Review
Here I will becreate a review about a thriller filmtrailer called 'The Follower' which is targeted at the audience
group of 15+, which is mainly youngmale/females.
Our filmtrailer’s canon is a to be a mixture of ‘The Bourne Identity’ because ithas an unknown character
which relates to our movie trailer becauseour evil character is hardly known and maybe ‘attack the block’
because in some aspects, our trailer can relatebecausewe both livein an urban environment and go through
violencein the area. The reason why we choseto have an unknown person starringin an urban environment is
because itwill open up the trailer with enigma codes to help make the audience out of their seats before the
trailer hasn’teven began. As each shot is taken itgives more information about the unknown character it
builds tension.
Havingsaid thatthe actors and characters in my trailer aregenerally youngadults could mean that the film
trailer is designed for that age group. Also if the audience is the same age as the characters itis justsuitable
because there would be a connection meaning both the characters and the audience maybe go through the
same things.Places likethe urban environment were used in our movie trailer to attractthe teenage age
group so that could understand more as well. These places arei.e. Denton, Penshurts and Maitland Park which
are appealingto a majority of the audience becausethey are familiarwith these specific locations In our movie
trailer I used different conventions i.e. once the quick chasescenes were playingthere was intense music
buildingup to make is seem more anxious and edgy but then stops as the lastshotis shown.Havingthis
soundtrack played will bringoutthe thriller element to the trailer. After usingmany enigma codes the
audiencewill feel more engaged into the thriller trailer.
Duringthe lastscenes as the equilibriumis restored I had the intense music stop to the part when the movies
fades out and that is when the stalker finds the house. The reason I stop the soundtrack is becauseI wanted
the audience to only hear the knocks on the door and its echo which was really effective because it
emphasises thatfact he’s a serious killer and thatecho’s represents the fact he’s lonely. This will grab my
audienceattention and make them feel likethey need to find out what could happen further on in the movie ,
having a peaceful scenes at firstbringa quiet atmosphere and then fastpaced scenes can switch the thoughts
of the audience to make them more anxious etc.which is a major key rolein thrillers.
Havingthe audience curious generally aboutwhat’s going to happen is good becausethey can find out in other
forms without using context but scenes that are blatantly passingon messagewhich will happen mostly comes
across in inter-titles to help fillingup the gaps.
Strengths and Weaknesses
My strengths in this task were that I had established whatwas going where and how the beginningwould
slowly build to the end.
My weaknesses in this task was that becauseI didn’t have enough time to edit I found ithard trying to give my
trailer thatedge that of being justmore than a successful thriller trailer.Another problem tha t occurred was
that when I tried to access my edited work there were technical problems were the sourceof the videos
weren’t found.
To overcome these problems I had used my free time to find a way around these problems in which I was
successful.
As we finished shootingwe had to edit the scenes perfect enough to fitinto the narrativeby doingso we used
adobe premiere to develop the movie, and with the good clips together we had a brilliantsequence. Reviewing

the trailer later on I understood and I needed to make some adjustments that I thought had to be done in
order for the trailer to outshine the other trailer.Mostgiven tasks were achieveand I the editing procedure a
success.
Havinga perfected our film trailers westill need some improvements, due to the lack of time we thought of
any filmnarrativeas fastas we could. We encountered much error in our group such as deleted work, no
equipment and unorganized work. The Props could have been more professional aswell as theediting.
Overcoming these problems I went into my schedule and used my free time to work my way around these
problems and hopefully itmade my trailer become successful.asmuch as thriller conventions as I could add I
did,and with the finishingresult.I believe overall my trailer was a success.
