, it is mandatory. The difference between Cheesecake factory and Health Care facilities is patient eduacation. The most important thing, within the hospital setting, is patient education... says Dr. Tracy Lawrence (Gruessner 2015). At the Cheesecake Factory you can pick where you want to sit, what you want to order, whether or not you want dessert, and how much you want to spend. • 11. Army Intelligence And Security Command Essay For Army counterintelligence to be adequately effective against its adversaries, US Army Intelligence and Security Command should release control of Army counterintelligence elements. Once released, all counterintelligence agents should be reconstituted into a new Counterintelligence Corps. Looking to the past and the Counterintelligence Corps during World War II and the Korean War, the Army could recreate the most functional form of Counterintelligence it has ever had. Currently agents are assigned to units randomly and often work in capacities other than counterintelligence. Placing all agents in one unified command would help focus the efforts of Army counterintelligence and better protect the Army. Army counterintelligence (CI) serves a tremendously important function within the United States Army and the overall US Intelligence community. However, the utilization of Army CI is very flawed. Agents are recruited from the best the US Army has to offer via a formal application and recruitment process. After acceptance into the program, prospective agents are sent to the CI Special Agents Course (CISAC) at Fort Huachuca, Arizona for approximately 19 weeks. During CISAC, future agents are trained on CI investigations, source operations, discreet surveillance, as well as evidence collection. • 13. Suspense In The Liars The text We Were Liars written by E. Lockhart follows the summers of a group of teenagers, collectively called The Liars. The narrator of the story, Cadence Sinclair, suffers from an accident on their island, and loses most of her memory. Throughout the chapters, she pieces together the timeline and finds out what truly happened the summer of her accident. The story focuses around the theme of choices and power, and the author pushes the idea that all actions have consequences. An interesting and important episode in the book was when Cadence discovers that her accident involved her killing her friends. The Liars decided to set fire to one of the family houses on the island, attempting to get rid of the family feud over who had power over it. As Cadence was on the ground floor, the fire grew upwards, and her 3 friends died as the house burnt, and she was the only one able to escape. To me, this is one of the most interesting scenes in the book, as even after the accident, Cadence was having conversations and physical contact with them, though in the end, you find out that they were merely hallucinations brought on from her head injury, or even ghosts. I liked how the author did this, as she showed only minor hints throughout the book that they weren t alive, and it left you guessing until the end of the book. The way the author creates a feeling of suspense throughout the novel because of this left me wanting to keep reading. Cadence remembers the fire at first, but not her ... • 14. Rational Solutions To The Cold War Rational Solutions for Emotional Problems As Carl von Clausewitz famously stated, War is merely a continuation of politics by other means. He could not have been more accurate in the case of the Cold War, which came more than a century after his death. The Cold War, being a war of competing ideologies as well as competing nations and militaries, was focused more on political conflicts than military ones, thus giving it the moniker of being a cold war. Yet while the United States of America, the leader of the liberal democratic side, did realize the importance of politics in the war, it was not so adept in understanding the political climate of the areas in which the Cold War was hottest. It is undoubtedly true that the American policymakers of the war understood its battles better than the ordinary Korean or Vietnamese when it came to facts and figures; at the same time, when it came to understanding the emotions the battles brought to its various participants, the policymakers were often seemingly clueless. The United States, all throughout the Cold War, showed an inability to understand the emotional climate of its chosen battlegrounds and the emotional impact its choices had on them, and constantly offered rational solutions to issues with emotional roots. This mistake impacted the American involvement in the Cold War, and should serve as a lesson from which the US evaluates its current actions. One story that stuck out to me was the tale of Vivek Randive and his daughter s junior high basketball team. Randive understood that the team s greatest weakness was lack of experience. In understanding this weakness, Randive decided to introduce a full court press into their preparation. He did this because he figured you didn t need to have experience in basketball to play tough, suffocating defense. In most cases, teams would only use the full court press in the last moments of the game. Randive unconventionally used this press throughout the entire duration of the game instead of just the last moments like most previous teams did. The teams who played them were puzzled as to why they were overmatched by such a team with lack of talent and skill. The main reason Randive s team was effective in their strategy was because what they implemented a temp late that most teams and coaches were not prepared for. Thomas acts with peace, whereas Checkers turns to violence and bitterness. Even though they act out differently, they react alike as they grieve alone, reach out for attention and acceptance, and reject alcohol. As Checkers alcoholic father abandoned her and Chess, she uses rebellion and anger to cope with the bitterness she has toward her father. It is just over 100 years old. Over time it has gone through several changes and its unlikely to disappear anytime soon. We as Americans are still trying to find different ways to approach juvenile justice vs. approaching it as adult justice. Throughout most of history, young adults and or children did not have a separate status between juvenile and adults. Once you reached the ages of 5 or 6, you became apart of the adult society. There was no separate system for dealing with youth offenders. In the early 1800s, problems with how to deal with youth offenders began to come about due to society going through economical... Even