Good Night
A girl wakes up from a coma and stars suffering from an extreme case of
somniphobia- a fear of falling asleep. She regularly undergoes therapy treatments
in order to remove the phobia. She keeps getting flashbacks of a road trip and a
car accident, however she cannot connect them to her life. In the end, the
audience finds out that she was part of an experiment, where they tried to erase
her memory. There was a car ride in which she had fallen asleep few minutes
before the accident happened and she had fallen into a coma. Doctors tried to
erase her memory in order for her to not become traumatised. After continuous
treatments and investigations, she finally gets better. The film ends with a scene a
few months later where she wakes up during the night and her somniphobia
resurfaces again.
Pros:
- Interesting story which the audience would like to follow.
- Only a few actors required.
Cons:
- Difficulties with filming scenes in the hospital and during the car accident.
- Can be hard to obtain all the needed props, such as medical equipment and a
car.
Last Masterpiece
A girl, an artist mysteriously vanishes leaving behind her artwork, journals and a
critical masterpiece. The detective who got assigned the case gets charmed by
her writings and her art as he works to uncover the case. Weeks go by, he’s
reading and discovering more of her letters, messages, diving deeper into her
character and getting obsessed with the idea of her. The film ends on a sad note
as he finally succeeds in finding her, but chooses to respect her wishes to remain
hidden and lets her go.
Pros:
- Only a few actors required.
- Easy to film.
- No special equipment will be needed.
Cons:
- Requires a male actor.
Kimo
A kind, talented high school student Kimo, who is extremely protective of his
brother. In school he is favoured by both teachers and other students. He is known
for having a good reputation. The audience finds out that there is another, much
darker side to him. There is an enormous contrast between his personality in and
outside the school. As it turns out, he takes part in regular underground fighting
clubs that are highly illegal. Throughout the film, he is shown successfully
balancing his two personas. One day he runs into his younger homosexual brother
getting beaten up by a subgroup, called ‘Gaseri’. He at once gets in between them
and goes into a rampage revealing his true identity in front of the entire school. In
the end, his family and friends find out about his secret identity, however this
happens when he had already run away from home. He continues doing the thing
he loves-fighting and stays in contact with his brother.
Pros:
- Easy to find one location to film in-high school.
- Would attract the target audience-teenagers.
- Not many props needed.
Cons:
- Could be card to film fighting scenes in terms of camera work.
- Professional actors would be needed for the fighting scenes.
- Difficulties with accessing the desired locations.
- A large amount of actors needed.
Alice In Dreamland
Alice has narcolepsy, which is a disorder of excessive sleepiness. She constantly
falls asleeps in different places, like a bench in a park, while eating in a restaurant,
talking to people, etc. She is exposed to constant confusion as she experiences
fluent, unnoticeable transitions between reality and dreams. The audience
struggles to tell what is a dream and what is reality. Many strange things occur,
such as a giraffe sleeping in her apartment, inexistent pets appearing, random
people entering the room and doing unthinkable bizzare things.
Pros:
- Only one leading character
- Unique story
Cons:
- Could be hard to film the scenes in terms of location and props.
- Extremely difficult to obtain wild animals for filming.
- Dogs/cats would be hard to work with.
- Advanced CGI would be needed.
Her Child
A very kind and sweet school cleaning lady-Mary, has developed an unhealthy
attachment to a certain boy-Oliver in the school. She spends a worrying amount of
time with Oliver, giving her special treatment and bringing his gifts, such as good
and toys. Oliver takes a liking towards Mary as well and they develop a close
relationship. This stirs up a serious concern in Oliver’s mother. Later, we find out
that Mary had suffered a terrible loss in her late youth of losing her newborn child.
This becomes a horrible trauma for her and she found comfort in school, where
there are many children, especially in Oliver. The mother recognised that Mary is
unstable and took action, resulting in Mary getting fired from the school, as well as
a restraining order from Oliver.
Pros:
- Most of the film is happening in the school.
- Tragic and emotional topic.
Cons:
- Requires a large amount of actors (pupils, principal, mother etc).
