2. INTRODUCTION
▸ Most of the modern innovative ideas in Nigeria are being driven
by younger population. Though the skills are there, but there are
still a number of limitations.
▸ Lack of enabling environment, adequate mentorship to develop
the idea with strong scientific backing are some of the challenges
against developing abundant innovations to market value in
Nigeria.
▸ There is a need for purposeful effort to annex these innovative
ideas and develop them with adequate support.
▸ Professional bodies, NSE have vital roles to play in achieving
this – Training, Advocacy, Resources, Link up with potential
sponsors

AREAS OF INTEREST
Proposed innovations should address problems associated with
Engineering divisions – Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Water,
Agriculture and others.
United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as
peculiar to the Nigerian state.
7. FORMATION OF COMMITTEE
A 7-man Technical Committee (TC) to oversee the process leading to
selection of potential projects.
The committee shall consist of members from diverse engineering
fields
ASSESSMENT
The TC will review all the entries received and sort into relevant thematic
areas as guided by the distribution of the titles of the various submissions.
Best 6 applicants (depending on the applications receive) in each of the 3
categories will be invited for final assessment before the jury/assessors.
The assessment will require scoring each of the submitted innovations
along the following assessment criteria: Originality, Value-creation,
Simplicity, Technical depth, among other details.

8. ANNOUNCEMENT OF WINNER
▸ The announcement of winners and award presentation will be made
in formal gathering so as to encourage other young innovators.
▸ The winner will also present his or her innovation to the audience.

9. PRIZE AWARD
▸ The Prize/Scholarship needs to be determined
▸ Suggestion on formal Education Scholarship in their next phase
of academic life
▸ The winners should be adopted as Sons and daughters of NSE
▸ NSE should provide professional mentorship
▸ NSE should give other support link
