Imaginative Landscape Essays
Writing an essay on the topic of "Imaginative Landscape Essays" can be both challenging and
rewarding. The difficulty lies in navigating the intricate balance between creativity and analytical
exploration. The subject demands a deep understanding of the interplay between imagination
and the physical environment, requiring a nuanced approach to convey complex ideas effectively.
Crafting such an essay involves delving into the realms of literature, psychology, and philosophy,
exploring how individuals perceive and connect with the landscapes around them. The challenge
arises in articulating these abstract concepts in a coherent and engaging manner. One must
skillfully weave together vivid descriptions of imaginary landscapes with insightful analysis,
drawing on a diverse range of sources to substantiate arguments.
Moreover, the essay requires a delicate blend of personal reflection and academic rigor.
Balancing subjective experiences with scholarly perspectives demands finesse, as the writer must
avoid veering into overly subjective or detached territory. Striking the right tone is crucial to
convey the emotional resonance of imaginative landscapes while maintaining an intellectually
rigorous discourse.
The research process is another facet that adds to the complexity. While traditional sources may
provide a foundation, delving into the works of authors, artists, and thinkers who have explored
the topic in-depth is essential. This involves a meticulous examination of literature, art, and
theoretical frameworks, requiring a discerning eye to extract relevant insights and integrate them
seamlessly into the narrative.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Imaginative Landscape Essays" is a formidable task that
demands a synthesis of creativity and analytical prowess. It entails traversing the intricate terrain
of imagination and its intersection with the physical world, all while maintaining a scholarly and
engaging discourse.

Arkansas Caverns
Environmental issues, here in Arkansas, are relatively scarce when it comes to
pollution and other factors. Arkansans tend to protect their land, below the ground
and above sea level. For example, investigate the Blanchard Springs Caverns. With
jagged rocks, sharp and pointed structures, low temperatures, and high humidity, these
caverns are a joy to see. Environmentally, these caverns are beautifully maintained.
(Galiano). Caves are underground, naturally changing due to many environmental
factors. However, personal touching or harming of any part of the cavern is strictly
prohibited. As a result, the cave only benefits or is obstructed by natural
environmental changes, not by humans. All of this is said to say this: We, as

In Mount Judea, Arkansas, there lies a hog farm very close to the historic Buffalo
River, known for its natural beauty and amazing sightseeing. On the contrast,
immense amounts of green algae have been found in its water in the past few
years. As a result, suspicions have been expected with the possibility of the hog
manure ponds leaking into the Buffalo River. This is an enormous environmental
problem, as endangering a natural, free flowing river is constrained in any aspect.
The Big Creek Research and Extension Team (BCRET) from the University of
Arkansas have recently drilled deep into these manure ponds in search of a leak
and have accomplished their goal. (TFW). Around 120 feet below, there lies a wet
place of soil that could possibility be the cause of green algae found in the nearby
river. Individuals notice how big of a problem this can become. Three women, in
fact, have appealed to constrain the amount of manure spread in the nearby fields
surrounding the Buffalo River. (TFW). People love to see natural beauty, which is
what the Buffalo River provides. Instead, they have to burden with the fact of green
algae. Green algae can affect a body of water in many ways, including the
contamination of turning these
Chariot Tactics
For centuries, chariots have been a useful resource in early civilizations. It is
defined as a two wheeled vehicle pulled behind horses to travel from one place to
another. The development of a chariot originated in Mesopotamia before 3000 B.C.
and it started to receive widespread attention. During this civilization, hill dwellers
from north of Mesopotamiawere sophisticated people because they created the chariot
with good intentions. However, the use of chariots declined rapidly when new tactics
were developed for warlike purposes. Although there are several deficiencies in
chariots, it largely influenced ancient warfare politically, economically and socially.
Chariots served as a great tool in a country. The purpose of military operations is to
ensure the safety of all citizens on a regular basis. When chariots were first
introduced, people believed this machine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it is true that chariots protect people from danger, it also helped them seek
for employment. Life gradually improved when people learned and discovered
how to build a light maneuverable vehicle of war that could be drawn by a team of
horses at great speed (pg.134 135). The promotion of a chariot received positive
feedback from people because they found it fascinating. Many countries wanted
chariots in their possession simultaneously, so this created job opportunities for
people to produce them. It is very important for a person to have a job because they
can earn money to support themselves and their family. According to Humphrey
(2006), chariot makers used materials such as a hard, dense wood, little prone to
cracking, for the hub: a straight, tough, inflexible timber for the spokes; and a
straight grained, easily bent timber for the felloe (pg.135). They would acquire
different pieces of wood, heat them up in a specific shape, and then let them dry for
several hours. Therefore, it is not easy because it requires a lot of

Taobao s Success 5 problem was solved by eBay Each, but without doubt, eBay Each
lost its advantage in credit transaction.
Third, eBay Each used advertisement blocking tactics to fight Taobao. In 2003, the
biggest three portal in China (Sohu, Sina, 163) made a deal with e Bay that they
would never use Taobao s advertisement. To fix this problem, Taobao use a lot of
traditional medium such as newspaper, TV or subway stops, bus, road advertising.
Moreover, Taobao also made a co operation with Yahoo, using Yahoo s search bid,
investing 2 million keywords. Then Taobao increased the keywords to 3 million, and
the hits up to 6million in one day. That made Taobao beyond its opponent in two key
indicators, accounting for the initiative in future competition. Furthermore, another
difference in Taobao s advertisements, their membership in the trading process could
feel lively culture of family. Fourth, eBay Each and Taobao had a significant
understianding gap in market positioning. EBay Each have their global strategy and
want to do business with the people who are 30 40years old. While Taobao s
strategy is localization, and its target population was also younger than its
counterpart. Last but not least, Taobao encouraged their buyer and seller makes

