2. TEXTILE INDUSTRY
• India Textile Industry is second largest textile industries in
the world
• Scenario started changing after the economic LPG (model)
of Indian economy in 1991
• India textile industry largely depends upon the textile
manufacturing and export
• It also plays a major role in the economy of the country
• The textile industry of India also contributes nearly 14% of
the total industrial production of the country
• India textile industry employs over 35million people
• It not only generates jobs in its own industry, but also open
up scopes for the other ancillary sectors

4. IMPACT OF LIBERALIZATION
• The economic liberalization of Indian economy in the early 1990s
led to stupendous growth of this Indian industry.
• The Indian textile industry, until the economic liberalization of
Indian economy was predominantly an unorganized industry.
• The global textiles trade has been subject to major restructuring in
recent years due to the phase out of quota restrictions under the
Agreement on Textiles and Clothing (ATC).
• It finds that impacts were extensive, both directly in terms of
clothing and textiles imports in the liberalized markets and
indirectly within the supply chain of the textile sector.
• Positive performance needs to be seen in the context of the
remaining restrictions on Chinese exports to India’s two key
clothing markets – EU and the United States – and the fall in Indian
exports in both textiles and clothing in the years immediately prior
to liberalization.

5. IMPACT OF PRIVATIZATION
• Privatization refers to the participation of private entities in
businesses and services and transfer of ownership from the public
sector (or government) to the private sector either to a business that
operates for a profit or to a non profit organization.
• There was no major impact of privatization on the Textile Industry
as the textile industry from ages was already Privatized.
• The government was not in any which ways connected to the
Textile industry in India.
• Introduction of Privatization didn’t impact the Textile Industry.

6. IMPACT OF GLOBALIZATION
• The process of globalization and Indian textile industry
development was the effect of rapid acceptance of 'open market'
policy by the developing countries
• Globalization of the Indian textile industry has also facilitated
introduction of modern and efficient manufacturing machineries
and techniques in the Indian textile sector
• Duty free import of specified trimmings, embellishment etc
shall be available @ 3% on exports of polyester made-ups in
line with the facility available to sectors like textiles & leather.
• It promoted export of products such as micro cloth, which has
become popular in home textiles

7. CONCLUSION
• There was a major impact of liberalisation and globalisation.
• The liberalisation improved the processes of import and export and
this time proved to be a transition period for our country.
• Globalisation also opened the market for global players
• This made global products available in the Indian market.
• The LPG model brought many positive impacts on the Textile
Industry in India.
