Interactive	Gratitude	Exercise

Step	1. Take	a	moment	and	ask	the	Spirit	to	help	you	remember	a	moment	of	gratitude.
Write	it	down.
Allow	the	feeling	of	gratitude	to	fill	you. If	you	are	able,	add	why	you	are	grateful	for	that
experience. If	you	are	having	difficulty,	let	Him	know	and	ask	Him	to	help	you. Usually	we	find
that	when	we	are	able	to	admit	we’re	stuck,	it	relieves	the	pressure	to	produce	results. God
meets	us	where	we	are	and	helps	us	get	unstuck.

Once	you	have	written	down	your	thanksgiving,	pause	for	a	moment	and	reflect	on	what	you
wrote.

Step	2. Next,	ask	God	what	He	would	say	to	you. Begin	writing,	but	don’t	filter	your	thoughts	at
this	time. Just	start	writing	and	all	the	Spirit	of	God	to	lead	you. Focus	on	putting	down	what	you
sense	about	His	response	to	your	gratitude. This	is	our	humble	attempt	to	hear	God. What	you
write	should	resemble	what	good	parents	would	say	to	their	children	after	being	touched	by
their	children’s	gratitude.

Step	3.	Find	someone	to	share	what	you	wrote. Read	it	aloud. And	listen	to	them	read	their
journal	entry	aloud.