Inflammatory Bowel Disorder Essay
Overall Scientific premise: Inflammatory bowel disorder (IBD) affects an
estimated 1 1.3 million people in the US alone, according to the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC). Although immune intolerance in the gut is
considered one of the factors driving disease progression, the origins of IBD remain
unknown. Enteric infections play a major role and could potentially be an
underlying cause of IBD (PMID:15256979). Staphylococcus aureus, an ESKAPE
pathogen, one of the major causes of foodborne enteric infections. Nevertheless,
there is a considerable knowledge gap as to how S. aureus can cause dysregulation
and inflammation at enteric mucosal surfaces that could lead to IBD. Previous
studies along these lines led to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To address this issue, we will be using NARSA (Nebraska Transposon Mutant
library) library consisting of single transposon insertion mutants covering almost 90%
of S. aureus USA 300 genome. We will use a translational reporter line of C. elegans,
in which HLH 30 has a GFP tag to monitor nuclear accumulation. Identification of the
S. aureus genes involved in HLH 30 activation will allow us to pinpoint the PAMP
/DAMP which is recognized by the host. Achieving this aim will allow us to
manipulate this conserved innate signaling pathway and further our fundamental
understanding of how the host detects pathogen.
Scientific Premise for Specific Aim 2 Identification of the acetylcholine receptors
in immune cells and intestinal epithelial cells involved in the activation of TFEB. A
recent screen in C. elegans to determine the receptor involved in the detection of a
pathogenic signal activating HLH 30 led to the identification of two G protein
linked acetylcholine receptors (GARs) GAR 2 and GAR 3. GAR 2 and GAR 3 are
homologous to muscarinic acetylcholine receptors (mAChRs). RNA i experiments in
C. elegans showed that GAR 2 and GAR 3 expressed in the intestine are critical in
activating HLH 30. From this observation, we hypothesized that TFEB activation in
mammals could also involve acetylcholine receptors AChRs. Acetylcholine
suppresses the immune system by limiting the production of pro inflammatory
cytokines according to previous studies.
Masonry Is Damaired Research Paper
Signs Your Home s Masonry Is Damaged And How It s Repaired If you live in an
older brick house that s showing its age through wear on the bricks and mortar, it
could be time to have masonry repairs done to protect your home. Damaged bricks
and mortar allow water to seep into the softer insides of the bricks and cause
damage that leads to cracking and further decay. Here are some signs your home
may need masonry repairs and how they might be done. Signs Of Masonry
Damage A primary cause of masonry damage is from water. The outside of the
bricks are hard and resist water, but the inside can soak it up like a sponge. When
water freezes in winter the bricks and mortar can crack. Small chunks of mortar may
fall out of the joints and parts of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wait until the rain stops and then examine the bricks. If they are darker in some
places, it s probably because the bricks or mortar soaked up water. This is another
sign repairs are needed since water can do so much damage when it seeps into the
bricks. Process Of Repairing The Damage The first step is to determine the type of
mortar present in the joints. An older home may have a lime based mortar rather
than cement. If there s a question about the composition of the mortar, a small
sample is taken to be analyzed. It s important to choose a similar material so all the
joints have the same physical qualities and respond the same way to shifts in
temperature. The new mortar is also matched for color as best possible. If only
part of a wall is being repaired, then the repaired portion will be obvious if the new
mortar is a different color. When work begins, the old mortar is scraped out. This
might be done with a power tool, but it s often done by hand to avoid damaging the
bricks. After dust is cleared away, the new mortar is placed in the joints a layer at a
time and allowed to dry. It might be necessary to mist the joints frequently to keep
the mortar from drying out too soon. Once the new mortar is in place, the surface
might be scratched so it matches the rougher texture the old mortar has due to weather

Date The early history of America begins with the journey of Christopher Columbus
in 1492, when he first discovered the lands of America along with the residing few
Native people. These indigenous American Indians were a vital component of the
society of the United States.
Soon after 1600, the colonial culture began to start with the arrival of the European
colonists from England, Spain, and France. The Spanish established their settlements
in Florida, while French established themselves along the Mississippi River. Around
1770, there were about thirteen colonies established by the British people, which
contained about two and a half million people. The British dominated the U.S.
territories during the earlier days, since they were successful in driving the French
out of North America .
The 13 colonies that were formed united in a Congress, which led to armed conflict in
1775, and subsequently in 1776, the Congress adopted the Declaration of
Independence, which was drafted by Thomas Jefferson. He mentioned that, all men in
these territories are equal, and thus, he found a new nation, the United States of
America.
George Washington had won the Revolutionary war through large scale military and
financial support from France, and this resulted into the peace treaty of 1783, which
gave the nation most of the land that was in the east of the Mississippi River. There
was a convention called in Philadelphia in 1787, for
Effects Of Ww1 On Australian Economy
Many people remained in Australia during the First World War; they faced
challenges but also came across new experiences. People of all ages were
contributing in their own way to help the troops and other people still living in the
country, the cost of living rose, and the Australian home front seemed to be
supportive of the war that was taking place.
The First World War had resulted in many Australian men going to war to fight on
behalf of Australia. This took a toll on the Australian economy. World War 1 affected
the financial and general powers of the Commonwealth and economic growth (The
First World War Impact on Australian Economy, 2015). It also had long and short
term effects on protection, trade and total debt for Australia (The First World War
Impact on Australian Economy, 2015). The war also caused Australia to cut trading
links with certain countries including Germany and Austria Hungary (Lewis, n.d.).
The Australian Government also helped Britain s war effort by making sure that
wool and meat sent to them, made it there (Lewis, n.d.). War did create protection for
Australian industries, which meant there was no more competition (Lewis, n.d.). ...

Ethnic Makeup Of Los Angeles
Since 1965 many people have immigrated to the greater Los Angeles area than
anywhere within the United States. These immigrants have rapidly and profoundly
transformed the city s ethnic makeup and spared heated debate over their impact on
the region. Unfortunately within many areas of Los Angeles there are those who
have been pushed out of their homes, which have been passed through generations of
ethnic minorities in other areas due to gentrification. These gentrified areas have
been renovated by the city to allow for a much more comfortable living experience.
One specific way this has happened is by allowing an ease of access to mainstream
markets that provide necessary measures for their lifestyle. However those of this
community are not the only communities that wish to adhere to this lifestyle. Many
Angelinos, although living within a community that is seen as poor and unhealthy,
actually care about the food that they put within their bodies. The resources that are
readily available in the gentrified location in Los Angeles, but not to other parts force
them to eat from local markets and convenience stores close where the quality is
unhealthy. Organic, non gmo, and foods that do not contain MSG are solely
confined to stores within areas where people which money has moved to. These
markets consist of mainstream grocers, grocery stores where there is an availability
of fresh foods, which can support a healthy diet on a regular basis. It is not an issue

The Biased Media and Its Effects on American Interest...
The Biased Media and Its Effects on American Interest Towards Politics In
America we value the freedom of the press. The press is the one place where most
Americans go to get educated on issues facing their community, state, and most of
all nation. Everyone knows that the media plays a major role in Americans lives;
however their role of gatekeeper is not completely understood. The press decides
which issues to report and how to report them. In order to improve the nation and
world, the media should present their unbiased findings to allow people to make up
their own minds. However, this is not the case. The media often shows its bias. Their
widespread exposure enables them to communicate their ideas to the public,

