Using ORCID to identify datasets in 3rd party repositories?
ORCID API?
Requires ORCID to be linked with Datacite / populated with dataset records
Datacite API - https://api.datacite.org/
e.g. https://api.datacite.org/events?orcid=0000-0003-1904-2473&include=subj,obj
Requires ORCID to be used systematically in repository workflows
Populating ORCID records with repository content via DataCite’s ’auto-update’ feature (University of Cambridge)
Why this approach?
ORCID repository module limitations
Using ORCID API v1
No write to / read from ORCID registry
Simply used to disambiguate author names using ORCID’s public API
Elements > Repository
Read from ORCID via API v2
Via Repository Tools 1 (RT1) connector
