 Computer engineering is a discipline that
integrates several fields of
electrical engineering and computer science
required to develop computer hardware and
software.
 Computer engineers usually have training
in electronic engineering (electrical
engineering), software design, and hardware-software
integration instead of only software
engineering or electronic engineering.
 Computer engineers are involved in many
hardware and software aspects of computing,
from the design of
individual microprocessors, personal
computers, and supercomputers, to circuit
design.
 Computer engineers are also suited
for roboticsresearch, which relies heavily on
using digital systems to control and monitor
electrical systems
like motors, communications, and sensors.
 In many institutions, computer engineering
students are allowed to choose areas of in-depth
study in their junior and senior year,
because the full breadth of knowledge used
in the design and application of computers is
beyond the scope of an undergraduate
degree.
 Other institutions may require engineering
students to complete one year of General
Engineering before declaring computer
engineering as their primary focus.
 The first computer engineering degree
program in the United States was established
at Case Western Reserve University in 1972.
 As of October 2004, there were 170 ABET-accredited
computer engineering programs in
the US.
 In Europe, accreditation of computer
engineering schools is done by a variety of
agencies part of the EQANIE network.
 Due to increasing job requirements for
engineers who can concurrently design
hardware, software, firmware, and manage all
forms of computer systems used in industry,
some tertiary institutions around the world
offer a bachelor's degree generally called
computer engineering.
 Both computer engineering and electronic
engineering programs include analog and
digital circuit design in their curriculum.
 Technical:
 Technical or specialised skills required for an
engineering career include the study of maths
and science.
 Maths:
 Students will need to take lots of maths subjects
at school if they are interested in pursuing
engineering at a tertiary level such as algebra,
geometry and trigonometry – they may sound or
be difficult but they will open the doors to many
exciting opportunities for students who take
these subjects.
 Calculus :
 combines all mathematical concepts and
develops these to the next level to solve
complex problems. Calculus uses designated
symbols and logic and applies them to do
difficult calculations, like determining the
orbit of a rocket, finding out how many
people can fit into a football stand or
predicting the time it takes a wave to reach
the shore.
 Science:
 Science, broadly speaking, refers to the body
of knowledge about the world as it is
understood through scientific method.
Observations about the world lead to
hypotheses or educated guesses about why
things happen or operate in certain ways. In
science, hypotheses are developed, tested
and, based on the results of the test, proved
correct or not. The following science subjects
are important when considering an
engineering career.
 Physics :
 the study of matter and energy and how
matter and energy interact.
 Chemistry :
 studies the composition, structure, and
physical properties of substances and the
reactions that produce or convert them into
other substances
 Biology : is the study of living organisms.
Biology encompasses several specialised
sciences including botany, zoology,
microbiology, and genetics.
 Ecology :
 sometimes called environmental science, is
the study of how living organisms and the
physical environment interact with each
other. All engineers need a basic
understanding of how things in nature are
connected.
 There are several other sciences that students
wanting to become an engineer should consider
learning about:
 anatomy, the study the human body
 anthropology, the study of cultures
 astronomy, the study of stars and the cosmos
 economics, the study of markets and resource
allocation
 psychology, the study of human senses; and
sociology, the study of societies or people in
groups.
 Teamwork
 Communications
 Technology
 Critical Thinking
 Communication skills are critical to success in
any career. Students need to continually
develop and improve their reading, writing
and speaking skills:
 English
 English literature
 Speech/communications
 Debating
 Media relations
 Journalism/broadcasting.
 Computer software
engineering:
 Computer software
engineers develop, design,
and test software. Some
software engineers design,
construct, and maintain
computer programs for
companies.
 Some set up networks such
as "intranets" for
companies. Others make or
install new software or
upgrade computer systems.
 Computer software
engineers can also work in
application design.
 Computer hardware
engineering:
 Most computer hardware
engineers research,
develop, design, and test
various computer
equipment.
 This can range from circuit
boards and
microprocessors to routers.
Some update existing
computer equipment to be
more efficient and work
with newer software.
 Most computer hardware
engineers work in research
laboratories and high-tech
manufacturing firms.