I think that many Americans do not even know their Senators or House
Representatives name. On the other hand, it would be very difficult to find
someone who does not know anything about the recent presidential election.
Everyone knows about the Florida ballot disputes only because the media has
placed so much emphasis on them. There is so much media coverage in politics
today that in order to be elected one must be appealing to the public. Years ago the
only way people could find out about candidates and the issues they stood for was
by reading a newspaper or listening to the radio. Today, anyone can turn on the
television or go to a web site on the Internet and see the candidates themselves
talking about their issues. With almost all American homes having at least one
television, a candidate must possess a good personality, plans and ideas. Now,
more than ever Americans place excessive importance on appearance. This means
that a candidate has to appear successfully, competent and inspire confidence.
When was the last time a president was elected based on appearances? It was
probably in the 1800 s with the election of Abe Lincoln. History shows what a great
president he was. It sounds very superficial, but unfortunately this is true of our
society. Candidates have to appeal to the public as much as possible, and appear
comfortable on camera. However a candidate s appearance is not the only thing that
plays a major role in getting them elected. In 1984,

Life Span Perspective Analysis
The number of different theories used practiced in social work can be
overwhelming. At first glance, the various approaches bleed together and seem too
similar to decipher one from the next. But, after an in depth study of each model, the
differences become evident. Two of the approaches that especially stand out are the
Life Span Perspective and the Strengths Perspective. The Life Span Perspective
draws from multiple theories to emphasize growth and change over a lifetime. The
Strengths Perspective differs from other social worktheories by focusing on the
positive characteristics of a client and their environment. The Life Span
Perspective evaluates a person over their entire lifecycle by evaluating their social,
psychodynamic, cognitive, moral, spiritual and biological change and growth.
Every different experience from a younger stage affects that person through the rest
of her lifespan. While each person is unique, this perspective gives us a framework
of the life course and gives us ideas of what to expect from one stage to the next.
Because this viewpoint draws from Positivist and Developmental theories, it looks
for patterns and similarities. While this can be helpful, it fails to acknowledge
individual resilience and the power... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This perspective spotlights the effect that early childhood trauma can have on a
person and explains why therapists spend so much time inquiring after painful
experiences of the past. Having a deeper understanding of child development can
help a social worker assist an adult client who deal with a problem stemming from
an earlier stage of life. This perspective would be especially useful in a mezzo or
macro environment, where trends and predictions can help shape
Closing the Gender Gap in Agriculture
Closing the gender gap in agriculture is a critical component of improving lives and
reducing hunger in developing countries. If female farmers had the same access to
resources as males do, they could increase the yields on their farms by 20 30
percent. This could raise the total agricultural output in developing countries by 2.5
4 percent, which could then reduce the number of food insecure people by 12 17
percent. (FAO, 2011) Women in developing countries lack access to productive
resources and opportunities such as land, livestock, labor education financial services
and technology, which leaves women unable to participate in fair rural labor markets.
This genderdiscrimination harms the ability of women in rural communities to
support themselves and their families and decreases the efficiency of the work they
do, leaving them unable to find time to engage in productive activities outside of
food production and preparation. One in eight people in the world are suffering from
chronic hunger and sixty percent of the world s hungry are female. There are
approximately 168.4 million more women than men who are regularly not getting
enough food to lead an active life. Though the number of hungry is 17 percent lower
than the total number of undernourished reported in 1990 92, there are significant
differences is the amount of improvement among regions. Of the 842 million people
suffering from hunger, 827 million live in developing countries. One in three children

He also acted as an interpreter and a guide to help make the English more
comfortable around the indigenous people (). Without Squanto s help, the Pilgrims
would probably have had severe famine over the next year, and would have lived in
constant fear of their indian neighbors (Johnson p.2); the English could not have
survived without the knowledge that Squanto had given them. However, the friendly
side of Squanto is traditionally the only one taught to the American public, in which
he is portrayed as an extremely friendly Native American who devoted much of his
time and effort to helping the European settlers adapt to their newly acquired land. It
is true that Squanto was a great help to the English settlers, however many modern
texts, articles, and essays concerning Squanto neglect to include his betrayal of many
Native American tribes in what is now Connecticut and Long Island(Vine p. 201 ).
Many elementary educated students are led to believe that Squanto simply saved the
newcomers from starvation В… and [taught] the Pilgrims how to survive (David p.

p.2) on them if they did not do what they were told. He also provided the English

Informative Essay On Sled Dogs
Samoyeds, Huskies and Malamutes are all breeds of sled dogs. They are most
commonly used to pull heavy loads. These dogs must be built well and have a lot
of stamina in order to pull the load. First, I will tell you about Samoyeds, then
Huskies, and lastly Malamutes. Samoyeds are fluffy white dogs that live about 12 to
13 years. They normally grow up to 32 to 55 lbs. in weight and 19 to 24 inches tall.
How do you take care of Samoyeds? Samoyeds are pretty easy to take care of, as they
are quite smart and not as hard to train as teeny tiny dogs. The younger the
Samoyed, the less it eats and vice versa. You should never allow a grown Samoyed to
become overweight, otherwise the dog will be sad. The adaptability of this particular
dog is great, it will adapt well to most things. The friendliness of this dog is amazing,
as it has an all around amazing personality. On the contrary to popular belief,
however, it is not easy to groom, and this dog will gain weight easily if you do not
feed it correctly. Overall, this dog is pretty simple and is probably a great use as a

Self-Determination in the Basque Country Essay examples
Self Determination in the Basque Country
The Basques, settled on the Franco Spanish border, are a people who do not have a
country that exists as an entity of its own. They are not recognized internationally.
Their borders are not respected, and their culture is repressed. Thus the history of the
Basque Country is one of contentious protest against imposed conditions, unremitting
effort in defense of its identity and a relentless search for a means of democratizing
public life. They have not been able to practice or pursue the right to self
determination as stated in the international covenants on human rights (above) and the
Universal Declaration of the Rights of the Peoples from Algeria, July 4th, 1976, that,

Nevertheless, the number of individuals who use it daily or at least have a working

