OSHA record keeping for employers who are required to keep injury &
illness record, must include injuries/illness for following,
 Employees on employers payroll
 Other employees that employers supervises on day-to-day basis
(Temporary Workers, Direct contractors, Contract Employees)
“Contracting companies are required to log”
 Other contractors / parties working for employer works/jobs but not
directly supervised by employer

7. Conclusion
 Based upon OSHA guidelines, Dupont response & industry
Benchmarking, following has been concluded:
• The employer who exercises direction & control over employees &
contractor is responsible for recording any work related injuries and
illness.
• Other parties/contractors where employer do not have direct supervision
or control, falls in the domain of contractors/other party.
• However writing expectations for employee safety and health protection
into the contract documents to be exercised and may be defined as
condition of business