 Coding, cryptography, and information
protection
 Communications and wireless networks
 Compilers and operating systems
 Computational science and engineering
 Computer networks, mobile computing, and
distributed systems
 Computer systems: architecture, parallel
processing, and dependability
 Computer vision and robotics
 Computer science is a rapidly growing field.
Within the past 20 years, we have almost
given up old ways of communications for
electronic. If you pay attention to tech news,
they are always trying to find ways to
innovate previous inventions.
 20 years ago, mobile face to face video chat
was a future fantasy, now it's a reality.
 As a computer engineering major, you can
work for top tech companies such as Apple,
Google, Cisco, Intel, IBM, Windows, Samsung,
etc.
 If you are better programmer and know
coding and unique idea you have so you will
be able to create your own ideas in your
website.
 .NET
 JAVA
 PHP
 C
 C++
 ACTIONSCRIPT
 APPLESCRIPT
if you would like to work regarding computer
and you feel that you will become an engg. It
will be a wrong choice.
Because for becoming computer engg. You
must have logic ideas and know unique multi
usages technologies,
You also must know coding of various
computer languages for working in computer.
PROUD TO BE AN ENGINEER.

  • 5.  The first computer engineering degree program in the United States was established at Case Western Reserve University in 1972.  As of October 2004, there were 170 ABET-accredited computer engineering programs in the US.  In Europe, accreditation of computer engineering schools is done by a variety of agencies part of the EQANIE network.
  • 6.  Due to increasing job requirements for engineers who can concurrently design hardware, software, firmware, and manage all forms of computer systems used in industry, some tertiary institutions around the world offer a bachelor's degree generally called computer engineering.  Both computer engineering and electronic engineering programs include analog and digital circuit design in their curriculum.
  • 7.  Technical:  Technical or specialised skills required for an engineering career include the study of maths and science.  Maths:  Students will need to take lots of maths subjects at school if they are interested in pursuing engineering at a tertiary level such as algebra, geometry and trigonometry – they may sound or be difficult but they will open the doors to many exciting opportunities for students who take these subjects.
  • 8.  Calculus :  combines all mathematical concepts and develops these to the next level to solve complex problems. Calculus uses designated symbols and logic and applies them to do difficult calculations, like determining the orbit of a rocket, finding out how many people can fit into a football stand or predicting the time it takes a wave to reach the shore.
  • 9.  Science:  Science, broadly speaking, refers to the body of knowledge about the world as it is understood through scientific method. Observations about the world lead to hypotheses or educated guesses about why things happen or operate in certain ways. In science, hypotheses are developed, tested and, based on the results of the test, proved correct or not. The following science subjects are important when considering an engineering career.
  • 10.  Physics :  the study of matter and energy and how matter and energy interact.  Chemistry :  studies the composition, structure, and physical properties of substances and the reactions that produce or convert them into other substances  Biology : is the study of living organisms. Biology encompasses several specialised sciences including botany, zoology, microbiology, and genetics.
  • 11.  Ecology :  sometimes called environmental science, is the study of how living organisms and the physical environment interact with each other. All engineers need a basic understanding of how things in nature are connected.
  • 12.  There are several other sciences that students wanting to become an engineer should consider learning about:  anatomy, the study the human body  anthropology, the study of cultures  astronomy, the study of stars and the cosmos  economics, the study of markets and resource allocation  psychology, the study of human senses; and sociology, the study of societies or people in groups.
  • 13.  Teamwork  Communications  Technology  Critical Thinking
  • 14.  Communication skills are critical to success in any career. Students need to continually develop and improve their reading, writing and speaking skills:  English  English literature  Speech/communications  Debating  Media relations  Journalism/broadcasting.
  • 15.  Computer software engineering:  Computer software engineers develop, design, and test software. Some software engineers design, construct, and maintain computer programs for companies.  Some set up networks such as "intranets" for companies. Others make or install new software or upgrade computer systems.  Computer software engineers can also work in application design.  Computer hardware engineering:  Most computer hardware engineers research, develop, design, and test various computer equipment.  This can range from circuit boards and microprocessors to routers.