Although the language is slowly being reintroduced to communities, repression
continues because they do not enjoy any political unity, but rather an excess of
political institutions and functions. Therefore, the Basques are deeply dissatisfied
with both their lack of territorial unity and the inferior status of their language, as
well as frustrated by the lack of a more participatory democracy. It is said that, The
Basques on either side of the Franco Spanish border vote in elections for no fewer
than a dozen different institutions, (Astrain 6). They want to maintain their cultural
integrity and be able to decide their own future, but this is increasingly difficult when
there is no cohesion. Furthermore, the Basque Country has never been taken into

Predatory Lenders And Its Effects On Lower Income Areas
Predatory lenders are organizations, which offer loans with high interest rates to
those who are in need of fast money, usually for an emergency. Originally,
predatory lenders operated as loan sharks, but now they operate as payday loan
offices, and car tile loaners, having found a niche market, of people who are both
desperate for quick cash and have stable paying jobs, and are willing to accept
paying flat fees subtracted from their loantotal in exchange for quick cash. Loans
such as Payday Loans and Car title loans operate by preying on those who have
nowhere else to go. Predatory lendingpractices have had a predominately negative
effect on lower income communities, forcing many families living in these
communities to go into deeper... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Payday Loan stores offer simple fast money, in exchange for a postdated check,
which will be cashed in following the borrower s next payday, all at the cost of
paying a few fees, with the added bonus of not requiring a credit score, and said
loans not appearing on credit checks. It is for these reasons that many flock to
Payday loan practices, since they offer an alternative method for acquiring loan,
without dealing banks, which are distrusted by many living in low income areas.
After the financial crisis of 2008, many people in these areas began distrusting banks
due to the United States financial collapse in 2008.
Cost of the loans
On average, Payday loans generally cost people up to three times the original value
of the loan, and they generally end up driving most people into deeper debt. Unlike
loans through one s local bank, payday loan practices are mostly unregulated and
have the freedom to issue loans with higher than average annual interest rates,
allowing payday loan practices issue loans with annual interest rates at three
hundred percent, plus additional fees. Michael Stegman a writer for (insert) writes
about the fee structure for paday loans as being Fees charged on payday loans
generally range from $15 to $30 on each $100 advanced. Thus, a typical example
would be that in exchange for a $300 advance until the next payday, the borrower
writes a postdated check for $300 and receives $255 in cash the lender taking a $45
fee off the top (174).
What Does History And Culture Of A Civilization Shape
Its...
Fashion and celebrity, as they are today, are often seen as the end product of a long
historical process of industrialisation and democratisation. How useful is it to see
them in this historical perspective? What does it help to explain? Your answer should
discuss concrete examples.
Introduction
Throughout the long expansion of human history, local fashion and clothing have
always been a good indicator that reflects historical, political and economical
forces within a society. Varies historical periods will have corresponding fashion
and style to represent their unique value and culture. Multiple looks with a variety
of stylistic influences are stripped from their historical contexts and become part of
a large fashion influenced process (Kaiser, 1990). Thus, our modern day fashion is
indeed an end product of series of historical progression. This essay will aim to
examine how does history and culture of a civilization shape its unique fashion
styling and influence modern day fashion by using China as an example and explore
the variances in its fashion development throughout five thousand years of rich
Chinese history.
Over the past five thousand years of Chinese history, fashion trend in China has
experienced great changes in most of Chinese dynasties and each of those historical
periods are able to distinguish itself among others while learn and borrow from the
previous dynasty and develope continuously generation after generation. Those

Analysis of Mystic Monk Coffee Case Essay
Analysis of Mystic Monk Coffee
1. Executive Summary
As the Prior of the Carmelite Order of monks in Clark, Father Daniel Mary has
established a future direction for the Carmelite Monks of Wyoming. He has a clear
vision that he wants to expand the monastery by buying a 500 acre ranch, which can
enable to build a Gothic church, a convent for Carmelite nuns, a retreat center for lay
visitors, and a hermitage including 30 monks. Father Daniel Mary cannot make the
vision come true unless he can collect enough money to pay for the $8.9 million
listing price of that ranch. In this circumstance, the vision for Mystic Monk Coffee
(MMC) is to sell more coffee to fund the Carmelite Monks of Wyoming. Therefore,

One part is to purchase $35,000 for a larger roaster. Let s assume that monks
worked eight hours a day, and then this new roaster can help them to raise
production by 500 pounds per day (130*8 540=500). The other part is to put
wholesale sales churches and local coffee shops. MMC s strategy is a money maker
because it has a competitive advantage. It focuses on the niche market the U.S.
Catholic population who drinks coffee and wishes to support the monastery s
mission. In the U.S., this population is over 69 million. Consequently, this business
has a good potential to provide profit.
However, MMC needs to improve its advertising strategy to increase brand
awareness. Currently, it only uses its website to place its orders and customers can
only notice this brand from word of mouth or some affiliate websites. MMC
should use social media like Facebook or Twitter to advertize its products. It can
also cooperate with other Carmelite churches or groceries to distribute its coffee
packages. This is because over 133.5 million (150 million*89%=133.5 million)
coffee drinkers in the United States brew their own coffee at home. And among
them, about 30 million coffee drinkers prefer premium quality specialty coffees.
MMC provides quality coffee that will attract these loyal coffee consumers, who are
more willing to pay more to buy coffee made by high quality fair trade and organic
Arabica beans.

The Effects Of Risk Management On Health Care
Organizations
In the context of risk management, there are several ways that Failure Mode and
Effects Analysis can be used to improve processes in health care organizations.
According to Stanley Davis and colleagues, documenting and analyzing potential
risks proactively is essential for improving patient safety (Davis, et al., n.d.). The
article states that Failure Mode and Effects Analysis(FMEA) is used prospectively to
identify the possible system failures, and to fix the problems to make the system
more robust before an adverse event actually occurs (Davis, et al., n.d.). In a study
conducted by G Bonfant and colleagues (2010), FMEA was used for chronic
hemodialysis outpatients. The authors recorded phases and activities, listed activity
related failure modes and effects, described control measures, assigned severity,
occurrence and detection scores for each failure mode and calculated the riskpriority
numbers (RPNs) by multiplying the 3 scores (Bonfant, et al., 2010). The authors
(2010) also analyzed failure mode causes, made recommendations, and planned new
control measures. Their results showed that the failure modes with the highest RPN
was from communication, and organizing problems (Bonfant, et al., 2010). They
(2010) created two tools to fix the communication flow, including dialysis agenda
software, and nursing datasheets. In addition, the authors scheduled nephrological
examinations, and changed medical and nursing organization, and this resulted in a
decrease in RPN value

