Numerous recent studies illustrate the woeful state of employee engagement, motivation and alignment in corporations across the globe. Engagement, Motivation and Alignment translate directly to measures of productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness. Even employees with the best intentions are ineffective at best, destructive at worst if they’re working on the wrong things instead of producing outcomes that advance corporate strategy.
Successful strategy doesn’t come from defining a great strategy, it comes from deploying and executing a great strategy. Strategy deployment and execution must overcome the powerful force of entropy that produces strategy decay. Strategy decay causes the best strategy to become misunderstood and mis-implemented by your workers.
Join Dan and Evan as they illustrate powerful patterns and practices for maximizing alignment through OKRs, and will share the proven methods for maximizing knowledge-worker motivation and engagement, and share some simple models that demonstrate MASSIVE HARD FINANCIAL BENEFITS produced by mastering adaptive strategy through OKRs.
3 Key Learning Objectives:
- Understand the linkage between employee alignment, motivation, and engagement
- Understand how the above three drive employee and organizational effectiveness
- Understand how OKRs combined with modern organizational leadership practices produce hard financial benefits and competitive advantage

How to Scale a Dojo’s Impact: Real Measures, Coaching Quality, and Team PullCprime
There are a few dimensions to get right before scaling a dojo program. In this webinar, we’ll look at the need for real measures that correlate to impact, the need for quality coaches who bring not only knowledge but experience, and getting to pull-based -- where teams want to come into the dojo rather than being forced -- as the three accelerants to scaling a dojo. We’ll also detail a model we use for scaling once these preconditions are met.
Join us on December 2 for Part 3 of our 3-part webinar series on Enterprise Dojos. David Laribee and Nate Ashford, pioneers of the dojo approach, will describe strategies and tactics for scaling dojos intelligently.
You will learn about:
- What quality of coaching means and why it matters
- Innovating on dojo measurements -- from in-house maturity models to metrics that matter
- Why “pull-based” dojos are more sustainable in impact and generate greater demand in organizations
Enterprise Dojos: Values, Principles, and Cultural PerspectiveCprime
When we talk about dojos there’s a tendency to focus on the mechanical aspects of the model — the workflow, method, short iterations, and immersive learning. Perhaps more important is understanding what models and principles actually make the dojo innovative and successful. In this webinar, our dojo experts will unpack the foundations of the dojo — the underlying models that make it work, the principles that guide our behaviors and choices, and how dojos help shift cultures from fixating on delivery to leveraging learning.
You will learn about:
- Theories and research that make the dojo model work: deliberate practice, spaced repetition, etc.
- What are the values and principles that are common to successful dojos
- How dojos help shift an organization from a culture of delivery to a culture of learning

- How the transition from project to product affects funding models
- Why project-based funding models stifle agility
- The benefits of product-based funding models
An Outcome Measurement Model: Is your Agile Adoption Moving the Needle?Cprime
The Version One Annual State of Agile survey indicates that 94% of organizations are practicing Agile in one way, shape, or form.
But what might this investment yield besides an Agile label? In many cases, it appears that organization leaders cannot produce concrete data to meet this ask, or articulate the gain clearly using measures that count and impact the bottom line.
One solution is to begin with the desired outcomes driving the adoption and identify both leading and lagging indicators to gauge whether the change initiative is moving the needle and impacting the bottom line. This approach has been successful because it creates alignment and accountability.

