2. Our main character, Zoe Greenway, is a
stereotypical teenager, one that acts
nonchalant and is completely oblivious as to
what is actually going on around her. She also
has the look of a ‘ditsy’ blonde with blue eyes
and also a very innocent and pure look.

3. The film ‘The Unborn’ – released in 2009 is a supernatural
horror-thriller written and directed by David S. Goyer. It is
based upon a woman that is tormented by a ghost and she
has nightmarish hallucinations for instance a demonic
child with bright blue eyes. Moreover, there was a scene
within this production that had somewhat inspired me, as
the director however, as a group we have yet to come to
the conclusion as to whether or not we would like to use
the scene of the main character, Zoe, going back in to the
bathroom, opening the mirror-covered cupboard, taking
out a facial wash and then putting it back, closing the
cupboard and as she looks back, there is a figure staring
back at her – behind her – in the mirror.

4. Despite the fact that there is more than one
‘Scream’ e.g. ‘ Scream 2’ or ‘Scream 4’ etc, the
majority of them have scenes whereby the main
character gets a phone call and they get threats
of some sort, our production – Breathless – also
has an idea based upon this, out main character,
Zoe gets a phone call, also, however, instead of
threats being given, all she hears is the sound of
someone breathing down the phone line for a
few seconds and then the line goes dead – hence
the name of the production – ‘ Breathless’.

5. Whilst watching examples of other students’
work from the above years or even possibly
general short films fromYouTube, a few shots
that were used came across as really good,
for example, within our production, there is a
scene where the camera is placed inside the
fridge as the character of Zoe opens the
fridge and is as though we can see everything
she is doing.

6. In general, horror films have a purpose and that is
to put the viewer on edge, play with their minds
and also, to frighten them, of course. As a group
we had decided that the ending to our horror
film will either be safe and predictable or risky
and brilliant (if pulled off well).
Horror films that have predictable endings do not
necessarily fail to meet their aim (frightening the
audience) however it can – as a result, the group
thought our ending was debatable.
