Forecast Model for Box-Office Revenue of Bollywood Feature FilmsPrerit Kohli
We consider the technique to forecast the net revenue collections of a feature film. Previous work on this problem has been addressed majorly to Hollywood films with very limited work on motion pictures developed by the Hindi Film Industry – Bollywood. In this piece of work, we use the parameters governing a movie’s revenue and the historical revenue gross patterns for forecasting. We also show that the model can be used for low budget movies which are usually left out by technology giants like Google, Twitter etc. due to negligible buzz for the movie as compared to that for high-budget ones.

Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
2. Dangerous Ground
The film is going to start with a man walking in a mysterious place
looking calm but showing no expressions in his face. As he is walking
the title credits will appear around him as he walks towards the
camera. Right at the end of the opening once the credits of the films a
flashback will happen showing a serious event of a murder. This murder
would have been something that has just occurred and the mysterious
man will be walking away from the scene. But did he do it or not?
3. Drama
For the opening sequence for my film I would very much like to head
towards the drama genre side. I believe this will suit our group strongly
and this would be the best genre to have the biggest affect on the
viewers. I believe we could create a very tense opening sequence
and making the viewers really anxious to what the film is about. I also
think drama films cause a lasting affect on the viewers if it is created
effectively, the target is to get the viewers hooked in the 3 minutes of
our opening clip.
4. Inspiration
My inspiration has come from one of my favourite films called Layer Cake.
The titles which are in the opening sequence of the film are very good how
they are placed on objects and also the font is basic but very appealing.
Although I do not agree with the music in this clip for my opening
sequence I do very much like the opening credits. Also the different shots
of the car have been done very well. Another inspiration I have chosen is
from Seven, I also like this opening and this has the viewers anxious straight
from the start

5. Target Audience
Dangerous Ground will be targeting more of an older audience having
a film rating of certificate 15. I believe this is right target audience for us
the film should appeal to all above this age as drama has such a wide
audience. It will be 15 because of the language and violence and
dark events throughout. I think creating a drama opening scene is the
best option as I believe drama has the biggest audience.
6. Distinct
Setting – The opening scene will be set with a man walking through a
dark pathway having a series of flashbacks
Themes – The main theme will feature very low key lighting and a dark
area
Characters – The main character will be the man who is having the
flashback. Other characters will feature in the flashback which will
mostly be his relatives
Textual Analysis – We will have a head shot to show the mans
expressions on his face mostly. This will also include tracking and
panning shots of the man walking.
7. Institution
Paramount Pictures
Paramount pictures is very well known for its drama films it has produced, one
of the most popular ever drama films they have released is The Godfather
chain of films. This film has became one of the most popular films of all time
and is still making money today when it was released over 40 years ago. This
film also has one of the biggest profit margins and is still generating profit. The
film has also won 3 Oscars and 30 other major awards and 19 other
nominations.
