Health and Safety
Norpoint expects the following from all its’ employees:
Ensure personal and co-worker compliance with all applicable HSE standards and policies
Report any non-compliances, hazards and deficiencies in relation to HSE
Report all incidents immediately
Make safety suggestions
Participate in all forms of safety
Refuse work which is believed to be unsafe
Wear all required PPE as laid out by Norpoint and Provincial Occupational Health and
Safety Code (OH&S in AB, OSHA in ON)
Refrain from causing or participating in violence and harassment

All necessary HSE policies and procedures along with safe work practices and safe job
procedures are implemented, available to be, reviewed and are followed. Role specific
orientation will review the relevant safe job procedures. Any and all policies and procedures
can be made available for review, upon request to your supervisor.
All employees are to use proper PPE, and aware of and adhere to Norpoint’s HSE policies and
procedures.
All policies and procedures are easy to understand and clearly connected to operational
effectiveness. If there is change or new rules are implemented, employees are made aware of
these changes once completed.
Rules are reviewed annually at a minimum to ensure compliance and support operational
change.
Relevant safe job procedures are communicated to all employees at their initial orientation and
are available to employees at any time to review upon request to their supervisor

Health & Safety Responsibilities
Norpoint aims to create and continuously maintain working conditions that promote a safe and healthy
workplace, ensuring compliance with the law and best industrial practices.
Current Occupational Health and Safety legislation is always available for easy reference to all
employees in its office and at each work site upon request to your supervisor.
Norpoint ensures:
All necessary HSE policies and procedures along with
safe work practices and safe job procedures are
implemented, reviewed, and followed
Only safe equipment and materials are utilized on the job
All employees use proper PPE, are adequately trained in
HSE and aware of and adhere to Norpoint’s HSE policies
and procedures
HSE incidents are reported, recorded, and investigated;
corrective actions are implemented, and lessons learned
distributed to appropriate managers and employees
Risks and hazards are assessed and mitigated or
eliminated, and every reasonable and practical effort is
made to ensure HSE compliance

Task Specific Hazards & Controls
In order to acknowledge all hazards and eliminate or minimize their impact, Norpoint is committed to
conducting hazard assessment and analysis exercises in relation to each job site and operation.
Based on precise details of a job to be undertaken, hazard assessment shall consider hazards
associated with use and handling of items, materials, equipment, surrounding environment and
conditions, methods of work performance, etc.
Norpoint staff shall perform:
Toolbox meeting at the beginning of every shift, hosted by the Supervisor, and all
foreseeable hazards will be addressed
Field level hazard assessments prior to starting any specific job and/or task, then revisited
throughout the day if there are any changes to the task or work area
Job Hazard Assessment prior to any job/project completed on a client site

Hazard Reporting
All workers are expected to participate in the daily Field Level Risk Assessment, Toolbox and
ongoing Hazard Assessment process.
Responsibility for conducting hazard assessments and analysis and identifying all existing and
potential hazards to workers lies with management (immediate job supervisors) and designated
personnel (Safety Coordinator).
The Safety Coordinator performs hazard assessments,
inspections and analysis and outlines required follow-up
actions and recommendations.
The findings and recommendations are reviewed and
implemented by the Operations Manager.
All Hazard Assessments are documented on the forms
provided, and the hazard assessment and analysis results
are immediately reviewed with all affected workers by the
immediate Supervisor.

Applicable Regulatory
Requirements
At a minimum, Norpoint will review the safety manual to ensure compliance with the Provincial
Occupational Health & Safety Codes.
The Safety Manager will ensure changes are made in a timely manner, should there
be a change in the code that effects the contents of this manual.
All Norpoint employee’s are required to report to their Supervisor all incidents as soon as is
reasonably possible, but no later than 24 hours following the occurrence.
Incidents which result in a personal injury causing lost time beyond the day
of the injury must be reported to WCB or WSIB within 72 hours.

General Norpoint Rules
Safety boots and eyewear must be worn at all times in all required areas of the Norpoint yard
and on client sites where required
All incidents, unsafe acts, unsafe/harmful working conditions, and all non-compliances must be
reported to a supervisor and/or management
All work must be performed in accordance with Norpoint’s Safe Work Practices (SWP’s), Safe
Job Procedures (SJP’s), and Government Legislation
The following is prohibited on all Norpoint and Client worksites:
• Possession or consumption of alcohol, drugs or unreported impairment causing prescription drugs
• Possession of firearms
• Possession of knives for the purpose of causing harm
• Fighting, horseplay and practical jokes
• Theft or vandalism
• Damaging, disabling or interfering with the safety of firefighting or first aid equipment
• Arriving at work or remaining at work when your ability to perform your job safely is impaired
• Smoking except in designated areas (outside the lunchroom trailer on Norpoint premises and as
designated by clients when on site)
• Use of cell phones while on the job. Cell phones must not be on a worker while work is being completed

Discipline / Enforcement
Policies
Management ensures that all employees are aware of, understand and abide by the workplace rules
and policies. If an employee does not adhere to Norpoint’s rules and policies, consequences in line
with our disciplinary policy must be enacted.

and/or repeated breaches of workplace rules

Violence & Harassment
Prevention Plans
Norpoint does not condone nor tolerate acts of violence or
harassment against or by any employee or manager. Norpoint
prohibits physical or verbal threats, intimidation or violence in
the workplace to minimize the risk of injury or harm.
Management and supervisors are trained in the identification of
workplace violence and harassment and in control measures
associated with undesired behaviours.
Workplace violence and harassment will be reported,
investigated and documented in accordance with company
policy and statutory requirements.

Payroll Policy
Your timesheet is your responsibility. It must be legible, filled out properly, handed in on time and fully
completed. If your timesheet is not received on time, there may be delays in your payment.
SHOP – Timecard must be completed daily at the end of your shift and handed into the bin in the Foreman's
office. If your timesheet is not in its proper location, it is your responsibility to hand it into payroll.
FIELD –Timesheets are required to be handed in every Monday. Field Supervisors can submit it on your behalf
on the iPad.
Employees are paid bi-weekly on Friday’s. Cut off is every second Saturday and
payment is for the two weeks prior to the payday.

Regions 2, 3 and 4. In Ontario, our office resides and operate on the traditional territories of the Indigenous peoples of the
Treaty 4 region, known as the Haldimand Tract, traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishnaabeg, and Haudenosauonee