The Medieval Church and Dante s Inferno
Some people think that the medieval churches view on sin, redemption, heaven and
hell was very complex, but actually the churches views were straight and to the
point. I will discuss with you what sin, redemption, heaven and hell were to the
medieval churches and I will also share some examples in the story that will help you
better understand The Inferno and the medieval churches views.
Let s begin with sin. A sin was said to be a deliberate and purposeful violation of the
will of God. The medieval churches thought that sin was also a failure to live up to
external standards of conduct and the violation of taboos, laws or moral codes (
Christianity ). Obeying God was extremely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Paola and Francesca were very much in love with each other; however, Francesca
was married to someone else. The problem was that God did not want the two of
them to be together, he did not bless their relationship because God does not bless
adultery. Adultery made God very angry if it was committed. Paola and Francesca
decided to stay together anyway even if God didn t approve of their relationship
with one another. Their sin was considered to be the unlawful sin of love. The sin
was said to be unlawful because adultery not only made God made but it was also
against the law to have an affair. Even though they still had each other, they lost God
because of their choice to remain together. In the end they both went to hell instead of
heaven.
After a Christian had sinned that person had the opportunity to be redeemed for
their sin. Redemption is actually very clear and easy to define. When a Christian
sinned and wanted God s forgiveness they had to go before God, by praying to him,
and ask him to cleanse them and forgive them of their sin. When God hears the
person asking for forgiveness, God will answer their cry to him and cleanse them.
When God cleanses a person it is almost like the sin was never committed in the first
place. When God sent his son Jesus into the world he told Jesus that he would

The Importance Of Employee Uniforms
Introduction Have you ever wondered why companies make their employees wear
a specific uniform or wear a specific style of pant and shirt? Well, there are many
reasons why; one, the company may use their uniform as part of their organization s
colors. This allows the employee to feel they are part of the organization and it
allows the consumer to identify a company purely from the colors on a uniform. Just
within the past year, a sitcom television show called Superstore. Those who watch
this sitcom, quickly realizes how those who wrote the scripts and chose the actors

physical appearance, such as piercings, tattoos, and hair styles are all ways others
associate them as a good or bad person, and clothing is no exception. Whether it is in
a business setting, a restaurant, or even a doctor s office, a person s perception
towards another is determined by initial contact. Despite a single office or profession;
employers need to consider a dress code to ensure the safety of all employees.
Moreover, some employees do not direct a dress code as a way to save operational
costs, while some provide the employees with a shirtand the employee must wear a
specific type and color of pant. Sure, the dress code for employees can be
unattractive, however, the employer is not paying the person to look good or seek a
partner. Employers need to explain the reason the companies uniforms are designed

Life Of The Old House
I. M. Pei never lived there. But relatives of the renowned architect are clinging to the
hope that his fame will help them save the old house that stands as the last reminder
of the family s heyday in turn of the century Shanghai.
To make way for a giant greenbelt, the city is planning to flatten the mansion that Pei
s great uncle bought in 1911. Despite its designation for historic preservation and its
connection to the prominent Shanghai family that produced the architect, the house
remains in the path of the wrecking ball.
Death sentences like this are slapped on older homes throughout China. As part of its
urban renewal, Shanghai has been going through a building boom. New highways,
high rises, even parkland and open spaces have replaced historic homes that graced
this legendary port city. Few owners have the power to resist.
Most of Pei s family now lives overseas. The only ones left are either too old to do
anything about the possible demolition or too young to have any pull.
Interviewed by phone from his home in New York, the 83 year old Pei would say
only that he left China nearly seven decades ago, doesn t remember his great uncle s
house and doesn t know enough about the situation to help.
The family here, which spells its name Bei, still hopes that his fame will make a
difference. Most Shanghai residents associate the house with Pei, whose works
include the Bank of China building in Hong Kong, the medical center being built at
UCLA and the glass pyramid in

Sound waves through different mediums
The velocity of a sound wave is affected by two properties of matter: the elastic
properties and density. The relationship is described by the following equation.
Where: Cij is the elastic properties and p is the density.
Elastic Properties
The speed of sound is also different for different types of solids, liquids, and gases.
One of the reasons for this is that the elastic properties are different for different
materials. Elastic properties relate to the tendency of a material to maintain its
shape and not deform when a force is applied to it. A material such as steel will
experience a smaller deformation than rubber when a force is applied to the
materials. Steel is a rigid material while rubber deforms easily and is a more flexible
material.
The phase of matter has a large impact upon the elastic properties of a medium. In
general, the bond strength between particles is strongest in solid materials and is
weakest in the gaseous state. As a result, sound waves travel faster in solids than in
liquids, and faster in liquids than in gasses. While the density of a medium also
affects the speed of sound, the elastic properties have a greater influence on the wave
speed.
Density
The density of a medium is the second factor that affects the speed of sound. Density
describes the mass of a substance per volume. A substance that is more dense per
volume has more mass per volume.
Sounds travels even

Walmart s Core Competency
Wal Mart core competency
The core competency of a company is viewed as a section or field where a
company excels most as compared to the competition in the same area of
specialization. These core competencies are seen to be extremely hard for the
competitors to copy hence giving the company the possibility of separating or
differentiating itself from the others. A unique observation about the core
competency is that it cuts across most of the services, products as well as the market
borders of the company (Investopedia, 2013).
Wal Mart has had two major core competencies against which it pegs its competitive
advantage over the other players within the chain store business; price and logistics.
The price factor stands out when one makes the decision to shop at Wal Mart since
they set prices lower than their competitors hence creating a large customer base.
The price advantage they have comes from the fact that they are able to generate
extremely large sales volumes hence being able to make profit and sustain running
costs at comparatively lower profit margins as compared to competition. This is
maintained at Wal Mart since the competition would require massive scales to
replicate this a fact that is hard to achieve (Expert Program Management, 2013).
Wal Mart also has the core competency in terms of a superior logistics system.
Despite being one of the largest global retailers that is located in various parts of the
world, Wal Mart operates with a state of the art
Analysis Of Michael Billig s Theory On Banal Nationalism...
The Hmong are known to have tightly knitted communities that are created through
ties of kinship in a clan based society. This sense of kinship is essential as a catalyst
for the Hmong in developing and producing a strong sense of nationalism despite the
fact that they do not have a recognized political state or homeland. This is especially
important as the Hmong population has been dispersed to all parts of the world
following their involvement in a multitude of geopolitical struggles. Despite having a
scattered global population, the Hmong are continuously finding ways to remain
distinct and as a unified people, especially here in the United States. The Hmong
create and reproduce a sense of nationalism despite facing cultural decline and
having relatively separated communities built around different urban centers across
the United States. Additionally, this research will discuss how the sense of
nationalism can be a way for the Hmong to move forward despite facing cultural
decline. In this research, these elements will be explained and explored through
Michael Billig s theory on banal nationalism (Billig, 1995). Nationalism is most
often seen as a sudden spark of patriotism or strong feelings of loyalty and
appreciation to a nationstate after some sort of triggering event. Some of the most
recognizable moments in United States history that have sparked widespread
nationalism in its citizens include the Sandy Hook shooting, the bombing of the
World Trade center, and the

