The Industrial Revolution had widespread impacts on many aspects of life, including fashion. As textile manufacturing advanced through inventions like the spinning jenny and power loom, clothing became more affordable and widely available. This led fashion to become more accessible across social classes. Early factory-produced clothing was uniform, but as the 1800s progressed, people began expressing individuality through accessories and bolder colors/patterns. The rise of magazines further popularized different styles. Overall, the Industrial Revolution mass-produced clothing and helped launch fashion into becoming a widespread industry.
All of these slideshows are interactive and that's why they look jumbled up. They really are cool to look at and study so I will email the original file if someone wants it. All I ask is to not make any changes to it.

In general, clothing from the ancient Greek and Roman times was based more on function rather than style. Clothing was loose and flowing, never tight fitting. Tunics covered with layers of draped cloth were common for both men and women.
Loom is machine or device which is used to produce woven fabric. It is the central point of whole process of cloth production. In other word, a loom is a mechanism or tool used for weaving yarn and thread into textiles. Looms vary in a wide assortment of sizes. They come in huge free standing hand looms, tiny hand-held frames, to vast automatic mechanical tools. A loom can as well pertain to an electric line construction like that of a wiring loom. The main task of looms is to clutch the twist threads under pressure to enable the progress of interweaving of the woof strands. The loom's system and exact form can differ to some extent; however it still performs the basic application.

I wanted to give my students a quick, 1 class overview of what quilting is, how it has been used in the past, what it could look like and inspire ideas that they could use for themselves.
This is a presentation I gave in Sociology course about the industrial revolution talking about its factors, beginnings and consequences, and some related issues. I hope you like the presentation.

2. What is Industrial Revolution?
The Industrial Revolution was a period from the 18th to the 19th century where
major changes in agriculture, manufacturing, mining, transport, and technology
had a profound effect on the socioeconomic and cultural conditions.
The Industrial revolution took place in Britain, then subsequently spreading
throughout Europe, North America, and eventually the world. The Industrial
Revolution marks a major turning point in human history in almost every aspect
of human life.
Industrial revolution can also be described in the words of Nobel Prize winning
Robert E. Lucas, Jr. as he states,
"For the first time in history, the living standards of the masses of ordinary people
have begun to undergo sustained growth. ... Nothing remotely like this economic
behavior has happened before."
What is Industrial Revolution?
Collectively there were many major factors that contributed to Industrial revolution.
The urge to increase the quality of human like, to make technological advancement
led to the causes of the Industrial revolution. But there are three most important
causes of Industrial revolution were
• Dependency on technology
• Impact of education
• Protestant Reformation

e spinning frame, and was one of
the key developments in
the industrialization of weaving duri

John Kay in 1733, formed the ‘Flying
Shuttle’. The flying shuttle also allowed
the thread to be woven at a faster rate,
thus enabling the process of weaving to
become faster.
Inventions that changed the world of
fashion
• During the Industrial Revolution era, a clothing and textile revolution began in
Great Britain in the early 18th century. Through a combination of closely
guarded industry secrets that were legally forbidden to be disclosed, and the
proliferation of new and revolutionary machinery inventions such as:

6. Influence of Industrial Revolution on fashion
•In the late 1700s, people all dressed the
same in their social classes. The upper
class women wore fancy dresses.
•The men wore suits with long socks and
top hats.
•The middle class would general
transition between a couple outfits
depending on the situation, they could go
from scrub to fancy.
•The lower class generally wore worn out
clothing and didn’t own much color.
•Clothing was expensive and took long
time to make so what you wore showed
your class.
•Almost all of the clothing was heavy
material that was difficult to get around
in some ladies could not leave home
because of the weight of their dresses.
•As the industrial revolution started
spreading, so did the manufacturing of
thread, cotton, and other ways of making
clothing.
•It first started in great Britain in 1769
when the first factory was built in which
they spun thread.
•As time went on, more and more
factories popped up, producing better
thread and clothing in UK.
•The first factory in the USA was built
by Samuel Slater in 1790, but only
produced wheels of thread.
7. •By about 1800,people started to express
themselves through clothing by wearing
accessories, hat or even with unusual
colors and patterns.
•Dresses became more structured and
suits were made firmer.
•By this time people had started wearing
different things and fashion magazines
started just a couple decades later.
•In the late 18th century, clothes were
mostly sold by individual shopkeepers
who were often the artisans who made
the goods. Customers usually lived in the
same neighborhood as the shops and the
shops would gain popularity by their
customers’ word-of–mouth
recommendation, with the exception of
warehouses (i.e., any retail on
wholesale), where goods being sold were
not necessarily made in the shop.
8. Waistcoats or vests were
single- or double-breasted, with
rolled shawl or (later) notched
collars, and extremely tight
through the waist. Full-
length trousers began to have
the modern fly-front closure,
replacing the earlier fall-front
Men’s Fashion in 1800s
Children's fashion in 1800s
In this period, small boys wore sashed
tunics over trousers, sometimes with a
round-collared shirt underneath. Older
boys wore short jackets and trousers with
round-collared shirts.
Girls wore simplified versions of
women's fashion.

9. However, things started to change during the transition to the 19th century.
People sought efficiency and variety; under the influence of the Industrial
Revolution, improved transportation and introduction of machines in
manufacturing allowed fashion to develop at an even faster pace.