Creating GREAT OKRs and a great quarterly planning process7Geese
Creating OKRs is one step in the entire cycle of priority and goal planning within an organization. This deck focuses on 5 main aspects of what makes an OKR great:
1. What goes into a great starting criteria to create a single OKR
2. An understanding of what a great OKR is not as it’s important to understand what not to do, to make sure you’re not going into something blind.
3. How great OKRs come from the right metrics or key performance indicators that match your culture.
4. How you can ensure you’re translating tasks into results and planning out supporting projects properly.
5. And how to get an idea of how you plan to assess progress once it’s all over.
Lean Portfolio Strategy Part 2: Shifting from Imitation to Real LPM - The Mov...Cprime
Download the associated webinar: https://www.cprime.com/resource/webinars/lean-portfolio-strategy-part-2-shifting-from-imitation-to-real-lpm-the-move-to-true-value-streams/
Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) is touted as a world-changing paradigm. A shift that promises to boost productivity, time to market, quality, customer satisfaction, revenue, and a host of other vital business metrics. It promises to transform the organization to a leaner, more agile version of itself, primed to innovate effortlessly and outperform its competition at every turn.
Most organizations who have tried to establish LPM find the reality to be more nuanced than that. These companies end up implementing “Imitation LPM” where actions and some process changes may be in place and functioning, but the real promise of LPM- the increased agility and reduced waste- is not occurring.
Real LPM assumes that work is funded by value streams with teams organized around delivery of products and services that are valuable to customers. This is, perhaps, the hardest part of implementing LPM.
In part 1 of this webinar we explored how signs of imitation LPM show up in an organization’s approach to strategy. In this second of our series, we join Michiko Quinones (Jira Align Consultant) and Jean Dahl (General Manager, Scaled Agility) to explore:
- How to organize around value streams
- Real world examples of organizations who have successfully shifted from imitation value streams to true value streams
- The impact to funding and budgeting cycles
From Project to Product: Unlocking Product AgilityCprime
Adherence to time, budget, and scope has been the gold standard measure of project success since the beginning of time. Most times we are exhilarated if we can get even two of those. Now, as the digital world shifts from thinking in fixed-time period projects to ongoing product efforts (with associated teams, markets, and horizons), adherence to time, budget, and scope has little do with the actual success of an initiative.
In this presentation, Anne Steiner, Vice President of Product Agility at Cprime, will cover the challenges and advantages companies and teams unlock when they apply product thinking over project thinking.
We’ll explore topics including:
*Team formation
*Budgeting and planning
*Reducing cycle times in order to fuel continuous product learning.
You’ll be challenged to think beyond traditional project management norms and to elevate the delivery of value as the gold standard for success.

Scaling Product Thinking with SAFe - The Secret Sauce for Meaningful Product ...Cprime
The Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) is the agile methodology of choice for many large enterprises. It promises predictable and frequent delivery in complex environments.
Our experience with organizations that adopt SAFe shows that an organization’s willingness to blend product-thinking, technical agility and a culture of learning is the secret sauce for catapulting the organization from “process excellence” into meaningful product impacts.
In this webinar, we’ll share tried and tested ways of introducing product thinking and engineering practices into SAFe organizations, covering organizational, product, and technical ground.
You'll learn:
- How to establish products as value streams and gently reorganize ARTs over time without sacrificing product community or continuity.
- How to use product stories to engage your teams before and during PI planning in a way that invites collaboration on a healthy blend of continuous discovery and delivery.
- How customer, architectural, and operational learning pave the way for scaling to teams of teams from a DevOps perspective, including patterns and anti-patterns.