It clearly spells out that assessment aims to point out strengths and weaknesses which
then will serve as a basis in improving academic instruction and capabilities both by
the students and teachers. In this same vein, this study aims to discover if more
frequent assessment will result to better achievement in Mathematics. The foundation
of authentic assessment methodologies in Mathematics revolves around evaluating
students ability to apply what they have learned in Mathematics to a real world
context. The purpose of education is to develop productive citizens proficient and
capable of doing meaningful tasks in the real world. Authentic assessment is
anchored on the theory of constructivism. This theory emphasizes that learning
occurs when learners are actively involved in a process of meaning and knowledge
construction (Burke, 1999). Constructivist teaching provides authentic activities and
is situated in a real world environment. The learning and assessment situations,
environments, skills, content and tasks are relevant, realistic, authentic and represent
the natural complexities of the real world . Likewise, primary sources of data are

US citizens in its beautiful tropic landscape. In this paper I will explain the important
aspects of the Puerto Rican government, the people, and the lovely food.
GOVERNMENT
The capital of Puerto Rico is San Juan. Puerto Rico is a United States Territory under
commonwealth status. Some of the major differences between the 50 states of the
US and Puerto Rico is that Puerto Rico does not share the same federal tax, but does
have similar government income tax rates. Puerto Rico does have authority over its
internal affairs. Also Puerto Ricans cannot vote in Presidential or ... Show more

The Spanish colonists provided an entire new selection of food to the Taino s. The
spanish conquistadors brought pigs, chicken, many new vegetables, wheat and
sugar cane. These new items of food from the spanish had a major impact of
modern day Puerto Rico food. Another group of people to influence the food of
Puerto Rico was the African slaves. Juan Garrido was a free African Spaniard man
who was the first African to live in Puerto Rico. Garrido was the first person that
taught the Taino s who to grow wheat properly. Africans are believed to be the ones
that brought rice into the Taino diet. A Puerto Rican breakfast mainly consists of
some sort of pastry or bread and a coffee and milk. Breakfast is not major meal in
the Puerto Rican diet. Two pastries are Mallorca and quesito. Mallorca is a light
pastry bread with sprinkled sugar on it. Quesito is a common pastry. It is a flaky,
puff pastry wrapped around sweetened cream cheese. It is extremely delicious. No
Latin American breakfast would be complete without a cafe con leche. Appetizers
play a major role in Puerto Rican food. Tostones are fried plantains. A plantain is a
long green banana. Bananas are a main Puerto Rican food. ANother popular Puerto
Rican food is Mofongo. Mofongo is a mashed mound of plantains. Seafood, meat, or
vegetables is added to this dish. It is usually made with fried green plantains that are
mashed together in a pilГѓВіn (a mashing utensil),
The Diversity Of Washington County
The diversity seen in Washington County was in fact unique and although there is no
short answer to why so many different European ethnic groups settled in the area,
there are many plausible explanations as to the origins of their settlements. It is
important to highlight the role of European immigrants as a whole in the United States
before focusing in on Washington County. During the first fifty years following the
American Revolution, very few European s immigrated to the United States.
Following those years, Europeans begin to immigrant in large groups for various
geopolitical and economic reasons. Typical plains settlers were farmers in search of
prime farm land that they could be the soul owners of. In most cases, European
immigrants wanted to own land, and were unable to do so in their previous countries.
Washington County was similar to the overlaying theme of immigrationto the Great
Plains. Washington County s location in respects to Kansas City was a major driver
for its diverse population. Many immigrants were able to travel via train to Kansas
City, or if they took wagon, their goal was to reach Kansas City. With Washington
County being relatively close to Kansas City, immigrants would flock to the area.
With the Oregon trial running through the area, many European immigrants stayed in
the region during the latter half of the nineteenth century. Furthermore, in the early
nineteenth century, the area was seamed with roads converging towards Santa Fe, yet

Total Available Market Examples
Total Available Market
The total available market (TAM) in the United States that we identified for
TurBinD is close to $3 billion. The chart with our TAM is located in Appendix A
and includes a breakdown of our TAM into nine specific entities/businesses that we
identified as our potential market. Our three biggest markets are: surface lot parking
stations ($2 billion), off grid solar lighting fixtures ($909 million), and transit stops
($750 million). The other six potential markets listed in the order from greatest
market value to lowest market value are campsites, national and state parks, four year
colleges, outdoor malls, two year colleges, and corporate campuses. Market figures,
assumptions, and estimation methods are explained ... Show more content on

Given that many of their customers do not just own a single solar parking meter and
each turbine would accompany its own solar parking meter, our target customer
would most likely be purchasing tens, if not hundreds, of parking stations each. For
example, The city of San Antonio just installed 134 solar pay stations and Tampa has
almost 300 (Sanantonio, Tampagov). Each customer would buy one turbine for every
solar parking pay station they own to solve this cloudy day issue. The actual number
varies drastically from customer to customer but would typically amount to hundreds
of turbines for cities and 10 20 turbines for private entities.
At our target market price of $200 per turbine, the cost is affordable for these entities
to purchase the high quantities outlined above. This cost ends up being relatively
inconsequential compared to the cost of the actual solar parking meter, which is
approximately $7,500 (Siemens). Additionally, our product will pay for itself in
regained revenues making it more appealing to the customer to make these large
Turbine Engines, Brayton Cycle And Thermodynamics
Turbine Engines, Brayton Cycle and Thermodynamics
I m writing this research paper for my Thermodynamics class with Professor Roh. I
have a big interest in turbine gas engines and how they operate. My future goal within
mechanical engineering is to learn how to maintain and design turbine gas engines.
How do Turbine Gas Engines operate?
I read this article at Wartsila website which enlightened me that Gas turbines are
comprised of three primary sections mounted on the same shaft: the compressor,
the combustor and the turbine. The compressor can be either axial flow or
centrifugal flow. Axial flow compressors are more common in power generation
because they have higher flow rates and efficiencies. The acceleration of the air
through the rotating blades and diffusion by the stators increases the pressure and
reduces the volume of the air. Although no heat is added, the compression of the air
also causes the temperature to increase. The compressed air is mixed with fuel
which ignites under constant pressure conditions and the hot combustion products
(gases) are directed through the turbine where it expands rapidly and imparts
rotation to the shaft. The turbine is also comprised of stages, each with a row of
stationary blades (or nozzles) to direct the expanding gases followed by a row of
moving blades. The rotation of the shaft drives the compressor to draw in and
compress more air to sustain continuous combustion. The remaining shaft power is
used to drive a generator

