DEFINITION OF HEALTH EDUCATION :
• A process aimed at encouraging people to be healthy, to know what
they can do individually and collectively to maintain health and seek
health when needed. ( Declaration of Alma- Ata , 1978)
• The process by which individual and group of people learn to behave
in a manner conducive to promotion, maintenance and restoration of
health.

OBJECTIVES OF HEALTH EDUCATION:
• To encourage people to adopt healthy lifestyles and practice to
sustain good health.
• To promote the proper use of health services available for them.
• To motivate people to make their own health related decisions.
• To increase and improve the knowledge and attitude of public about
detection, treatment and control of disease.
• To create the awareness about the ill effects of alcohol, smoking etc.
• To improve the knowledge, expertise and correct practices to solve
their health problem at their level.
