1. WHAT IS NEXT GENERATION?
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Next Generation program is to
provide leadership, vision and support to advance
the careers of its members across North America,
and as it expands globally, through
Education,
Mentoring, &
Networking.

• ICSC’s Next Generation Program was started in 2001 in Chicago
• Today there are 92+ committees in North America and newly
formed communities in Europe, Mexico, Asia, and in the Middle East.
• 1,020+ events have taken place with 80,000+ attendees
• The annual Next Generation Conference has evolved into a high-level
global event.
• over 89 Local Committees hosting 147+events
powered by 485+ ICSC members worldwide
• THE next generation leadership board
(NGLB) oversees national initiatives, sets the
direction and strategy for the program, provides
support to State & Divisional leaders and
oversees leardership development at all levels
• Divisional state and province leadership
provide leadership, structure, and support to local
committees to ensure the best programming
GUIDING PRINCIPLES
Embedded in the mission statement of the Next Generation Program
there are several Guiding Principles that are promoted and adhered to
by the Next Gen Leadership Board (NGLB).
• FOCUS ON EDUCATION: provide strong programming at all levels
• FOCUS ON AWARENESS: introduce and promote Next Gen to the
relevant audience
• FOCUS ON DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION: promote in leadership
• FOCUS ON ALTRUISM AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: engage Next Gen
with the community
• FOCUS ON COMMUNICATION: provide structure and support to all
members and committees
• FOCUS ON GOING GLOBAL: promote to all Next Gen programs and the world
• FOCUS ON TALENT MANAGEMENT: promote leadership development to
ensure growth and stability of the program and career advancement
opportunities.

SHORT AND LONG TERM GOALS
Provide relevant program components for Next Gen members and
leaders, and provide a forum to connect leaders from around the globe.
THE FUTURE - WHAT IS PLANNED
Host a national conference each year to provide educational and
networking opportunities specifically tailored for the rising stars
and future leaders within the industry. #NextGenConf
Next Generation meets Altruistic Community Outreach by partnering
with the Foundation to raise money for various scholarships.

GENerosityDEVELOPING THE INDUSTRY’S FUTURE LEADERS
I. Create and institute a formalized communication plan to provide the utmost in
customer service and create awareness of ICSC and the Next Generation brand
II. Educate and inspire the future leaders of the retail real estate industry
III. Create and implement a governance structure for all Next Generation leadership positions
and committees
IV. Grow the Next Generation program to include a component for career and professional development
V. Continue to expand the Next Generation program globally by partnering with global
Next Generation boards and programs to create a unified and collaborative initiative
VI. Develop a formalized strategy for succession planning
VII. Promote and facilitate altruism through specifically campaigns which benefit the community
VIII. Engage with other ICSC programs and events
IX. Collaboration with ICSC’s student program
SPECIAL INDUSTRY GROUPS focus on a specific sector of the
industry, and provide interactive discussion groups to share best
practices , have the opportunity to delve into issues, challenges and to
network with colleagues.