though they were trying to provide help to youth offenders, criticism during this time, focused on racial discrimination, gender disparities and discrimination towards children with mental health problems or learning disabilities. Today in America, no population poses a larger threat to public safety than juvenile offenders. Character matters because even when we think no one is looking, they are. People are always watching us and the way we behave and many will look to us in admiration and inspiration, so it is our job to constantly be a role model of good character. A couple of ways that we can show our character are through gratitude and respect, but we can also look up to others, such as Benjamin Franklin, as role models for good character. Showing gratitude towards others is a great way to express good character. Being thankful and showing appreciation for those in our lives helps us strengthen our character and show others the good in ourselves. Being grateful is also a way of being humble and allowing others to see that we don t think we are better than them. Gratitude can sometimes be hard to find, but there are many ways to show how grateful we are. • 22. The Six Barriers To Effective Communication The six major barriers to effective communication are as listed below (i) Cliche (ii) Jargon (iii) Slang (iv) Sexist and Racist language (v) Euphemisms (vi) Doublespeak A cliche is a phrase or a word which was previously considered clever, but due to the passage of time and overuse has lost its original meaning (McLean, 2010). An example is, the writing is on the wall and some fools may fail to read and understand while the signal is made . The sentence seems straightforward, but some receivers of information may start gazing at the wall reading whatever they find there thereby failing to get the intended meaning. I gave a short speech to my staff a few years ago where I said the following, I need all of you be as fast as a rabbit and bring in many customers to our business . I was shocked when one member of staff stood up and walked out of the meeting hurriedly. I sent one of the staff to inquire whether there was something wrong only to be told that he was rushing to get the customers to come to the meeting. The second barrier to communication is the use of jargon. These are the words or terminologies which are common within a specific profession but quite unfamiliar to the clients who use the products. In a marketing set up, the marketer may do well to avoid such jargon while concentrating on what is common in the realms of the customer so that emphasis is laid on the benefits and usefulness of the goods or services. An example is the use of the word, one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. Psy315 Week 4 Ch. 4 Practice Problems 11, 14, 18 11. List the five steps of hypothesis testing, and explain the procedure and logic of each. The first step in testing hypotheses is to take the question at hand and turn it into a pair of theories that can be tested; the question is stated as a research hypothesis, and as a null hypothesis about the populations to be studied. The purpose behind this is to establish something to test the research hypothesis against, and essentially proving that the opposite of something is false is the same as proving that the thing is right. A prediction is made and then the polar opposite of the prediction is studied to ascertain its validity. If the null is proved wrong then the research hypothesis testing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A researcher predicts that listening to music while solving math problems will make a particular area of the brain more active. To test this, a research participant has her brain scanned while listening to music and solving math problems, and the brain area of interest has a percentage signal change of 58. From many previous studies with the same math problems procedure (but not listening to music), it is known that the signal change in this brain area is normally distributed with a mean of 35 and a standard deviation of 10. (a) Using the .01 level, what should the researchers conclude? Solve this problem explicitly using all five steps of hypothesis testing, and illustrate your answers with a sketch showing the comparison distribution, the cutoff (or cutoffs), and the score of the sample on this distribution. (b) Then explain your answer to someone who has never had a course in statistics (but who is familiar with mean, standard deviation, and Z scores). • 25. The Deadly Politics Of Industrial Pollution Nowadays it is common to hear on the news about recent health and environmental scares especially with the increasing research done about the causes and effects of global warming. However, life just a century ago was very different. During the early twentieth century, people trusted industries. Therefore, they did not fight for government regulation of industries or the need for it to inform them about possible harmful practices done by industries. It took the deaths and emergence of illnesses of many workers and citizens for the public to start worrying. Gerald Markowitz and David Rosner discussed this time period with a focus on the lead and chemical industries in their book Deceit and Denial: the Deadly Politics of Industrial Pollution.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To please the public the industry also said they would conduct research about the effects of lead, but the research was funded by the lead industry so they skewed the presentation of the results to the public. Soon there were also cases reported of lead poisoning in children from their habit of biting lead painted toys. This time the lead industry tried to distract the public by increasing their advertisements highlighting the benefits of lead using the mascot of the Dutch Boy Painter and slogans, such as ethyl is to gasoline what vitamins are to food. However, by the 1970 s with the introduction of safer elements and the decrease in public support, the lead industry lost its importance in the world. The second section of the book focused on the chemical industry, specifically vinyl chloride, where it was explained there was little known about the effects of chemicals. Because of this, there was the question of whether a product was to be considered safe until proven dangerous or vice versa where a product was considered dangerous until proven safe. This time the public showed greater opposition to the use of vinyl chloride, as environmentalists and labor unions united to reveal the harmful effects of it. Similar to the lead