  • 3. Arkansas Caverns Environmental issues, here in Arkansas, are relatively scarce when it comes to pollution and other factors. Arkansans tend to protect their land, below the ground and above sea level. For example, investigate the Blanchard Springs Caverns. We will use a translational reporter line of C. elegans, in which HLH 30 has a GFP tag to monitor nuclear accumulation. Identification of the S. aureus genes involved in HLH 30 activation will allow us to pinpoint the PAMP /DAMP which is recognized by the host. Achieving this aim will allow us to manipulate this conserved innate signaling pathway and further our fundamental understanding of how the host detects pathogen. Scientific Premise for Specific Aim 2 Identification of the acetylcholine receptors in immune cells and intestinal epithelial cells involved in the activation of TFEB. A recent screen in C. elegans to determine the receptor involved in the detection of a pathogenic signal activating HLH 30 led to the identification of two G protein linked acetylcholine receptors (GARs) GAR 2 and GAR 3. GAR 2 and GAR 3 are homologous to muscarinic acetylcholine receptors (mAChRs). RNA i experiments in C. elegans showed that GAR 2 and GAR 3 expressed in the intestine are critical in activating HLH 30. From this observation, we hypothesized that TFEB activation in mammals could also involve acetylcholine receptors AChRs. Acetylcholine suppresses the immune system by limiting the production of pro inflammatory cytokines according to previous studies.

If they are darker in some places, it s probably because the bricks or mortar soaked up water. This is another sign repairs are needed since water can do so much damage when it seeps into the bricks. Process Of Repairing The Damage The first step is to determine the type of mortar present in the joints. An older home may have a lime based mortar rather than cement. If there s a question about the composition of the mortar, a small sample is taken to be analyzed. It s important to choose a similar material so all the joints have the same physical qualities and respond the same way to shifts in temperature. The new mortar is also matched for color as best possible. If only part of a wall is being repaired, then the repaired portion will be obvious if the new mortar is a different color. When work begins, the old mortar is scraped out. This might be done with a power tool, but it s often done by hand to avoid damaging the bricks. After dust is cleared away, the new mortar is placed in the joints a layer at a time and allowed to dry. It might be necessary to mist the joints frequently to keep the mortar from drying out too soon. Once the new mortar is in place, the surface might be scratched so it matches the rougher texture the old mortar has due to weather

Payday Loan stores offer simple fast money, in exchange for a postdated check, which will be cashed in following the borrower s next payday, all at the cost of paying a few fees, with the added bonus of not requiring a credit score, and said loans not appearing on credit checks. It is for these reasons that many flock to Payday loan practices, since they offer an alternative method for acquiring loan, without dealing banks, which are distrusted by many living in low income areas. After the financial crisis of 2008, many people in these areas began distrusting banks due to the United States financial collapse in 2008. Cost of the loans On average, Payday loans generally cost people up to three times the original value of the loan, and they generally end up driving most people into deeper debt. Unlike loans through one s local bank, payday loan practices are mostly unregulated and have the freedom to issue loans with higher than average annual interest rates, allowing payday loan practices issue loans with annual interest rates at three hundred percent, plus additional fees. Michael Stegman a writer for (insert) writes about the fee structure for paday loans as being Fees charged on payday loans generally range from $15 to $30 on each $100 advanced. Thus, a typical example would be that in exchange for a $300 advance until the next payday, the borrower writes a postdated check for $300 and receives $255 in cash the lender taking a $45 fee off the top (174).

Fashion and celebrity, as they are today, are often seen as the end product of a long historical process of industrialisation and democratisation. How useful is it to see them in this historical perspective? What does it help to explain? Your answer should discuss concrete examples. Introduction Throughout the long expansion of human history, local fashion and clothing have always been a good indicator that reflects historical, political and economical forces within a society. Varies historical periods will have corresponding fashion and style to represent their unique value and culture. Multiple looks with a variety of stylistic influences are stripped from their historical contexts and become part of a large fashion influenced process (Kaiser, 1990). Thus, our modern day fashion is indeed an end product of series of historical progression. This essay will aim to examine how does history and culture of a civilization shape its unique fashion styling and influence modern day fashion by using China as an example and explore the variances in its fashion development throughout five thousand years of rich Chinese history. Over the past five thousand years of Chinese history, fashion trend in China has experienced great changes in most of Chinese dynasties and each of those historical periods are able to distinguish itself among others while learn and borrow from the previous dynasty and develope continuously generation after generation. Executive Summary As the Prior of the Carmelite Order of monks in Clark, Father Daniel Mary has established a future direction for the Carmelite Monks of Wyoming. He has a clear vision that he wants to expand the monastery by buying a 500 acre ranch, which can enable to build a Gothic church, a convent for Carmelite nuns, a retreat center for lay visitors, and a hermitage including 30 monks. Father Daniel Mary cannot make the vision come true unless he can collect enough money to pay for the $8.9 million listing price of that ranch. Let s assume that monks worked eight hours a day, and then this new roaster can help them to raise production by 500 pounds per day (130*8 540=500). The other part is to put wholesale sales churches and local coffee shops. MMC s strategy is a money maker because it has a competitive advantage. It focuses on the niche market the U.S. Catholic population who drinks coffee and wishes to support the monastery s mission. In the U.S., this population is over 69 million. Consequently, this business has a good potential to provide profit. However, MMC needs to improve its advertising strategy to increase brand awareness. Currently, it only uses its website to place its orders and customers can only notice this brand from word of mouth or some affiliate websites. MMC should use social media like Facebook or Twitter to advertize its products. It can also cooperate with other Carmelite churches or groceries to distribute its coffee packages. This is because over 133.5 million (150 million*89%=133.5 million) coffee drinkers in the United States brew their own coffee at home. And among them, about 30 million coffee drinkers prefer premium quality specialty coffees. MMC provides quality coffee that will attract these loyal coffee consumers, who are more willing to pay more to buy coffee made by high quality fair trade and organic Arabica beans. 4.

