 Phase II- Defined goals, objectives, instructional strategies, instructional
technologies
 Phase III- Length of course, who’s involved in implementation, resources needed,
Implementation
 Phase IV- Evaluation Instruments Used, evaluation usefulness
 Name ofTraining offered: CBT (Cognitive BehavioralTherapy)
Certification Course
 Description ofTraining: There are a lot of those who suffer from a
mental health disorder. Due to their disorder, they often suffer from
negative thoughts about either themselves or the world around
them. This six month training is designed to provide our clinicians
with the skills they need in order to provide their participants with
cognitive behavioral therapy. The purpose of cognitive behavioral
therapy is to get a person to challenge the negative thoughts they
may have either about themselves or about the world around them.
Target Audience (and analysis)
The targeted audience for this training course is anyone who may be employed
by a mental health agency and who provides 1:1 direct therapy with a
participant.
In order to conduct an analysis, we first conducted a survey to those enrolled in
the course to see their level of familiarity with mental health, therapy, and
cognitive behavioral therapy in effort to see where to start. This was done by
taking surveys indicating their skill or knowledge level with a 5 being skilled
and 1 being unfamiliar. We also conducted brief one on one interviews to get
the audience’s understanding of cognitive behavioral therapy.
The characteristics of the audience are as follows: 25 adults 21 or over who have
completed either a master’s or bachelor’s level of education.
Modality of Delivery
The training will be taught on Mondays for 1 hour weekly for a period of six
months. In addition to the classroom settings, there are a variety of videos to
watch, online participation to partake in, as well as actually putting the skills
to use with clients, which will be taped by the professional (with signed
consent from participant) which will be submitted for feedback.
Goals of theTraining:
 1) Ability to assist participants with
identifying coping skills they may not have
been familiar with
 2) Be able to successfully provide a
minimum of three different cognitive
behavioral therapy techniques
 3) Ability to provide feedback to other
clinicians as well as offer clinical consultations
CourseTitle: CBT (Cognitive BehavioralTherapy)
Certification Course
Defined Goals:
1) Ability to assist participants with identifying
coping skills they may not have been familiar
with
2) Be able to successfully provide a minimum of
three different cognitive behavioral therapy
techniques
3) Ability to provide feedback to other clinicians
as well as offer clinical consultations
 Objectives : with proper training, clinicians should be
able to successfully provide cognitive behavioral
therapy with their participants. During the
implementation of CBT, clinicians should be able to
follow the proper procedure of CBT, which starts with
a mood check, assessment of emotions, listening, and
providing engagement and a skill deemed useful for
therapy as well as successfully gain feedback from
their participant. Clinician should also be able to
assign (and follow up on next session) some sort of
CBT based homework for the participant to engage in.
Instructional Strategies used:
 Direct Instruction used in the form of the one
hour classes weekly
 Indirect instruction used in the form of the
online learning and videos the clinicians are to
watch on their own.
 Interactive instruction used in the form of
practicing 1:1 and role play with other clinicians
and with instructors
InstructionalTechnologies used:
 Cell phones, video, power points, tape recorders
Length of time for training
Training will take place for six months
beginning Monday April 10, 2017.
Consultation course trainings will be held on

 Individuals involved: Clinicians, certified
instructors

 Resources and materials needed: five tables
that can seat five individuals, handouts,
screen and projector, reading materials
How to implement the plan
 Communicating the plan- reviewing this plan with the
administration of the perspective clinician’s agencies
 Building interest in plan- Interest will be built by word
of mouth, the promise of certification, and by providing
testimonials of those who have already participated in
some sort of cognitive behavioral therapy.
 Selection of participants- Selection of participants is
open to choice of their agency and who they want to sign
up. Requirement for course is that they have to be a
degreed clinician working in the mental health field.
Criteria for determining goals
 1) Session review tapes will be presented
and evaluated
 2) Individual evaluations completed in the
beginning and end of program
 3) Quizzes will be held at the end of each
online learning session
 4) Individual interviews with constructor to
provide feedback
Evaluation instructions created
 Handouts, surveys, quizzes
How evaluation data can be used in the future
 Data gained from handouts, surveys and
quizzes will be used in effort to ensure that the
proper material is being taught and learned.
Information will also be used to ensure that
clinicians understand what is being taught.
Survey results will depict what was useful and
what could be omitted in future teachings.
It is the expectation of the constructor that at
the conclusion of this course, each clinician
will gain certification in Cognitive Behavioral
Therapy and be able and willing to practice.
ThankYou
