What is meant by Ideology?
AN IDEOLOGY CAN ALSO BE REFFERED
TO AS A POLITICAL ORIENTATION
AN IDEOLOGY IS ALSO A VISIONARY OR
IMAGINARY THEORIZATION
A IDEOLOGY IS AN INTEGRATED SET OF
ATTITUDES AND BELIEFS OF A NATION
OR GROUP OF PEOPLE
• Ideology is a word that is composed of two Greek words ideo and logos which respectively mean the study or the
science of ideas.
• In modern terms, the ideology of a nation represents and reflects the ideals and aspirations of its people. It also
brings to light their cultural and religious ideas that bind them together as one.
• In a broader view an ideology in the positive sense is a system of beliefs, values, ideas, goals and a body of
knowledge which people consider true, unifying and practicable.
Ideology of Pakistan
 The ideology of Pakistan took shape through an evolutionary process.
 Historical experience provided the base.
 The Hindus and the Muslims were two separate nations with completely
different set of cultural and religious beliefs. Despite living together for
centuries they could not intermingle with each other freely.
 The creation of Pakistan was unique in the sense that it was based on an
ideology which sought its roots from the religion of Islam.
 A democratic India would be worse than a torture cell for the Muslims.
 The Muslims needed a state where they could safeguard their religion and
oppose all ideologies which are against the ideology of Islam.
Meaning and definitions of The Ideology of
Pakistan
Pakistan is an Ideological state, and the ideology of Pakistan is Islamic ideology. Its basic principle being:
“The only sovereign is Allah”.
The ideology of Pakistan is actual implementation of Islamic teachings.
To maintain and arouse the national dignity and struggles for unity among Muslim Ummah and Islamic rule
is, in fact, Ideology of Pakistan.
Two-Nation Theory by Islamic Philosophy in the political and cultural background of Sub-continent is
called the ideology of Pakistan.
The ideology of Pakistan is actually Islamic ideology.
The idea of Muslims, attaining Pakistan was injected in the Ideology of Pakistan.
Development and Evolution of the Ideology of
Pakistan
The ideology of Pakistan took shape through an evolutionary
process which led to the eventual creation of Pakistan. The
process is as:
Historical Experiences with the British and Hindus laid the
foundation bricks and base
Allama Muhammad Iqbal gave the Philosophical Explanation
Quaid-e-Azam translated it into a political reality upon partition
The newly state-born Constituent Assembly passed the ideology
making it a legal sanction
Allama Iqbal’s Role
 Allama Iqbal was among one of those men which are born not in generations but centuries. He was conscious of the
significance of Islam in the lives of Muslims. Owing to his educational background from the west he knew the perfect setup
which would be needed for the Muslims of the subcontinent.
 Address to the Muslim League Session, Allahabad, December 1930. The climax of Iqbal's political career came in 1930 when at
the annual session of All India Muslim League, he boldly stated the Muslim demand for creation of a separate Muslim state
within India. He added:
 The formation of a consolidated North-West Indian Muslim state appears to me to be the final destiny of the Muslims, at least,
of North-West India. In short Iqbal gave the idea that Punjab, Sindh, NWFP and Balochistan should make the basis for the new
to be established Muslim state.
 Iqbal gave the idea of Pakistan. He inspired the Muslims of India to make the demand for a separate homeland. He infact,
prepared the ground for Mr. Jinnah, who finally led the Muslims to the goal of Pakistan.
Quaid-e-Azam’s Role
Quaid-e-Azam played a decisive role in articulating the Muslim demands and pursuing these faced strong opposition
from the Hindus and the British. He started his political career in 1906 by joining the Indian National Congress. He was
elected to the Legislative Council in 1909 and in 1913 he also joined the All India Muslim League (AIML). Owing to the
oppressive and extremist Hindu mindset of Congress he left it in 1920.
His early efforts to promote Hindu-Muslim unity were materialized when THE LUCKNOW PACT (1916) was signed. The
Hindus accepted the Muslim demands:·
• Separate Electorate
• One-third Seats in Central Legislature
• Protection of minority rights
Jinnah believed in the force of Islam as he said that Islam is a dynamic force that can unite the Muslims. It can help to
overcome the present crisis. It's a source of inspiration and guidance providing ethical foundation, a framework, social
order and civilization
Fundamental Concepts and Elements of the
ideology of Pakistan
Following are the main components of the ideology of Pakistan:
1. Kalma and Tauheed:
It means that Allah is the one and alone is the Creator and Lord of every thing. Thus Tauheed is the basic belief of the
ideology of Pakistan.
2. Islamic State:
It means that all the Muslims of the sub-continent need a separate and religiously free state where they can enjoy all
their Islamic rights and abide by Islamic Law.
3. Islamic System of Life:
It means that the Muslims need a separate homeland where they spend all their life by remaining within the
injunctions and teachings of Islam. They can also participate in their cultural and religious affairs freely.
4. Safety from Hindu Domination:
This emphasizes the already known fact that a democratic India is not in any manner tolerable for the Muslims in any
shape or manner. The ideology of Pakistan basically strives to free Muslims from Hindu domination.
Importance of the Ideology of Pakistan
1. Binding Force:
This ideology gave all the Muslims a hope that they could strive for the better of their future. The ideology of Pakistan ensured
that all the Muslims came together.
2. Line of Action:
The ideology of Pakistan gave a new direction to the Muslims. Previously the Muslims did not know what to do. They now had
a common goal which they could unite for and work to achieve.
3. Guide-line for an Islamic System:
This ideology made way for an Islamic system to be introduced and made it possible for all the Islamic principles to be
followed upon. The religiously economic, social and culture could be introduced.
4. Protection of Cultural and Religious Heritage:
This ideology ensures that our traditions are safeguarded. Urdu and Arabic would be promoted through it and cultural norms
and laws would be adhered to.
This ideology persuaded a nation towards a purposeful life.
This ideology keep the nation and the Muslims united
Islamic ideological nations faced no problem in legislation because the basic principles already
existed in the form of laws.
Ideology plays a vital role in national identity. It distinguishes a nation from another nation
Benefits of the Ideology of Pakistan
We are all seated here owing to the success of
the Ideology of Pakistan. So it is our duty to be
thankful and grateful to all those involved who
strived for our cause. Pakistan Zindabad
Thank you for your attention.