industry, the chemical industry also fought back reasoning to the government that only high levels of chemical exposure was harmful to people and the government ... However, persistent inflammation also contributes to diabetic feet (Armstrong). A modality that can address both inflammation and poor circulation would be ideal. Cold hydrotherapy could be that modality. Brief cold exposure leads to vasodilation and thus increased blood flow (Daanan). Scinto Professor Paul Rego American Government (Politics 113) 20 Nov 2014 The Legacy of John Marshall Few individuals have left as prominent a mark on the United States as Chief Justice John Marshall. An ardent Federalist, he worked throughout most of his life to separate the powers of national and state government, furthering the agenda of his party long after they dissolved. In Marbury v. Madison, he led the Court in striking down an act of Congress that was in conflict with the Constitution, legitimizing the doctrine of judicial review. Over the course of his thirty four year term, Marshall oversaw numerous landmark cases, his decisions in which played an undeniably critical role in the early development of American law. Thanks to his firm hand and consistent principles, he was able to secure the institutional power of the Supreme Court in the face of staunch Jeffersonian opposition affirming its place as an equal among the Executive and Legislative branches of government. The Supreme Court was established in 1789, with its powers stated in Article III of the newly ratified United States Constitution. In the years leading up to the Marshall era, the Court was little more than a shadow of its future self. It lacked both the prestige and authority of the latter 19th century. • 43. Realism And Impressionism Realism and Impressionism are two noteworthy periods in history of art during which distinctive types of art including painting, architecture, music, essentially enhanced, mirroring the ideologies and artistic philosophies during that time. Throughout the movement of Realism in the 19th century, it had become common for Parisians to make outings to the suburbs along the Seine and, although related scenes had already appeared in illustrations and prints on themes of Parisian leisure, they were unusual as the subject matter for large painting. In general terms of suburban leisure, Courbet s was first of what became a highly popular topic for painting, especially among the Impressionists, from Г‰douard Manet DГ©jeuner sur l herbe and Claude Monet On the bank of the Seine to George Seurat s A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte . This essay compares and contrasts these two art periods regarding the major works created by outstanding artists. In such manner, the work Young ladies on the banks of the Seine , created by Gustave Courbet has been compared with Г‰douard Manet s painting Luncheon on the grass . Courbet s painting depicts two young Parisiennes resting during the summer heat in a flowery spot under overhanging trees on the shady banks of the Seine. The piece exhibited for the first time in Paris in 1857 provoked a scandal caused mainly by the Courbet s choice of subject. • 47. What Does Twas Warm At First-Like Us Mean Twas Warm Once Like Us Emily Dickinson is one of the world s most well known poets. In the world of Literature her name is never hard to find within the classroom. Emily Dickinson has a very distinct style which sets her apart from other poets. Dickinson s poem Twas warm at first like us is one of her widely known poems and it reflects her signature style. The dreary and impersonal description of a cadaver catches the attention of the reader making it a favorite to many. Emily Dickinson s poem Twas warm once like us captures Dickinson s unique style and shows a truth about the coldness of death through the use of diction, tone, and imagery. Dickinson s poem begins with an unspoken but rather important question. [I]Twas warm at first like us , (Dickinson) the question one must ask himself, is: What is it ? The answer is revealed later in the poem as the words describe different cold and freezing parts of a body. Emily Dickinson chooses the word [i]t rather than he or she to show the sharp contrast between something that is human, and something that is now only a lifeless object. The impersonal word also contains Dickinson s style. Dickinson often uses impersonal diction most likely because of her inability to be part of the world outside ... The company in this case has been regarded by Vaughan Williams J. as the agent of Aron Salomon. I should rather liken the company to a trustee for him a trustee improperly 20 brought into existence by him to enable him to do what the statute prohibits. It is manifest 21 that the other members of the company have practically no interest in it, and their names have merely been used by Mr.Aron Salomon to enable him to form a company, and to use its name in order to screen himself from liability. This view of the case is quite consistent with In re George Newman Co.[4] In a strict legal sense the business may have to be regarded as the business of the company; but if any jury were asked, Whose business was it? they would say Aron Salomon s, and they would be right, if they meant that the beneficial interest in the business was his. I do not go so far as to say that the creditors of the company could sue him. In my opinion, they can only reach him through the company. Moreover, Mr.Aron Salomon s liability to indemnify the company in this case is, in my view, the legal consequence of the formation of the company in order to attain a result not permitted by law. The liability does not arise simply from the fact that he holds nearly all the shares in the company. A man may do that and yet be under no such liability as Mr.Aron Salomon has come under. Legitimacy is the realness of something or someone that is valid, supported, and accepted. He was a legitimate ruler because he had military accomplishment, he had justification from the religious world, and he had the peoples approval. One criteria William of Normandy met to meet the standards of being a legitimate king was, he had military accomplishment. One example was when William went to war with Duke conan of Britanny, as the intense batlttle was filled with battle soldiers on horseback throwing lances, and trying to set fire to the defences, and it finaly came to an end when the mighty conan surrendered. Another military accomplishment William of Normandy had was after Willam heard that Harold overtook king after king Eward died, William was furious.
