international development community in Southern Africa. During the period he utilized

value chain development professional. He possesses ten years’ experience in value

Regional Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist
International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Regional Officer for
Southern Africa
I was contracted by IUCN Regional Office for Southern Africa as an M&E Specialist for the
Networking and Capacity Building (NETCAB) project. IUCN is a member organization with 50
member organizations in 10 countries in Southern Africa. In this capacity I had four main
functions:
• Grant management: I was involved in capacity assessments of the 50 member
organizations and capacity building. Sensitization of partners on M&E requirements
and lobbying for M&E resources. Representing the organization at Regional and
Country platforms
• Development of the M&E systems and synchronizing it with National
(Government) M&E systems. This involved liaising with sector partners e.g. the
SADC, the ministries of Environment and Natural Resources and the United Nations
bodies in tools development
• Partner support through training and mentoring. This was through Training
of Trainers, and on the job mentoring for field based officers for the 50 member
organizations and 2580 community volunteers
• Grant performance appraisal including developing and reviewing the
Performance Framework and Reporting especially Quarterly and Biannual reports
and internal monitoring and evaluative reports