SAFe for Marketing – Extending Towards Real Business Agility - Global SAFe Su...Yuval Yeret
SAFe’s home turf is product/systems/applications development. Let’s talk about challenging this comfort zone by applying it in one of the core business functions – Marketing. Why? Because the marketing operating system is being disrupted and the larger the marketing organization the more it struggles to maintain relevancy and impact. More and more marketing organizations are seeing the impact of Agile and want to benefit as well. How should an organization using SAFe in R&D/IT look at Agile in Marketing? Is SAFe the right choice? Does it work “as is”? Are there any changes needed to support this new context? What are some lessons learned from trying this in the field?
Learning Objectives and Key Takeaways:
At some point in your enterprise transformation you should consider applying SAFe outside of Product Development/IT. Marketing is a great candidate for a next Value Stream to implement SAFe in.
Agile Marketing is possible not just for small nimble companies but also for large organizations with hundreds of marketers and several legacy silos. SAFe provides a blueprint for how to achieve this.
Understand the differences in applying SAFe outside of Product Development/IT and how to adjust the Big Picture / Implementation Roadmap to accommodate these differences.
The ideal “Business Agility” state is actually to bring together Marketing, Product Management/Development, Sales into one Value Stream.
This talk was delivered in the global SAFe Summit in DC in October 2018
What are the differences between KPI and OKR frameworks?
OKRs identifies the main objective as well as the key results — the framework and the way to get there. To achieve the objectives identified with OKR, teams must establish measurable actions to take in order to achieve high-level goals. OKRs are often highly ambitious and are designed to align and push the company into full-gear as a cohesive unit, but also give individual contributors autonomy, which encourages innovation on the road to goal achievement.
Optimize Portfolio Performance with Simple Agile Techniques and Jira - Part 1...Cprime
Some organizations spend months or even years attempting to create a workable portfolio management solution – often with little success. So, how do organizations determine if their software portfolio is working? Can your portfolio answer basic questions related to productivity or performance? With Agile Portfolio Management and Jira, organizations can apply simple techniques to create a software portfolio that satisfies organizational needs.
Anthony Crain, Delivery Manager at Blue Agility, presents basic and more advanced agile practices, such as innovation accounting, alignment and Portfolio ROI to achieve what more complex portfolio practices often do not. Crain demonstrates how to harness the power of JIRA to standardize and centralize these practices resulting in more dynamic portfolio management and reporting.
Join us to learn how Software Portfolio Management along with JIRA allows organizations to:
*Maximize the ROI of their technology and IT work
*Identify what work to staff and what work to leave in backlog to a later date
*Determine ROI of individual efforts or entire initiatives when going agile
*Identify which innovations are working, such as adopting agile or using offshore resources

Learn how the right pay strategy creates an ownership mindset! What if your compensation strategy could actually improve the accountability of your workforce? It seems too good to be true but it’s not. High performance companies are already doing it—and so can yours. The trick is to learn how to hold compensation accountable, not just your people.
VisionLink has been helping organizations create accountable rewards plans for over 20 years. We have tested and measured, analyzed and refined. And we have figured what actually works. Now we want to share what our experience has taught us.
According to Training Industry research, 79 percent of training organizations view strategic alignment as the single most important capability they need to develop. Strategic alignment is accelerated when both learning and the business are linked through a common language and a common ground. Learn about a proven business model and multi-dimensional approach built over 20 years and more than 150 client projects. Through several table-top and peer-to-peer activities, enhance your ability to quickly develop critical strategic alignment, and walk away with practices and tools to use immediately in your organization.
Speaker: Brian Blecke, Actio Learning
In reaction to the current climate, many organisations have pushed pause on workplace learning programmes. But in reality, we cannot afford to put capability building on hold. Businesses are facing company-wide transformations or at a very minimum, re-skilling at business unit level in order to rebound and thrive in ever-changing markets.
Research shows that companies with effective capability-building programmes as an integral part of business transformation projects have higher rates of success than companies without. So how do you equip your marketing, sales and product management teams to maximise their commercial capabilities for a sustainable competitive advantage?
What if you asked your top four employees to articulate the vision and purpose of your company? Could they do it? What about its business model and strategy? How about explaining their roles and the outcomes for which they have stewardship?
Chances are even your best people would struggle with that exercise. And if they have a hard time, imagine what that implies about the rest of your team.
Those simple questions reveal the level of line of sight you have in your business. And without line of sight, it is virtually impossible to have an engaged workforce.
With that in mind, VisionLink discusses the important role of employee alignment in creating sustained success in all aspects of talent management and performance—and how to create a pay strategy that reinforces the vision and mindset you want your employees to have.

Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!
