This document discusses total quality management (TQM) implementation in higher education institutions. It reviews the literature on critical success factors for TQM implementation. The key findings are:
1) Critical success factors for TQM implementation in higher education include management commitment, the role of quality departments, training, employee involvement, and relationships with suppliers.
2) Proper education and training of those involved in the implementation process can help address issues like a lack of continuous improvement culture.
3) There are three approaches to TQM in higher education - a customer focus on students, a staff focus, and a focus on meeting service agreements and specifications.
This document discusses a conceptual paper on the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and the commercialization of university research products in Malaysia. The paper proposes that entrepreneurial orientation, which includes innovation, risk-taking, and proactiveness, has a positive relationship with the commercialization of research products from public universities. The paper reviews literature on entrepreneurial orientation and commercialization, and develops hypotheses to test the relationships. If supported, the findings could help increase commercialization rates of university research in Malaysia.
This study examines the impact of learning orientation dimensions on the relationship between information technology capability and the quality of management accounting information, with technological uncertainty as a moderating variable. The study found that commitment to learning, shared vision, and open-mindedness positively impact information technology capability. It also found that information technology capability positively impacts the quality of management accounting information. However, it did not find technological uncertainty to moderate the relationship between information technology capability and the quality of management accounting information. The study was limited by a lack of data connection between variables.
This document summarizes an academic article about organizational ambidexterity, or the ability of organizations to balance exploration of new opportunities with exploitation of existing capabilities. It discusses how maintaining this balance is important for long-term survival but difficult to achieve. Three case studies are presented of leaders attempting to drive ambidexterity in their companies: Mike Lawrie addressing disruptive innovation at Misys, Ganesh Natarajan implementing new software processes at Zensar Technologies, and Andy Palmer balancing legacy automotive business with electric vehicles at Nissan.

Abstract
- Institutions of higher learning face a new situation on
higher education. It holds some novel threats and presents some
fresh opportunities. Given the uncertainty of the future, collage
and university administrators cannot allow their organizations to
drift. This study assessed the managerial skills development of the
administrators of the five (5) well-established private institutions
of higher learning in Batangas, Philippines. A combination of
descriptive-purposive research design and survey method was used to
determine the managerial dimensions exhibited by the administrators.
Mean, Likert Scale, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Pearson Product
Moment Correlation Coefficient and and Bivariate Correlation were
used. There is no significant difference in the assessment of the three
groups of respondents in terms of communication skills and solving
problems effectively. However, there is a significant difference in terms
of self leadership, managing the task effectively, managing the people
effectively, and managing interpersonal relations effectively.
There is
a very high significant relationship among all the managerial skills
dimensions required of the institution administrators using the same
managerial dimensions. The managerial skills of the administrators
have to be enhanced to improve the quality of people in the institution.

Abstract
The 21st Century, however, presupposes an organizational systemic

Introduction
Firms today are beginning to realize that they attract and hire top
intellectual talent only for them to manage and supervise yet another team of
knowledge workers through the organization structure. This imposes upon
senior management time and talent to focus on making such knowledge
workers to work hand in hand with colleagues to experiment and innovate, to
work in teams that have goals that cut across functions and job competencies.
The wide use of teams and their consequent effectiveness has proven beyond
doubt the success of making people work in structured as well as
unstructured environments with only their goals in perspective.
The work force in turn having realized this potential are willing to take
additional responsibilities, willing to be empowered and consequently
operate with enhanced command over with their knowledge and its
application in untested areas.
The Primary challenge of an entrepreneur is to motivate top talent; to
seize opportunities by utilizing their human resou.

This document summarizes an abstract from the 9th International Scientific Conference on Applied Sciences and Engineering. The abstract discusses some biochemical markers that can predict pre-eclampsia. It states that tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) directly damages vascular endothelial cells and increases endothelial permeability, which may result in secretion of vasoactive substances and increased vascular permeability and coagulation. This involvement of TNF-α in the pathogenesis of pre-eclampsia means it may identify patients at high risk for the condition and serve as a marker of severity. Preeclamptic women also have abnormal lipid metabolism and profiles due to pre-eclampsia, and this alteration in lipid metabolism may play a key role in developing symptoms.

Abstract
This paper by considering concentrated ownership and corporate culture in Malaysia
argues that independent directors in Malaysian publicly listed companies plays a
significant role in providing resources that companies need for their operation and their
role is more salient during the crisis period. We select 289 samples randomly from
publicly listed companies on Bursa Malaysia for the pre-crisis (2007) and the crisis (2008)
periods. Hypotheses are tested by using paired sample t test with bootstrapping
technique. The results show that when companies faced the global financial crisis, they
appointed new independent directors on the board. More specifically, they appointed
independent directors who are capable to link the company to the government and
expand the companies’ networks with other large companies. Besides, after the crisis,
companies did not increase number of independent directors who are bankers, lawyers,
or have social connections as accessing to these kinds of resources is not priority in the
crisis period.
