Problem statement
Scope of the broad problem:
• Indian Economy will get hampered.
• Man force Crisis- It is estimated that India would require 2.3 million employees in
17 enabled sections by 2015 but India has been able to produce only 1.6 millions
professionals in last 15 years and has uphill task of producing another 0.8 million in
the next 2 years.
Cause of the problem:
• Primary education is not up to the mark.
• No practical Training and education.
Reasons for selecting a specific cause:
• India is a country of youth and if the youth are not employable then the future of the
country seems dark.
• There is a gap between skills imparted during education and skills required by
industry.
Proposed Solution
•More Industry Institutions interaction. Expert from Industry need to come
forward and contribute to academics.
•Enhancing soft skills communication, leadership, life and team work at
college level through implementing non formal education by forming
professional societies.
•Efficient feedback and assessment system to place right people in right job.
•Setting a benchmark and redefining the quality of education across country.
•Follow Japan's education system : Legitimating what they teach,
transmitting cognitive knowledge, socializing and acculturating.
•Introduction of Vocational training programs in secondary and senior
secondary schools
•Follow Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) educational system in
rural and semi-urban Schools and colleges.[Earn-while-you-learn program]
•Career Counseling and guidance programmes to help school students find
their strengths and weakness and choose the right corner.
•Introduction of Faculties Training and Development Programs by IIMs and
IITs to improve the teaching skills and methodology for faculties of other
schools and colleges.
Merits of the proposed solution
The proposed solution has the following merits over the existing solutions:
• Involvement of industrial experts and students will make the curriculum
innovative and interesting.
• Practical training will give exposure to student while lacks in current
education system.
• This system will develop soft skills like communication, leadership and
teamwork through participation in various community based activities such
as NSS, other voluntary organization at broader level ,thereby making them
competent enough to get employed.
• Effective feedback system will lead to quality teaching, which will indeed
help in overall development of education system.
• The proposed solution will give the students an opportunity to choose their
career where they can do their best through career counseling programs fro
standard –IX
Implementation
The following steps should be followed for the implementation of the proposed
solution:
• Tie-ups between colleges and companies to give practical exposure along
with studies.
• Involvement of students in various professional societies like
entrepreneurship cell, consulting club, National service schemes ,etc to
enhance communication, leadership and teamwork skills.
• Introduction of a department by Govt. of India to monitor educational
qualities and to manage the feedback and assessment system effectively.
• Calling foreign academicians and experts from top universities to help us in
innovating and redefining our education system from KG to PG
• 50-50 weightage to theoretical and practical knowledge so that student get to
know about both sectors.
• Strict surveillance of colleges across the country to ensure quality teaching
and training and action against those institutions which don’t meet the
benchmark so that the graduates are competitive in corporate scenario.
Stakeholder involved at each step:
The major stakeholders at almost all steps are :
• Colleges * Students * Families of student
• Companies * Government
Financial and human resources required at each step:
•Cost incurred in meeting with experts
and institutions.
•Technology up gradation cost
•More investment in R&D on education
by Govt.
•Industrial experts
•Top academicians
•Research scholars
•Govt officials from accrediting bodies.
Financial Resources Human Resources
Leveraging existing government infrastructure :
• Government has huge channels that reach the core of remote villages which
will help us to spread this programme.
• Government has already formulated “sarva shiksha abhiyan”, these
modification if implemented then it would be more fast and effective.
• Government can use its medium for promotions .
• Government can take strict actions against colleges who doesn't meet proper
education level.
Proposed Sources of Funding:
The proposal will cost up to 10 Crores in implementation which will mainly
focus in R&D department, training and counseling and policies upgradation.
Sources are:
• Arranging funds from MNCs as a part of CSR .
• Institutions can invest to develop the education and training model .
Impact of solution
Criteria to measure impact of solution :
Scalability of solution:
• Reach to core of Villages/Districts/Cities.
• Women Empowerment and makes them independent.
• Skills like computer literacy, English proficiency , web and mobile
programming, retail and hospitability .
•Growing interest of students towards
education.
•Quality placement
•Improvement in international QS ranking
of various Indian Universities
•More number of talented graduates.
•Reduction in employment rates.
Qualitative Quantitative
Sustainability of solution:
•The solution so proposed is cost effective and has the potential to reach the masses, thus
in long run own solution is un-obsolete.
•This solutions will ensure that future graduates are employable and thus decrease both
unemployability as well as employment rates.
Appropriate Monitoring Mechanism:
•Introduction of new department for quality check of education and redefining the present
accreditation system.
• Timely inspection of colleges and schools to monitor the level of education and training .
• Committee to ensure judicious use of funds allocated under this scheme.
•
Challenges & Mitigation Factors
Social
•Society is diversified:
• Difficult to aware people the
need of practical
education and Vocational
training.
* Public awareness
programmes to create
awareness.
Economic
•Judicious use of funds
allocated
•Proper accountability and
optimal allotment of funds
Political
•Corruption exists at every
level.
•Political reforms are too
