Film Proposal

          Retaliation
T YPE OF FILM
The type of film I will be making is a crime/thriller. I have decided on this
because I want the opening titles to seem mysterious and tense. It would
obviously be a British film due to being made by myself.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The target audience for my film will be aimed from 15 year old’s to adults This
is mainly because of the serious nature of the film. (with it revolving around a
murder case) With this being said, I believe the rating of the film would be rated
as a 12.

The desired audience response for my film would be somewhat confused and
yet interested. Hopefully, this would make a film more gripping as the audience
would be wanting to find out more.
STORY OF TITLE SEQUENCE
For my opening sequence, I have decided to not give away any characters
names but rather have a montage of shots overlooking a character on a
laptop researching a murder case. I would have various short and fast
paced shots of the character typing, shots of the screen itself and then
the character writing notes on the subject. It will be left unknown to the
audience who this character is, but the point of the opening is to signify
that a murder has taken place. The audience will know this from seeing
various articles and headlines on the murder and then hopefully, I can
have a picture of the murderer on-screen.
MOOD OF THE OPENING SEQUENCE

The mood would be quite dark and slightly tense and yet mysterious as to
who the character typing is and then why he is researching this murder.
CHARACTER(S)
In the title sequence itself, there is only one character involved, we do not
see his face but just his hands typing. (Although the character is not
named, he is a journalist. This is not necessarily given away to the
audience but something that they could possibly guess from seeing the
research going on in the sequence.)
LOCATION OF OPENING SEQUENCE
The location of the opening scene will be set in a dark room with some
faint light shining on the worktop where the character is typing and
researching the murder itself.
TITLES INCLUDED
The titles included will be of what is usually showcased in a real feature-film.
For example, Director, Actor(s), Camera, Editing etc. As this will be all done
by myself, I will most likely think up of names to include in the opening titles
as you obviously wouldn't see a Hollywood film with just one single person
named for each of the titles.

Font Used
For the fonts being used, I still have no real idea over what font to
use. There is a rough idea of the font I might use below but really,
I think this will be something that I will have to experiment with
when editing as I obviously still don't know what the final product
will look like.
ANIMATION USED

As far as I have planned, there will be no real use of animation for
the title sequence. With this being said, I may try and use
animation for the final title (being the film title itself) and then see
how it effective it looks overall.
BUDGET

If this were to be a full length feature film, I doubt it would have or
need a high budget. For the opening sequence itself, I do not even think a
budget would be needed other than having all necessary equipment and
lighting needed to film the scene.
SOUND/MUSIC USED

This in my opinion, will be the most important aspect of the editing
process, as the sound itself, as in any film will have a major impact on
how audience will react to the scene. If it is light hearted music, It will
most likely ruin the opening and so in this way, I believe that I will need
to find something scary or mysterious to attract viewers attention.
PRACTICAL CHALLENGES

The main challenge for me would be finding the correct lighting for
the scene. I would want it to be dark and yet be able to see the
character researching the murder.

One other practical challenge would be conducting all the required
documents of research for my character. I would probably have to
find look on the internet for pictures of newspaper headlines to
create a murder case for the character.
