•Kethuk – considered the time-keeper, plays on the off-beats
• Kenong – plays bass notes based on important notes of the balungan
KENDHANG
•Hand drums give aural cues on when to begin, end, and change sections
•Kendhang ageng – larger drum
•Kendhang keptipung – smaller drum