The Effects Of Risk Management On Health Care Organizations In the context of risk management, there are several ways that Failure Mode and Effects Analysis can be used to improve processes in health care organizations. According to Stanley Davis and colleagues, documenting and analyzing potential risks proactively is essential for improving patient safety (Davis, et al., n.d.). The article states that Failure Mode and Effects Analysis(FMEA) is used prospectively to identify the possible system failures, and to fix the problems to make the system more robust before an adverse event actually occurs (Davis, et al., n.d.). In a study conducted by G Bonfant and colleagues (2010), FMEA was used for chronic hemodialysis outpatients. The authors recorded phases and activities, listed activity related failure modes and effects, described control measures, assigned severity, occurrence and detection scores for each failure mode and calculated the riskpriority numbers (RPNs) by multiplying the 3 scores (Bonfant, et al., 2010). The authors (2010) also analyzed failure mode causes, made recommendations, and planned new control measures. Their results showed that the failure modes with the highest RPN was from communication, and organizing problems (Bonfant, et al., 2010). They (2010) created two tools to fix the communication flow, including dialysis agenda software, and nursing datasheets. In addition, the authors scheduled nephrological examinations, and changed medical and nursing organization, and this resulted in a decrease in RPN value

Paola and Francesca decided to stay together anyway even if God didn t approve of their relationship with one another. Their sin was considered to be the unlawful sin of love. The sin was said to be unlawful because adultery not only made God made but it was also against the law to have an affair. Even though they still had each other, they lost God because of their choice to remain together. In the end they both went to hell instead of heaven. After a Christian had sinned that person had the opportunity to be redeemed for their sin. Redemption is actually very clear and easy to define. When a Christian sinned and wanted God s forgiveness they had to go before God, by praying to him, and ask him to cleanse them and forgive them of their sin. When God hears the person asking for forgiveness, God will answer their cry to him and cleanse them. When God cleanses a person it is almost like the sin was never committed in the first place. Well, there are many reasons why; one, the company may use their uniform as part of their organization s colors. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sound waves through different mediums The velocity of a sound wave is affected by two properties of matter: the elastic properties and density. The relationship is described by the following equation. Where: Cij is the elastic properties and p is the density. Elastic Properties The speed of sound is also different for different types of solids, liquids, and gases. One of the reasons for this is that the elastic properties are different for different materials. Elastic properties relate to the tendency of a material to maintain its shape and not deform when a force is applied to it. A material such as steel will experience a smaller deformation than rubber when a force is applied to the materials. Steel is a rigid material while rubber deforms easily and is a more flexible material. The phase of matter has a large impact upon the elastic properties of a medium. In general, the bond strength between particles is strongest in solid materials and is weakest in the gaseous state. As a result, sound waves travel faster in solids than in liquids, and faster in liquids than in gasses. While the density of a medium also affects the speed of sound, the elastic properties have a greater influence on the wave speed.

Walmart s Core Competency Wal Mart core competency The core competency of a company is viewed as a section or field where a company excels most as compared to the competition in the same area of specialization. These core competencies are seen to be extremely hard for the competitors to copy hence giving the company the possibility of separating or differentiating itself from the others. A unique observation about the core competency is that it cuts across most of the services, products as well as the market borders of the company (Investopedia, 2013). Wal Mart has had two major core competencies against which it pegs its competitive advantage over the other players within the chain store business; price and logistics. The price factor stands out when one makes the decision to shop at Wal Mart since they set prices lower than their competitors hence creating a large customer base. The price advantage they have comes from the fact that they are able to generate extremely large sales volumes hence being able to make profit and sustain running costs at comparatively lower profit margins as compared to competition. This is maintained at Wal Mart since the competition would require massive scales to replicate this a fact that is hard to achieve (Expert Program Management, 2013). Wal Mart also has the core competency in terms of a superior logistics system. Despite being one of the largest global retailers that is located in various parts of the world, Wal Mart operates with a state of the art

This sense of kinship is essential as a catalyst for the Hmong in developing and producing a strong sense of nationalism despite the fact that they do not have a recognized political state or homeland. This is especially important as the Hmong population has been dispersed to all parts of the world following their involvement in a multitude of geopolitical struggles. Despite having a scattered global population, the Hmong are continuously finding ways to remain distinct and as a unified people, especially here in the United States. The Hmong create and reproduce a sense of nationalism despite facing cultural decline and having relatively separated communities built around different urban centers across the United States. Additionally, this research will discuss how the sense of nationalism can be a way for the Hmong to move forward despite facing cultural decline. In this research, these elements will be explained and explored through Michael Billig s theory on banal nationalism (Billig, 1995). Nationalism is most often seen as a sudden spark of patriotism or strong feelings of loyalty and appreciation to a nationstate after some sort of triggering event. Some of the most recognizable moments in United States history that have sparked widespread nationalism in its citizens include the Sandy Hook shooting, the bombing of the World Trade center, and the

It is important to highlight the role of European immigrants as a whole in the United States before focusing in on Washington County. During the first fifty years following the American Revolution, very few European s immigrated to the United States. Following those years, Europeans begin to immigrant in large groups for various geopolitical and economic reasons. Typical plains settlers were farmers in search of prime farm land that they could be the soul owners of. • 44. Turbine Engines, Brayton Cycle And Thermodynamics Turbine Engines, Brayton Cycle and Thermodynamics I m writing this research paper for my Thermodynamics class with Professor Roh. I have a big interest in turbine gas engines and how they operate. My future goal within mechanical engineering is to learn how to maintain and design turbine gas engines. How do Turbine Gas Engines operate? I read this article at Wartsila website which enlightened me that Gas turbines are comprised of three primary sections mounted on the same shaft: the compressor, the combustor and the turbine. The compressor can be either axial flow or centrifugal flow. Axial flow compressors are more common in power generation because they have higher flow rates and efficiencies. The acceleration of the air through the rotating blades and diffusion by the stators increases the pressure and reduces the volume of the air. Although no heat is added, the compression of the air also causes the temperature to increase. The compressed air is mixed with fuel which ignites under constant pressure conditions and the hot combustion products (gases) are directed through the turbine where it expands rapidly and imparts rotation to the shaft. The turbine is also comprised of stages, each with a row of stationary blades (or nozzles) to direct the expanding gases followed by a row of moving blades. The rotation of the shaft drives the compressor to draw in and compress more air to sustain continuous combustion. The remaining shaft power is used to drive a generator
